Re: frustrated with import of broadcast wave files
What was selected when the import dialog came up? There's a radio button for Start of session that is checked by default. I had exported the audio from sonar by selecting only the portion of the project that contained the clip for the track I was exporting, doing this one at a time. This was all to make the session more manageable in size. When I imported the files into PT, they all started at the beginning of the song. I had to manually slide each track using the shift function to the proper place, defeating the whole purpose. Has anybody had any success importing time stamped files into pt? Should I have put them into the clip list rather than directly onto the tracks? Gord
Re: Ardour Accessibility
Actually, I think someone could. The deal about reaper, is that it's completely open source. Therefore, someone could develop a plugin for it that actually completely changed the look and feel of the program. Wonder if someone could write a skin that passed a bunch of UX stuff to voiceover, such as putting things in propper containers such as tables, drawers, button groups, etc.
Re: Ardour Accessibility
from what i read elsewhere, victor who did JSonar, took alook at it and says everything is there to do that, its just a matter of someone taking the time to do it. And after JSonar, he isn't interested in taking on another such project at this time which is quite understandable. Re: software for noise reduction
Hi This is the best Noice remover I've heard so far ;) I have been using X-noise for the last 10 years and its paid for it self many times over! Last year i added Z-Noise here is a small blurbb from Z-Noise manual below Waves Z-Noise Waves Z-Noise is a single-ended broadband noise reduction audio processor. It very effectively reduces noise while preserving the highest audio quality. Superficially, Z-Noise works like other broadband noise reduction processors which use a noise profile, or noise print, to differentiate valid signal from noise. However, Z-Noise uses intelligent multi-level decision algorithms to maximize noise reduction with minimum unwanted artifacts. Plus, Z-Noise uses a more musical band spilt method for more natural results throughout the sound spectrum. Z-Noise is ideal for removing additive noise such as tape hiss, vinyl surface damage, wind, air conditioner and ventilation system noise. Z-Noise offers several improvements, including: • Z-Noise works on the complete frequency spectrum, thus high-frequency hiss and low-frequency rumble can be removed in the same pass. It is a truly broadband noise removal tool. Nearly all modules are accessible from pro tools, but the spectral repair, where you can eliminate certain noises, such as the noise of a car, isn't accessible. Any ideas? Thanks Stefan
RE: Looking to take Pro Tools 101 here in Tthe Netherlands
That is extremely expensive. The class here is a 14 week class at 1 hour per week. They assume that you spend around 2 hours outside class with assignments etc. I think through the university it is around $400. The PT110 class is the same. I'm working on having the two texts for these classes done in braille. Recording them would be much harder especially since there are lots of side notes and diagrams, figures and tables that would have to be described. Weber State University is certified to teach both PT101 and PT110 as well as proctor the exams. At least I believe they can do the exams. Mark has put a lot of effort into teaching the classes and making them workable for a blind person. Sorry, that price just boggles the mind. Mark offered to teach me One-on-one for something like a fourth of that as I recall. Even for a third of that cost it would be more reasonable. J. It would be great to take these classes even if some areas of pro tools are not accessible as this way we can alert Avid about these issues and get them resolved. Letting developers know when their software is not as usable as we would like it is the only way to make it fully accessible. I always let developers know about accessibility issues as if we do nothing then the chances of issues getting fixed are a lot less unless we let them know what needs to be done. I also find that if done in a nice way most developers are quite willing to make their software more accessible. No one has any experience with blind people and Voice Over but one certain college is willing to give it a try. The lenght of the course will be doubled at least and the costs are going to be as high as 4500 dollar because it's gonna be a one on one situation. That's a lot of money when considering no succes is garanteed due to inaccessibility of some areas in Pro Tools. So I would like to ask you guys, I know some you like J.R and Kevin Reeves are taking or have taken it, if you could help me making a list with areas of concern. This way I can show this to the instructor and discuss the possibilities before wasting lots of money. The course will be on PT10. Your input will be greatly appreciated! Kind regards, Ronald
