While the MCU is cheaper, my understanding is that the Eucon environment is
completely accessible. Being an Ethernet controller whose plug-in controls have
automatically been mapped for Pro Tools, I'd say the Artist is a better choice
for Pro Tools. As stated earlier, if other DAWs are to be involved, that
changes everything but I think it's important to clarify one's objectives when
deciding upon a surface and what role it will fulfill.

Re: Feedback Wanted: iOS Instrument Tuner App with Audible Clicking?

2015-03-06 Thread Chris Smart
Here's a question for the drummers: is there such a thing as an
accessible drum dial? I gather this is a pressure gauge you place at
various points around the rim, and adjust accordingly. A friend
tunes his DW set with one and it always sounds amazing.

mouse tracking in Yosemite and the Apple Magic Track Pad

2015-03-06 Thread Slau Halatyn
I bought the Apple Magic Track Pad when it first came out and didn't use it
terribly much as I was using an old version of Pro Tools under OS 9 at the
time. Having since switched over to Pro Tools 11 full time, I've experimented
with the Track Pad as I know some others on the list have as well. For anybody
who wants to easily perform modified clicks in Pro Tools to solo safe, record
all, show or hide all with ease, I'd highly recommend it. One recommendation
would be to turn off everything in the Track Pad panel of System Preferences
except for the very first checkbox labeled Tap to Click. If you set the mouse
pointer to follow the VoiceOver cursor, simply holding down the modifier and
tapping the Track Pad anywhere will perform the modified click. Further, pop-up
lists behave normally with the modified behavior. Of course, laptop users with
track pads already have this functionality but anybody with a Mac Mini or iMac,
etc. would benefit from the Magic Track Pad. A mouse could possibly work OK but
one risks the possibility of moving the mouse pointer before performing the
click. The Track Pad won't have this issue unless one touches the pad elsewhere
and moves it. I find that its form factor is practically fool-proof.

Just a thought for those without a surface to easily work with modified clicks.

Surface again

2015-03-06 Thread Martin Sopart
Hello!

I'm tinking about buying the Artist Mix.

Will I than be able, to unarm all armed tracks with one keystroke?
Without caring about indicator lamps etc.
Reliable?

Same for solo and mute?

Best! / Martin

Hi, That’s interesting. Can you tell us more about this interface?

Many of the other DAW software developers are now adapting the Eucon protocol
to their supported formats. There is also a software interface coming that
will make Eucon control surfaces speak.

While the MCU is cheaper, my understanding is that the Eucon environment is
completely accessible. Being an Ethernet controller whose plug-in controls
have automatically been mapped for Pro Tools, I'd say the Artist is a better
choice for Pro Tools. As stated earlier, if other DAWs are to be involved,
that changes everything but I think it's important to clarify one's
objectives when deciding upon a surface and what role it will fulfill.

I thought you were talking about Hitotomo Katsura, the guy who created

accessible with voiceOver and has automatic speech capabilities. I'll see if
I can find the name of the application again.

 Hi folks.

I'm in touch with the guy behind Talking Tuner and other instrument
tuning apps. I've asked him if it would be possible to include an
audible tuning feature which clicks slower or faster, as you approach or
move away from the target pitch while tuning. In other words, very slow
or no clicking would be very much in tune and the clicking speeds up as
you get more out of tune.
A similar feature can be found in the Chromatia Software Tuner for the
 PC, from FMJ Software.

So, would people be interested in this, as in, actually buy an app which
contained this feature? I have no idea if he's thinking of
incporporating this into Talking Tuner, or developing a separate app.
Personally, I think it would be fine as a new feature for Talking Tuner,
since that app is already very simple.

He's more interested in this idea than say, a tone generator, since there
are already lots of tone generating apps out there.

Let me know if you would actually buy this app or be interested in it as
a feature if you already own Talking Tuner.

 Thanks
 Chris
