Midi question

2017-08-31 Thread 'Joy Bausch' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hey folks,
is there a possibility fur us to use the TCE-trim tool, like with shortcuts?
Say i have a 4-bar midi-clip, and want it in half-time. Is there a procedure
that'll do this?

best,
Joy

Automation question

2017-06-25 Thread 'Joy Bausch' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hey list,
i'm at a loss here. I know i should know this, but I just can't figure it out.
Scenario: I want to apply a filter-sweep to my mix, lasting two bars. It's in
the middle of the song, so I want the filter to be passive at first, then do
the sweep, and after it go back to being passive. Is this possible, like a
region-based automation? Or do I need to automate the entire track?
Any help welcome, many thanks.

Re: Q: sample (loops) based produktions in pt possible?

2017-04-05 Thread 'Joy Bausch' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Martin,
the loop browser remains a mystery to me. When i wrote "this is possible", it
was in regards to producing electronic music in PT, with Synths or sample
libraries, and with a loop-based approach, meaning loops or patterns you create
yourself and then process, slice and so on.
Sorry if my message was a bit confusing.

Cheers,
when I download a 3rd-party instrument, like a Kontakt library, how do I get KK

there other steps necessary?
Any advice welcome.
Thanks!

Re: the best blug ins for Recording Narration or Voice over artists

Hey Ramy,
the gate-plugin in ProTools is quite good, I'd say.
Good alternative, in my opinion, FabFilter Pro-G.
Compressors, well, there are too many, but Waves, FabFilter, and also Native
Instruments are favourites on my list.
I personally have not messed enough with Izotopes' plugins, except for there FX
stuff like Stutter Edit. But i only hear great things about them, both the
Ozone suite and their restoration plugins.

Hi Martin,
i literally just updated from Yosemite to El Cap, and the difference is more
than just noticeable. My 2012 MacBookPro feels like a new machine, El Cap seems
to be very responsive.
I can't tell you anything about Sierra, from what Ive been reading though it's
not too reliable yet. However, a new update for it came out yesterday, they're
at 10.12.3, now I think, and maybe the new version improved things.

Re: automation questions

Hey Slau,
yes, that did help. I'm doing my automation with an Artist Mix controller,
which, as you most likely know yourself, makes things very enjoyable. *smile*
So, i guess, what a blind user needs to do when wanting to edit written
automations is to simply record over them? Basically leave the mode on touch
and correct possible wrong movements.
I'm still exploring the world of automations, so I'll keep on trying stuff out.

Midi help needed

2017-01-10 Thread 'Joy Bausch' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hey list,
i've encountered the following situation when tracking MIDI in PT12.7. Maybe
someone can either reproduce this, or point out what i'm doing wrong.
Scenario: I have, let's say, 6 Instrument tracks going, and record on them in
sequence. So, 16 bars, then add another 8, and so on.
I've noticed that for some reason the quantize-function stops working after a
while. I call it up, option 0, and the apply button is greyed out.
Why is that?

thanks for any suggestions,

Joy

Hey guys,
umm, yes, i have to admit I'm not the type of "read readme first"-person. lol
But yeah, the tools flow now and I'm having a great time exploring the
possibilities.
I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone involved in making this
possible; great job indeed!
Keyboard Maestro seems to be a very powerful tool, and I'm sure we're gonna
benefit more from it as more stuff is being tried out and scripted. The
possibilities imaginable for software instruments like Kontakt and such are
really exciting.

enjoy the holidays!

OT: DVD-Authoring

2016-10-21 Thread 'Joy Bausch' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hi,
does anyone have any info on this subject? To be more precise: how possible is
it for a VoiceOver-user to create a DVD, with main Menu, Submenus, music-beds
and so on?
Any info appreciated, many thanks.

Re: Waves plugins usability

2016-10-21 Thread 'Joy Bausch' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hi Juan,
the nice thing about this approach is that you'll learn the lay-out of
parameters rather quickly. Yes, you only have 8 encoders, or faders, if you
switch to Flip Mode, but usually the lay-out is so nicely organized, that you
easily keep track.
For instance, the Waves Q10 Equalizer, has two frequency bands per page, so 5
pages for 10 bands.
Each band always has gain, Frequency, and Q. The buttons on Artist Mix also
have functions, in this case band on/off, and Filter Type.
If you spend time with a plugin, as you should anyways, you'll learn what fader
and button is mapped to in no time, and the more often you use the plugin, the
faster you'll be at going straight to a certain parameter.

Hi,
I use them in both Logic and ProTools, mostly with an Avid Artist Mix DAW

possible to change values with VO.
In PT it works as well, but too slowly and not in a real-time, musical, way.

Sean, that's exactly what happens. I land in the Finder, or alternatively open
the Apple menu.
Also, when i want to route tracks to outputs, it works fine first, and then the
mouse tends to get stuck on the sends-menu, from which i can't make it move
again.

Where's the mouse?

2016-08-15 Thread 'Joy Bausch' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hey guys,
here's something I'd like your thoughts on, and as the subject states, it
concerns mouse-behaviour in PT.
Example scenario: I create 10 tracks to record a drum set. Now i want to do
various things to all these tracks, like create additional playlists, or route
them to respective ins and outs.
Ideally, i can use modifiers shift plus Option to apply changes to selected
tracks. Now, this works for a while, but then, for a reason I haven't been able
to define, the mouse-focus gets lost, and when executing a shortcut i land
anywhere but on the desired object.
Does anyone have a solution for this? How can i get the mouse back on focus.
The usual VO-commands are not working, like VO-Command-f5.
I find those mouse-based shortcuts super useful, so I don't like the idea of
them not bein reliable, so I'd appreciate any help on this.

Hey Slau,
first of all, thanks for clarifying. Now, here's something I've been thinking
about, in regard to the shortcuts you mentioned:
besides the ctrl-tab: select next region, there obviously also is:
ctrl-option-tab: select previous region. This shortcuts is not so usable for
us, since ctrl-option are the VoiceOver-keys. Here's the question: is it
possible to define which set of those keys are used for VO? In other words,
could one specify that only ctrl-option on the right side of spacebar act as
VO-keys?

thanks for clarifying. Since I'm coming from Logic Pro, where the mentioned

I'm sure the possibilities with playlists in PT, as they are now, are strong

Thanks again.

Re: Round-Call: Software-Instruments for PT

2016-05-24 Thread 'Joy Bausch' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hi Slau,
thanks so much for your reply. As for your suggestion concerning SoundFlower, I
checked it out, and it looks like it is currently not supported. However, Rogue
Amoeba, who apparently were the last distributors, now have an add-on available
called LoopBack, which does the same thing. I'll definitely give that a go,
knowing that this Company has some other great products out, like Audio Hijack.
Thanks for pointing me that way.
As for virtual instruments, I haven't taken the plunge into buying any, mostly
because I couldn't find reliable info on what works.
All I know is what we all know: Native Instruments is a no-no. But what about
Omnisphere or Nexus or something down that road? I'm mainly after hig-quality
bread-and-butter-sounds, plus orchestral. Of course some electronic/synth
sounds are always welcome1but since I'm a bit of an analogue nerd i would make
my own...:)
So any advice on that? I am thinking about giving the NI Komplete Kontrol
keyboard a try, but if I could find something similar and less costly that
would be great.

Kindest regards, and again thanks.

Joy

Round-Call: Software-Instruments for PT

2016-05-23 Thread 'Joy Bausch' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Cheers guys,
subject already states what I'm curious about: what software instruments
(synths, samplers, drum machinees etc.) are you using, what is
VoiceOver-friendly and so on.
Coming from Logic Pro myself i have to say PTs selection leaves a lot to be
disered, although that is a personal taste matter too.
Anyways, would appreciate any input on this.
Thanks!
Joy

Plugins - Waves in particular

2016-05-17 Thread 'Joy Bausch' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hey guys,
in another thread it was mentioned that plugins by Waves Audio are used by some
members. So does that mean they're all accessible in PT? The one mentioned was
an EQ, but are dynamics and other fx usable too, like you would get them in the
Waves bundles?

ReWire anyone?

2016-05-15 Thread 'Joy Bausch' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hey list,
as the subject already states, I was wondering if anyone has used the software
ReWire with VoiceOver.
My idea, or wish, is to use some of Logic Pro's software instruments in PT, and
ReWire seems to be the way to do this. But maybe someone has another solution
for this?

kindest regards,
Joy

Saying hi

2016-05-13 Thread 'Joy Bausch' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hey list,
just wanted to quickly introduce myself, since I just subscribed.
My name is Joy, I'm a 36-year old male living in Germany. I'm going to school
again to become an audio-engineer/mastering-engineer, and I also take music
classes.
After having learned Logic Pro X we now start on ProTools, so yes, I'm quite
the newbie. :)
I have found the transition from one DAW to another rather hard, but things
start to look brighter now as I learn more shortcuts and in general get more
familiar with PT and the way it thinks.
I hope to learn a lot from you guys, and ask you to be patient if I ask typical
RTFM-questions. I'll do my best to keep that at a minimum.

Kindest regards,

Joy
