Re: New user questions

2013-10-01 Thread Scott Chesworth
Hey John,

The first thing you might want to consider is either rolling back to
or setting up Lion on a separate partition. There is a bug that breaks
VoiceOver's ability to read the counter display and edit fields within
Pro Tools when you run it in Mountain Lion.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news...

More questions later but this should do it for now.

Hey John Scott is correct certain edit fields are not being reported
by voiceover, and it makes working in MountainLion almost impossible.
Avid and Apple are aware of this and they are currently working to resolve
it.
They are saying in a few months it will be fixed and released in an 11.

its mostly bug fixes, Though you do need to be running the latest version of
Pro TOols 10 if you plan to have Pro Tools 11 and Pro TOols 10 living happily
on the same system.

Whenever you upgrade to a later version of Pro TOols 10, you will have to go
into Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Plugins and remove the
folder with aax plug ins init. This will force Pro TOols to fall back to RTAS.

Most avid dealers will also sell you a PT 11 upgrade from 10. It's basically
a postcard with a registration code on it. You log into your avid account, put
in the registration code and it will grant you access to a PT 11 download and a
new license for your iLok.
