Re: Remote FoxPro Work???

Kurt, I get where you're coming from. I am just tired of being behind the 8
ball since vfp was killed. I figure I need to go where the industry is
heading and Augmented Reality has the potential to be a game changer. I
might be wrong, but it is a chance I'll take because the world is 3d not
2d. Eventually computing will go there because we want it to.
I am usually a bit over the top, and I am a noob in this area but here is
an example, so this is rendered from a 3d model.

http://laberg.com.au/shop%20front/360.html?prd=lusitania

I haven't been doing rendering for very long, it was more of a test of
capabilities, and I am fascinated by its ability to bring history to life
(the setting is the Lusitania).

Another option, Kurt, is to consider a different job but within the same
circles.  For example, after I got laid off from my last VFP Corporate
gig, I marketed myself as a Business/Data Analyst, as I've been doing
that work right alongside of my dev stuff for decades.

It's all about how you can market yourself to be a value to an employer
and less perhaps about your actual technical expertise. (At the end of
the day, I can now help in more ways as a BA as opposed to a VFP Dev.)

Good luck!

That you can say again.  I even used Turbo Pascal 5 onward for all my
DOS based XBase .PRG coding. With a couple of hotkeys in DOS I could
easily exit it and press c|m|d|r to compile/make/debug/run a
application etc.  e was setup to open in TP my last edited file.  Well
not that you had to do all that typing since DOS started remembering the
last couple of commands so it was easy to just scroll up and hit enter
in most of the cases to do the trick...

mostly accounting related software for over two decades.

Maybe instead of focusing on FP work, figure out what area/field you know

Hey Kurt - you and I met once or twice in NYC. I'm fully retired now,
living in MA & still lurking on the list. Haven't programmed in years.

Good luck & hang in there.

Hey Paul - thank you VERY Much for your kind words!!! YEah - its a VERY
Difficult time for me. Probably one of the most difficult times in my
life...

And - I wholeheartedly agree - developing apps w/VFP beats other tools -
since its truly RAD! And, I don't mean it in the COOL Way kids say it!!!

Kurt,
I donot agree with you on this.
When I say 'a modern Win10 appilication' I just mean an application built
with VFP9SP2 with some modern UI - like FoxyRibbon, FoxyPreviewer etc. This
is for the endusers already an immazing improvement when you have worked
with a FoX2.2 built application.
Sure if you can manage to learn quickly, and realy it is not so difficult,
to manage FoxInTheCLoud you can also built a more modern app which runs on
your Smartphone. But tht should be step 2.
