Intro message
Hello group members, I'm Kevin Shaw, a music/audio producer in Toronto and I'm sending this message to test whether this works and to introduce myself. I'm a radio, music and audio producer and have been using ProTools for a little while. Last April, I completed a Master's degree examining the accessibility of ProTools by the blind, raising this important topic in academic circles. I completed five recordings of a five piece rock band which I'd be happy to share. I'm starting the process of building out a ProTools rig at home for mixing and doing some recording as a session drummer. Happy mixing! Kevin

assigning sends to selected tracks
OK, Chuck, this is categorically for you but it'll help others: To assign sends on selected tracks, do the following: 1. Make sure the tracks for which you want to assign sends are truly selected and showing. 2. Navigate to one of the selected tracks either in the Mix window's channel section or in the edit window. 3. Navigate to the send that you wish to use for all the selected tracks. 4. Route the mouse pointer to the VoiceOver cursor. 5. While holding down Option and shift, click the mouse or track pad. A menu will come up. 6. Navigate to the desired path and press Return. This will work for things like setting multiple tracks to a particular output. Using only the Option key with the above step 5 will instead set all tracks to the same path rather than just the selected ones. chuckles, I know you're south of the Mason-dixon line so, as you like to say, Your mileage may vary. Thing is, this absolutely works and is definitely not a bug. Somewhere else, something must be going wrong for you but I can't imagine what. Instead of trying it from the Control|24, do it from the keyboard. Maybe you'll get better mileage. HTH, Slau
Re: assigning sends to selected tracks Mouse click does not keep menu open
Hi Slau list, After Slau and my self put this to the test it still does not work here! Mouse click does not keep open the sub menu. Is any body experiencing the same mouse behavior? Unless I hold the mouse down the menu disappears. 1 click with the mouse using instructions below and the second I leave go of the mouse the menu closes? Any body else experiencing this mouse Trap??? Re: assigning sends to selected tracks Mouse click does not keep menu open
Whoever can try the following, let's see what happens: 1. Open a new session and create 2 tracks. 2. Navigate to the Tracks List pop-up menu and route the mouse pointer to the VoiceOver cursor. 2. Use a mouse or track pad to perform a single click. Does the menu stay opened? Are you able to simply use the arrow keys to move down the menu? For some reason, Chuck cannot. It's not a problem with Pro Tools, per se. There's an issue either with the system or with VoiceOver on his computer. Let's see if anyone else at all experiences this. Slau
Re: assigning sends to selected tracks Mouse click does not keep menu open
OK! I am a northerner as well, but all works for me as well. I was able to click on pop-ups with success using the mouse. After I clicked the pop-up with the mouse, I was able to use the arrow keys to navigate. The only snag I ran into was after I used option click or shift-option click for a send. After the send was assigned, the focus of the menu after I tried to change the send was not staying open with a mouse click. It did stay open with a QK click and a VO click. To answer your question directly Slau I got the same behavior you did in the Tracks List pop-up menu. The mouse opened up the menu and it remained open allowing me to navigate with arrows. I will do some more investigating with pop-ups and how they respond to mouse, QK, and VO clicks, Vinny - Original Message - From: Slau Halatyn slauhala...@gmail.com To: ptaccess@googlegroups.com Sent: Friday, January 14, 2011 2:00 PM Subject: Re: assigning sends to selected tracks Mouse click does not keep menu open Whoever can try the following, let's see what happens: 1. Re: assigning sends to selected tracks Mouse click does not keep menu open
Brian, Are you saying that, for you, some menus stay open and others automatically close after releasing the mouse? see if you can identify which and we'll try to recreate it. I know there are others but that's the one that immediately comes to mind. Maybe use vo-command-shift-space to lock the mouse down and try navigating the menu?
