Re: Unable to reinstall Flow Tools

2022-10-25 Thread Chris Gilland
Yikes!

Thank God I didn't do what Goerge did and uninstall it then, as I too noticed
the first time, PT didn't seem to be navigatable with Voiceover. I think
though, Slau, it was just that odd bug where sometimes it says no windows, and
until you restart Voiceover, you can't regain control of the application.

I wonder what on earth's making it do that by the way.

Anyway, thanks for letting us know about FloTools. Is there a way we could
manually back up the macros included and then just manually import them without
the actual installer, or is that kind of more a pain in the arse than it's
worth?

I'm just trying to think how things could be backed up and restored if needed.
Like I say, fortunately, I have an image made of my Monterey install, so if I
absolutely had to, I could go back, but right now, I don't see any need to do
that.

Chris.

Re: Unable to reinstall Flow Tools

2022-10-25 Thread Chris Gilland
Slau,

I was about to actually try the actions rotor. That was literally the very next
thing I had in mind. Go figure! ROFL! That's hillarious. - The one thing I
didn't try.

So now that I understand, I appreciate it. I don't have time right now this
evening, but I promise to retract the comment up on Applevis I posted stating
this is a bug. I won't reference your name or any of the quoted message from
you, don't worry. I'll just try deleting my comment altogether, and if that
doesn't work, I'll reach out to admins and have them pull it.

Chris.

PS: Thank you tremendously for your help.

Re: Unable to reinstall Flow Tools

2022-10-25 Thread Slau Halatyn
Chris,
The way Pro Tools is behaving in Ventura is actually the way it should from the
standpoint of VoiceOver. Command-clicking selects non-contiguous tracks and
Shift-clicking (or using Shift with the Control+P/Semicolon selects consecutive
tracks. VoiceOver users have had the unusual benefit of being able to select
multiple tracks by purely performing the default action with VO+Space. It's the
way the Pro Tools UI works for sighted users. We've always tried to have parity
with sighted users and this is an example of what that involves. It might feel
like a bug but technically it's not. BTW, you can bring up the Action Menu on a
track and choose to "press " the track and it will simply add it to the
selection.

Re: Unable to reinstall Flow Tools

2022-10-25 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi George,

Yeah, that's a bit unfortunate because both Pro Tools and Flo Tools do not yet
support Ventura. At least on the Ventura front, it's not a big issue. With flo
Tools, the installer simply doesn't recognize Ventura as a valid OS. Hopefully,
Rocco can chime in and help come up with a workaround. Stay tuned.

Re: Unable to reinstall Flow Tools

If you don't mind me asking, I don't mean to hijack your thread, so you
can just answer this and then we'll move on, but I'm really curious, as
you're the only other person I know who's outwardly admitted that they
updated to Ventura prior to PT being officially supported..

When you have multiple tracks in the track list table at a time, what
happens, regardless FloTools being installed or not, if you try
selecting the first track in the table at the very top, then VO+down
arrow to the next track in the list, and then hit VO+Space? Do you find
like me it's really acting totally F***ed up, and is selecting that next
track but not leaving the other one selected as it should?

I can command+click on each track to select or unselect them
individually, and yeah, CTRL+semi colon, and CTRL+P do work, and also
adding shift with those shortcuts works as well, but doing it the old
fassion way by literally going into the table and VO+spacing on tracks
to toggle them is totally totally totally! busted on my end.

So far, I'm not seeming to have any other show stopping issues, but
then, I've not really done much with PT since upgrading yesterday, so
nightmares may yet to be discovered. I hope and pray not though. I do
however have a time machine backup, and a bootable USB drive of
Monterey, so if worst comes to worst, I'm not totally screwed. I'd
rather not go back, but I will if I absolutely absolutely must.

Hi All,

When i am working on a session with let's say 30 tracks and navigate with vo
plus arrow to track 3 and e.g. typ star 20 to go to measure twenty the
voiceover cursor jumps to track 30. I also has this jumping around in other
cursomstances in pro tools.

Any idea what i can do to resolve this?\

 Chris,
Once your shock (beyond belief) wears off, you should consider the fact
that Avid posts compatibility data on their website and Pro Tools users
are used to the fact that upgrading an OS before Pro Tools supports it is
not recommended, not to mention somewhat risky. People do, however, try
things out on a separate machine or partition just to experiment. Brace
yourself (so that you're not shocked) when the question of whether or not
to upgrade to Ventura comes up for months to come and users will
repeatedly be pointed toward the compatibility chart on the Avid site.
When the question inevitably comes up, steel yourself and share the
 following link:
