Re: Off-topic music notation question

2016-06-28 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Brian,
At the time when it was being shown to me, it had been nearly 7 years since I
had used Sibelius on Windows so I really had no sense of how good it was. In
addition I'm not at all fluent with NVDA so I really couldn't navigate
effectively. I think Gordon and Kevin Gibbs were involved to at least some
degree with that front. In fact, while I was there, I specifically forwarded
their info as experienced users for purposes of testing.

Hi Brian,
Once you've unzipped the folder, yes, just paste it right into the Plug-in
Settings folder. After launching Pro Tools, it'll automatically show up under
the preset menu within the plug-in.

Re: Pro tools 12 and Mac OS Sierra

2016-06-28 Thread Sean A. Cummins
Chuck,

I've been using 12.5.1 HD since it came out, and it fixed a lot of the
laggyness among other issues.

Jump in, the water's fine! Grin!

Hi Rocco,
Thats excellent news! :)
Have you put Pro Tools (12.5.1) through an actual session yet?
I've been tolerating pt 12.5 with El Capitan for a while and was wondering if
apple would fix things!
Let us know?

Re: cpu overload messages, drop outs, and other random pro tools issues

2016-06-28 Thread Rocco Fiorentino
This statement couldn’t be more accurate. I proved it with an update to a beta
of OS 10.12 on my 2012 MacBook Pro. I just created another thread on this. It
amazes me that it’s taken this long for Apple to get their act together when
building an OS.

Pro tools 12 and Mac OS Sierra

2016-06-28 Thread Rocco Fiorentino
Hi All,

I just wanted to post something interesting I found with the latest version of
Pro Tools (12.5.1) and the new beta of Mac OS 10.12, sierra. I installed the
beta on a 2012 MacBook Pro laptop, and Pro Tools runs quicker and more
responsive then I’ve ever seen it. There’s no playback issues, lagging with VO,
etc. Obviously PT does not officially support this OS, as it’s not even out to
the public yet, but I thought it was interesting that a simple update to the
Mac operating system would fix so many longstanding bugs and miscellaneous
issues with Pro Tools and related software.

Re: cpu overload messages, drop outs, and other random pro tools issues

2016-06-28 Thread Kevin Reeves

This issue lands squarely in the lap of apple.

In apples finite wisdom, they are implementing protocols into their code
that start shutting down background processes to conserve power,
irregardless of whether or not it is a laptop plugged in, a desktop, etc.
In result, apps with tons of horsepower requirements are running much
more sluggishly due to this new implementation.

This has been discussed in great detail on the Pro Tools Expert podcast.
It's effecting graphics rendering and overall performance, and these
guys aren't happy about it.

Apple is slowly bastardizing it's Pro App market with the latest
successive releases of it's OS, and it's really unfortunate.

Re: Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol

2016-06-28 Thread Kevin Reeves
It will be no different in Pro Tools, since the self voicing stuff won't
be dealing with PT itself.

You'll instantiate it like any instrument track, press the browse button
on your controller, and away you go.

I'll be working with it extensively in August, and will report my
findings, but I don't think there will be any differences.

Has anyone gotten this to work with Pro Tools? If so, could you post

somewhat surprised that there hasn't been more discussion either
here or on the Logic list. Understandably, it isn't a cheap
library and the additional necessary expense of the controller
probably makes it something for which many folks have to budget
and purchase in time. Again, however, it's curious that there
hasn't been more talk of it on the list as it relates to an
accessible music library. Granted, it was only officially released
a few days ago so I suppose there aren't too many that have
access. For those interested, Andre Louis will be doing a live Q
this Saturday. You can listen through the following link:

the information is entirely relevant as the accessibility is a
function of the self-voicing aspect of the software along with the
S-series controller.

specifically relates to Pro Tools. I received the controller and
software this morning. As luck would have it, starting this
afternoon, I have a series of daily sessions that run all the way
into July 4th weekend so I won't have any significant time to
spend with the setup but I'll certainly attempt to make some
progress here and there before or after sessions.

Komplete, it might be a good idea to simply go for the smallest of
the S-series which is the 25-key controller. This would facilitate
all of the navigation and it would keep the cost to a minimum.
