The morons at Nantucket blew it when they came out with version 5 that
wasn't backwards compatible -- and was buggy.  That's "why not Clipper" and
why I switched to FoxPro and have users still running code dating back to
1984.

why? Clipper rocked, too.

And the greatest thing about dBASE, Clipper, Arago, FoxBase, Clipper,
dbXL, Alpha 5?

Why not Clipper? Object-oriented in DOS days , support ODBC-like drivers
called RDD, and lots of 3rd party libraries!

so in fact it was Fox Software that 'stole' from elsewhere surely?

Anyone work in such a shop? I thought developers were normally the
ones that knew SQL(some better than others, of course)... DBA's
usually being there to administer or point out database-specific
optimizations in the query(the good DBAs) Maybe I've just never
worked in a "big enough" company...
