Re: Upgraded to PT 12 yesterday. Download links still not appearing.

2015-11-04 Thread Nickus de Vos
I agree that the Avid site is quite weird when it comes to upgrading and
downloading new versions. Also, might just be me, but seams each time I visit
their site it's not quite the same, as if they constantly make small changes.

Not an official endorsement, but PT 12 works with El Cap.

2015-11-04 Thread Kevin Reeves
Hey folks.
I stated a few weeks ago that el cap Broke pt 11 in some incredibly weird ways.

The reason I had upgraded one of my machines before it was fully authorized by
avid was the fact that I was tired of VO being sluggish.

I have a second production machine, so if anything broke, I’d just divert my
work over to it, as it was still running Yosemite.
Essentially, I couldn’t arm tracks for recording, import audio, or insert plugs.

This week, I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet and grab PT 12, as I
didn’t want to miss my chance to get the full version of the eleven guitar amp
modeler as an added bonus.

I’m happy to report that on the latest beta of El Cap, Pro Tools 12 is
functioning as advertised. I’m going through all the new bonus plugs that come
with 12, and I especially love the Tape Echo stomp box.
I also love the new dashboard when pro tools is first opened. Finally, they
combined the 2 screens into 1 when creating a new session.

This is my initial look at 12, as I just got it up and running.
I’ll be doing some light client work tomorrow, so we’ll see how this goes.

Your mileage may very, void where prohibited, may cause cramping, gas,
bloating, and so on and so on.

Install at your own risk.

Kevin

To add to what Kevin mentioned about the upgrade process, I must say, having
gone through it with my assistant over the last couple of years, it was not an
issue because I didn't have to deal with anything aside from simply providing
information. Well, I attempted the process today and, man, it's frustrating.
Now, I've registered and activated Pro Tools in the past without issue but that
was several years ago and it worked fine. Today, when I pasted my authorization
code in and hit return, I was prompted to update my billing and shipping info.
After following the link, there was no way for me to find the "Confirm" button.
Now, perhaps I was a bit impatient after several attempts but I really saw no
other option but to contact my Sweetwater rep and he took care of the
authorization process. I took care of the rest but that initial authorization
step, at least for me (and I might not have updated my info for some time), was
pretty much impossible. There's something about Avid's site that's just quirky.
The whole products section maybe avid doesn't know about the most recent
problems with their web site. Or do they know what problems you're having.
Who can you contact at avid to let them know the new issues that you have with
their activation page. Please note the button that ceavin mentioned and also
the link that was also mented were they both accessed by using the same
software? Just some things to think about.seems to be fine but the
activation/registration part of it is wonky.

Anyway. Also, thanks to Kevin for pointing out the upgrade link in which you
select which bundle license will be surrendered before moving on to the
downloads. That was helpful. I wouldn't have thought to necessarily click on
that link.

Slao,

You are not the only one. When I was upgrading mine to PT 12 it took
me a few days. I called a friend of mine to help, then had to ask my
sighted partner to click on the iLoc registration etc. It also took me
a while to sort through the various parts of the website, too.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
