Interface & Mic preamp

2016-08-24 Thread Jack Ronnayut
Hello Lists,

I'm looking for some equipment that I will use at my studio. I am now
traveling in the US, want to order them and take them back to my country
(Thailand) because the price is quite cheaper. So I would like my friends
here to please give me ideas and recommendations about the following items:

1. Audio interface that can extend to record drums. I want something
that has a good quality and accessibility.

2. microphone preamp for recording vocal and drums. Please recommend
or share what you like or use.

I have time here very shortly. So, this post is a little bit urgent.

Any suggestion would be appreciated. Looking forward to hearing from you all
very soon.

Thank you,

Jack

Weird, I am not even seeing the conversations button. It’s like none of my

Hi Brian,

I’m not sure when you got this update but the app was updated last week and it
was indeed a nightmare. Things changed, it seemed, twice in only one day. You
might need to go to the Conversations button at the bottom left of the screen,
double-tap and then find the discussion you want and double-tap it. The
discussions are no longer automatically displayed at the bottom of the screen
as they were in previous versions.

Hey Slau, Not funny when that happens! Anyhow, I just check that exist a link
named language English.
Could it be in German?! I believe translating Language to German it is
Sprache. Hope that help's.

Concerning navegating the Avid produts webpage with Voice Over isnt so straight

But, It seems that pressing that Show button will show a produts chart, the
top to botton topics are:
Pro Tools versions, Drivers, plugins, demos and legacy.
Most have 3 links , one for windows, Mac and a PDF read me file.
Pressing it once will starts downloading straight away, find them at Mac sistem
download folder.

Getting the ride: Now that I've got:
Pro Tools 12.5.2;
First Air effects bundle 12.0;
First Instruments bundle 12.0;.
Xpanded  12.0;
Am I forgetting any stuff?
So, concerning a clean PT updating procedures, Am I correct thinking that
ProTools 12.5.2 instaler will wipe out version 11.3?
Anyway it will be fine all my PT personal preferences?
Can I folow the above list instalation order? Or exist a better recommended
order?
No need to define nothing else regarding iLock and so on is that correct?
Well, it's better to ask and do it right, agree?

Thanks in advance,

And here I am having just updated to 12.5.2 yesterday... :). For some reason
I am one of those folks who lags when it comes to updates. If I feel like
something is running well, I seem to hold off. Never updated my OS to El
Capitan. Not even on my mac which I am not running ProTools on. Though I am
always anxious to see what updates have in store. As well I feel like 12.5.2
seems to load quicker and run more efficiently. I should not have waited so
long to update. Guess I'm just like one of those birds you see on a
telephone wire. He finds a spot and feels good about it and just sits there
LOL. That's me.

Hi Rui,

I have Yosemite running on the studio Mac Mini and El Capitan running on a
Mac Book Pro. The latest version of El Cap is technically not supported by
Pro Tools but it does work. To me, the issue of El Cap is more of voiceOver
sometimes cutting out and being unresponsive to the point where I need to
unload and load it twice in a row in order for it to come back speaking. To
be fair, I haven't seen that behavior in Pro Tools specifically but I'm not
using that machine for day-to-day work so I can't testify to its long-term
use. In general, however, the latest version will work on both systems and a
new version is expected pretty soon and I think it'll support the current
version of El Capitan. Maybe others will chime in with any other
observations.

Back to Pro Tools: I have until 30 august to use a ProTools free update.

My actual setup is Mac Pro 6 core, with Yosemite and ProTools 11 something.
Use a Maudio Profire 2626 and Avid 11Rack interfaces plus BCF 2000 control
surface. all works a charme, I only use it for music production therefore I
dont mind to stay with Yosemite, what are your thoughts?

And, concerning ProTools wich version do you recommend? Is it ok to install
the most recent one?

Log-in to your Avid account. Then click on "My Products" and find the
heading that says:

"My products and subscriptions"

Then you will find what subscriptions you have that are active then click
on the heading that says:

"Product Details and Download Links."

Just below that heading is a link that says:

"Show"

Click on the "Show" link and you should then see all of your Pro Tools
latest updates below as links.

Hi All,

It seems to me that, compared with updating ProTools, actually using it is a
piece of cake. Seriously, I used to feel pretty patient and resourceful
when it came to navigating websites and update procedures, but I must be
missing something here.

I've wasted hours trying to understand the Avid site. I signed in and found
"my products and subscriptions", but no way could I find the 12.5.2 upgrade.
Of course when I asked a sighted person for help they just clicked on it
straight away. My question is, if you are one of those who is just merrily
updating whenever a new update comes out, do you have a relatively simple
procedure that you could explain? And what, pray, is the Avid Application
manager doing? Slau did say that the latest version is accessible but all
it ever seems to do here is upgrade itself, and certainly not give me
ProTools Updates. Perhaps I'm losing the plot but please, does anyone else
share my mystification about actually finding and downloading the updates,
and can someone take pity and put me out of my misery for next time?

Best,

Peter
