RE: Working with the digi003 and Protools - a silly newbie question or two
I am not exactly sure what you're asking, but if you are asking if somebody say mixes from the 003, it may not be a strait up question. In my case I may use it to mute some tracks, solo others, select multiple tracks at once and occasionally change the level of some tracks. If you have an older version of PT like I do, then at times you may need to select and change parameters on certain plugs like waves through the 003 because they are not changeable through older versions of PT with Voice Over keyboard commands. Those who work with it, do you only record and mix from it and do the editing and that stuff on the computer itself or do you also do the editing from the surface? Do the buttons have multiple functions, like ”press this button and that will happen and press it again for something totally different to happen”? Is the Digi003 easy to work with without spoken feedback from it? I want to make the Digi003 accessible via the Surfacereader application for PC and Mac, but that can take a while and in the mean time i finally want to overcome my fears and start actually working with Pro tools and the Digi003 but i don’t know how easy or hard it is. Thanks for any answer. /Krister -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. Re: Working with the digi003 and Protools - a silly newbie question or two
Hi Krister, I'd encourage you to just go ahead with it. You're not going to accomplish much by staying on the sidelines. There will be things that will come easy and other things will pose challenges. Be a pioneer like so many folks who have ventured into unknown territory and I'm sure you won't regret it. As far as I can remember, there aren't multiple functions for much of the 003. One thing I do recall is that the track select buttons have two different functions depending on the status of one other button. In other words, they normally function as track select buttons but when the track record button is pressed those select buttons become record enable buttons for the individual tracks. A light probe will be your friend in this case. You'll also find that editing becomes so much easier with the surface, not to mention simple things like muting, soloing and volume changes, automation, etc. Further, flip mode will help with plug-in parameters. You just have to dive in. there will undoubtedly be times when you'll need sighted assistance to help identify certain things but, if you are a diligent notetaker, you'll be able to refer to the things you don't commit to memory. Hi Krister, Have you read the manual? Google search for tutorials? Those questions you asked should be covered in the manual?
