Re: accessible EQ plugins

2013-09-20 Thread Poppa Bear
I can understand where you are coming from Chuck, in Sonar I use the waves, UR
series, API and stuff like that and it steps my mixes up IMO. My problem is
when I choose to use some heavy duty plugs in real time when recording sertain
sources, even though my PC is quad core, windows is just not made to record
real time audio, unlike the linix bassed stuff. With a PC, all of the eyes need
to be dotted and all the T's need to be crossed in order to have a smooth
functioning work flow, but then again PT can be a finicky beast as well at
times. PT is like having a second wife sometimes, I say go right and she turns
left.

Re: accessible EQ plugins

2013-09-20 Thread CHUCK REICHEL
Hi Poppa & Monkey,

The only Stock Pt plug I use is the Expander/Gate Dyn 3 Plug-In.
Once you have used Waves and other hi quality plugs Like the Abbey Road EMI TG
12413 Limiter

you don't go back!
YMMV :)

Re: accessible EQ plugins

2013-09-20 Thread Poppa Bear
I look for some of the tonal changes in diff compressors and EQ's. Some
times Annalog warmth, sergical clerity and other aspects can change from
name to name. At least, that is what I have found to be the case. Also, the
calabration of the DSP/CPU variations in different plugins handle signal
sources different when gane staging comes into the picture from different
input sources. Also, some compressor plugs are going to be a little more
tube bassed while some other stuff may be more SSL bassed, that is a broad
brush stroke explanation, but something I like to have a choice between.

Honestly, I just use the stock pro tools eq and compressors. Why not
use those? Also the izotope stuff is pretty accessible as well .
