Waves Presets

2012-04-01 Thread Poppa Bear
Has anyone compiled a list of importable waves defanition presets that can be
read by Voice Over Yet? Last I read in the old topics this was the necessary
step to have access to the waves plugins. Thanks.

I got my first Mac today. I got an Imac, quad core, with the I5 processor with
Lion 10.6. It only has 4 GB ram, but I will bump it up to 16GB soon. Anyone
have any tips or advice for me? I am looking at installing PT 10.
Thanks, I hope I can be a contributing member here soon.

First of all, just FYI, Lion is 10.7, not 10.6.

10.6 is SnowLeopard.

Re: Would really like some pointers.

2012-04-01 Thread Poppa Bear
Hello, I am new to PT, but not mixing, maybe I can use this as practice as I
get my feet wet with Protools, I may try to take a stab at it, but it could
be a week before I even get it back to you in all honesty.
Here is one of my last bigger projects and some other misalanious stuff. It
can be found on Amazon, Itunes and so on, but for other reasons I also
placed it on soundclick at www.soundclick.com/ghettomissionary It is a
Gospel Hip-Hop project done with some pretty basic recording equipment at
the time about two years ago up to about a year ago.

OK, I'll admit, this probably is not the best I could a done, I didn't put
a lot of major effort into the vocal, as I was focusing more on the mix,
and more on just getting the sound over all to be good.

I think I got the vocals sounding way better than before and do have them
much more crisp, and brighter. There is still a little mud in them, but
it's nowhere near what it was last Christmas when I first started out.

Here is a link to download a zip file of my PT session. Again, it's
nothing to write home about. All it is is Oh Susanna done karaoke style,
but, at least you all'll have something to work with.

I still don't feel I am where I wanna be with learning to mix, let alone
using the PT DAW, but I do feel I'm very gradually improving. If anyone
has a little time, and would be willing to take a gander, I'd like to hear
if someone could fix my vocal track, and make it sound even more natural.
I'd really like to hear myself put through PT with someone who knows what
they're doing, so i can truely see, once I learn what sound I can achieve
with my own recording.

I know normally people charge for this kind a thing to fix things. This
is why I'm not demanding any of you do it, but if someone would be willing
just this once to clean it up for me, I promise never again will I ask
without paying something. I mean that solumnly. I just wanna hear what
potential I really could have with PT in the long run once I get more
comfortable with how to do things.

So, here is the session.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/o7nmdk

If you right awway hear or see anything that you think I could a done
better, point it out to me. I really would like some pointers on things I
especially need to read up on. I love reading the docs, really I do, but
I'd like to more specifically home in on my weaknesses. I think that's
fair to ask.

Thanks.

Chris.

best method for reading pro tools 10 documentation the accessible way with voiceover and navigating it

2012-04-01 Thread Nick Gawronski
Hi, When trying to read the intro to pro tools document as well as all
of the other manuals and start preview I hit voiceover and a and get
chopt off words where the first charactor or sometimes half the word is
not spoken. I don't want to have to hit the down errow everytime in
order to read a document. Also when I try navigating the table of
contence all I get is partial words and I have tried going all over the
screen reading portions of words but can never find the item I need as
when I find a section I want to read I get put back at the top of the
document when I move back to the main text area and interact with it. I
was trying to import a track from a CD to test out some basic moving
around but again numbered buttons which do nothing in the work space
window when pressed. Someone really needs to come out with some type of
audio tutorial on basic steps for the new pro tools user either for the
totally beginner or for those users who have done editing on a pc. I am
not saying at all that the audio tutorials we have now are bad in any
way as listening to those is what made me buy pro tools 10 in the first
place but with nothing more to follow along with and trying to find
someone who knows pro tools who can train me on it as I already know
voiceover has been very tricky as if I could just find the training or
tutorials and yes I would pay for good quality ones if they existted
that would not only help me but lots of us new users who are trying to
go to school or learn this for a job or in my case both. We really need
to make Avid aware of these accessibility issues in the areas of pro
tools that need improovment so I encourage everyone to write to avid
about these as the more people who point them out to avid the more
likely they will fix them. In helping developers make windows programs
accessible I always point them at http://www.microsoft.com/enable and
find that if you have sites for these developers to look at that explain
accessibility for all screen readers not just one they are more likely
to make their software accessible. I do think it is great that we can
use pro tools but again these issues need to be handled quicker then
they are currently getting handled and we need more resources including
having them pointed out in the documentation that avid writes. I did
mention this list to them in my survey I got about a month after I
bought and registerd my pro tools system. We do need to be nice about
the accessibility when we point out issues as well as appear at events
where avid is showing off products and show the people there the issues
as if they see it in action they are more likely to fix them. Does it
matter in what order I install the software first pro tools then the
drivers for my digi 003 and how do you open the bundles that appear in
the documentation folder as when I select them I go into terminal with
no pdf files when I do ls and or change into the directories? Nick

Hi, yes and it works but then again you lose the ability to move between
sections of the manual. I guess one could then take that document and
put it on a talking book player to read it is there a way to export it
as html so you at least get the headings preserved? Nick Gawronski
