Re: Work in progress

2013-09-24 Thread matt diemert
Poppa, I've already retracked the drums, but for the heck of it, i'll
try it on the original take just to see.
I played all the instruments and did the Vox on both the songs that
I've sent over well obviously not the female harms!

I did pop the Elec Gut track down 2.2DB right after I bounced it and
sent to list, so I guess we were both thinking the same there.

As for it's pan position. I've tried it three or four spots, and when
listening say in a car, ipod, or on a normal boombox ETC, panned hard
is where it sits best; however, when I listen in my studio with my
studio monitors, I feel like I want to push it back towards the
center. I'll have to think on that one to decide where it ultimately
ends up!
Thanks for the feedback.

As a side note, when I learned PT 9 and 10 back in march, my best
friend who is sighted and has worked with PT in nashville for a number
of years, had me record all of our training. I've contemplated editing
it up and putting it up somewhere for audio references for folks new
to pT and even more advanced concepts that we covered but it's nearly
50 hours of recording, and the man hours it would take to edit and put
it in order seem overwhelming! I'll think about it, and let you guys
know if I decide to throw it up somewhere.

If it gets into as advanced concepts as you say and it s in-depth and high
quality, Put in the hours over a few months editing it, then put it behind a
paywall. If you are gonna provide a high quality and high value product,
nothing wrong with being compensated for the time it takes to put it together
and put it out. Hell make a getting started type segment or two free if you so
choose t o give a taste of things behind the paywall.

Yep, on the solo guitar lyx on the secont verse I would bring the pan closer
to the senter by maybe 10% and turn it down a DB or two and see how that
sounds. When that guitar comes in it is so noticeable that it was
distracting to me. I will take it into my control room later and take a

Yes, the drums did faulter just a little there, and we just haven't
had time to set the whole setup to record drums again! Always
deffinitly record to a click, no other way!
I'm such an LCR guy when it comes to panning, that it's difficult for
me to put things somewhere in the middle. I suppose it's something I
need to get used to, but I always try it somewhere in the middle and
always, always end up panning hard. I've contemplated retracking the
acoustic track with a Martin rather than my Taylor, as it has such a
distinct sound.
