ivory question (don't really know where to start

2013-01-08 Thread Brian Howerton
Hello folks,
I would like to ask this to any ivory users on this list. I don't really know
where to start with this, but here is my problem. I am working on a project in
which I am playing ivory within a full-band setting. Here is what I am
finding. You know how when you mic a real piano, you get complete separation
between the left and right hand because there is two micx on the piano, and you
can eq the left hand one way and the right hand another. I am finding however
with ivory that whatever I play on the left side with my left hand is coming
through on the right side, and you get this huge piano sound that is not
working with the full band mix. It's like, you eq to try to get rid of the low
end because of the left hand, and you end up thinning out the right hand to
much, and the right hand needs some body. So my question is, in ivory, is
there a way to get the left and right hand isolated so that one can be EQed one
way and the other can be eyed another as if to simulate the micing of a real
piano where you would have separate mics on either side of the piano…
Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks for any help,
Brian

Question concerning audioprocessing

2013-01-08 Thread Michael Kuhlmann
Hello to the list,

first of all a happy and blessed new year for all of you. Hopefully it will be
a successful year in particular for our efforts concerning accessible Pro Tools.
Currently I've got a problem with audioprocesing. I'd like to add a delay to a
special part of audio in my session. I tried the following steps:
1. Selected the part of audio, I think 3 bars, with the numpad commands.
2. Opened the Audiosuite-Menue from the edit window to adjust the settings.
3. after adjusting my settings and clicking the "process-button" I get the
error that no audio was selected. I don't understand this message, because I
definitely selected audio-material before opening the menu. Running Pro Tools
10.3.2 and OSX Lion 10.7.5.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance and best.

Michael

Disk allocation window / rebuilding corrupted sessions

2013-01-08 Thread Scott Chesworth
Hey all,

Dipping back into Pro Tools here in preparation for an upcoming
project. Today I dug out some old sessions to practice on, but
somewhere in the process of transfering them around the session files
seem to have become screwed up, so got some tidying up to do. Has
anyone had luck relinking missing files, or using the disk allocation
window with VO? Unless I'm missing something obvious, seems like some
vital content is missing (like the list of tracks, ability to browse
file structure etc).

Any tips appreciated...

Scott

Oh, man, that's a drag…
I seem to recall there was a way to have Pro Tools search automatically but,
with the list not being readable, it's dicey at best. Don't know what exactly
to suggest…

If you're absolutely certain that all of the files are in the audio files
folder, it might be possible to direct Pro Tools to look in that particular
folder. What are you currently seeing?

Navigation, audio and midi editing

2013-01-08 Thread Daniel C
Hello everyone,
I'm currently on a protools 10 30 day trial and have a few basic
questions reguarding navigation and audio/midi editing.
I've read here that the numpad can be used to navigate through a
project. How exactly can this be done? Also, how would I go about
selecting a clip to copy, or quantize etc... Any help would be much
appreciated. Thanks.

Another option is opening anew session and then using the import session data
to pull in all the tracks and etc from the session in question here. If memory
serves correct the dialog is a mess and could stand to be labeled/read better
with VO but should be easy enough to figure out importing all tracks after
messing with it for a little bit.

Split the stereo file to two mono files and treat one as left hand and one as
right hand when using EQ.

kevin reeves did some audio tutorials that explain this stuff greatly. check
his site, kevinreeves.net or search the archives of this list. If you have no
luck hopefully someone on here will have a direct link.
