[Puppet Users] 2016.4.2 puppet enterprise
I have installed puppet enterprise 2016.4.2 and am using the free ten nodes license. I am studying for the ppt-204 and have seen questions related to live management. I have searched high / low / left / right , where do live management go? All examples shown for live management show that is available through the console, I don't see it ! Is this depreciated? is 2016.4.2 not an actual enterprise version? or is it a knocked down version where all features are not available unless it is paid for? Re: [Puppet Users] 2016.4.2 puppet enterprise
I went to take the test last week, they had questions about live management. To be honest the testing center monitors were so small all of the content would not fit on the page, I spent so much time resizing windows, I ran out of time to finish the test. I seen what the test is composed of and went right home and started writing notes on topics I need to study up on before taking it again (Which I will refuse to take if I cant get a bigger monitor, its 2017 ! give me a monitor that fits all the content ! ). One of those topics was live management that I need to freshen up on. Not a big deal, I will go read 3.8 documents on live management. [Puppet Users] puppet ruby code documentation needed
I posted this before with a subject line that was vague, i will repost with a more detailed subject line I need some good documentation on ruby code for putting together puppet rake beaker tests.. I need to add some code for my acceptance class rb script. Is there documents out there that anyone can provide. I'm not even sure the right technical words to use to phrase my question. Ruby is a new language to me, I just need to know how to structure the code. I.E. I need to add ruby code to allow my acceptance testing (rake beaker) to include classes that are not directly already incorporated in my main modules that get called. I just need to add other classes specifically for testing. I don't know where to start. Thank you , -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. Re: [Puppet Users] puppetlabs-sqlserver
It says to include in your manifest "sqlserver_instance{ 'MSSQLSERVER': features=> ['SQL'], source => 'E:/', sql_sysadmin_accounts => ['myuser'], } which I did , the error I got back was " Evaluation Error: Resource type not found: Mssql_instance" What I did was place the following code in site.pp under the node definition for winsql.attlocal.net : sqlserver_instance{ 'MSSQLSERVER': features=> ['SQL'], source => 'E:/', sql_sysadmin_accounts => ['myuser'], } Either way, The only sql classes I see when trying to designate the appropriate classes to the classification in the console is postgressql Doesn't seem this class is loading Im new so please correct me where im wrong On Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 6:59:19 AM UTC-5, Martin Alfke wrote: > > There is not type mssql_instance in the module: > https://forge.puppet.com/puppetlabs/sqlserver/types > > Did you follow the setup description? > https://forge.puppet.com/puppetlabs/sqlserver/readme#setup > > > On 02 Mar 2017, at 12:49, Ryan Vande > > wrote: > > > > Here is my puppet module list --all > > /etc/puppetlabs/code/environments/production/site > > ├── puppetlabs-ntp (v6.0.0) > > ├── puppetlabs-sqlserver (v1.1.5) > > └── puppetlabs-stdlib (v4.15.0) > > /etc/puppetlabs/code/environments/production/modules (no modules > installed) > > /etc/puppetlabs/code/modules (no modules installed) > > /opt/puppetlabs/puppet/modules > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_accounts (v2.0.2-6-gd2f698c) > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_concat (v1.1.2-7-g77ec55b) > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_console_prune (v0.1.1-9-gfc256c0) > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_hocon (v2016.2.0) > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_infrastructure (v2016.4.0) > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_inifile (v2016.2.1-rc0) > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_java_ks (v1.2.4-37-g2d86015) > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_nginx (v2016.4.0) > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_postgresql (v2016.2.0) > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_puppet_authorization (v2016.2.0-rc1) > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_r10k (v2016.2.0) > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_razor (v1.0.0) > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_repo (v2016.4.0) > > ├── puppetlabs-pe_staging (v2015.3.0) > > └── puppetlabs-puppet_enterprise (v2016.4.1) > > > > > > The modules in bold are what im trying to work with. > > > > I cannot get the sqlserver module/classes to identify. [Puppet Users] Configuring code manager
Part of setting up code manager there is a section where you must point puppet_enterprise::profile::master::r10k_private_key to the location of the SSH key. I'm guessing this is an ssh key you setup with https://docs.puppet.com/pe/latest/cmgmt_control_repo.html#set-up-your-git-repo? So I setup an ssh key VIA https://docs.puppet.com/pe/latest/cmgmt_control_repo.html#set-up-your-git-repo so my personal computer can push to my git repo the only difference is when I setup https://docs.puppet.com/pe/latest/cmgmt_control_repo.html#set-up-your-git-repo for my puppet server , I will leave the passphrase blank? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. I posted this in slack puppet community, lets see if I can get more ideas here I have the following setup when puppet runs on the agent puppet node, no errors happen but nothing else happens either, have a look please Im using Puppet Archive for the following Puppetfile: mod 'puppet-archive', '1.3.0' mod 'puppetlabs-stdlib', '4.16.0' hieradata/global.yaml: artifactory_host: artifactory.azcender.com tripwire::wintripdir: 'c://temp' Profile: include ::archive archive {"${windir}/te_agent_8.4.2_en_windows_x86_64.zip" : ensure=> present, source=> "http://${artifactory_host}/artifactory/application-release-local/gov/usda/fs/busops/cio/Tripwire/te_agent_8.4.2_en_windows_x86_64.zip";, extract => true, extract_path => $windir, creates => $windir, cleanup => false, Puppet agent runs on the puppet node without error but nothing happens , meaning no files are uploaded and extracted to the node Any assistance is much appreciated -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. [Puppet Users] Re: puppet-archive
Can you explain further? As of now, if I dont manually create ${windir}/te_agent_8.4.2_en_windows_x86_64 which is actually c:\temp\te_agent_8.4.2_en_windows_x86_64 it blows up but creates never creates it otherwise If I manual create the directories, the puppet cycle goes without error but the zip is never created/extracted to c:\temp\te_agent_8.4.2_en_windows_x86_64 On Monday, April 3, 2017 at 9:53:46 AM UTC-5, Luke Bigum wrote: > > Actually no, it's going to need to be some file that's inside the ZIP > archive, not the name of the ZIP archive itself. [Puppet Users] puppet windows base older version 7zip
During our chocolatey install in our base_windows.pp it installs the latest version of 7-zip I believe it does this VIA the powershell script InstallChocolatey.ps1.erb " Write-Output "Download 7Zip commandline tool" $7zaExe = Join-Path $tempDir '7za.exe' Download-File 'https://chocolatey.org/7za.exe' "$7zaExe"" Can I just change this to Download-File 'https://chocolatey.org/api/v2/package/7zip.install/16.04' "$7zaExe" and it will download that specific version? I guess I can just try this and find out , but if someone knows of a different way let me know please -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. [Puppet Users] SQL server install express / enterprise
I want to install this on my test env at home but i dont have access to en_sql_server_2012_enterprise_edition_x86_x64 without having a microsoft subscription which cost money. Can I just use express edition for my test environment? Then use the same puppet code within my Org where they use enterprise edition? I ask because I don't know enough about SQL and/or the differences between express and enterprise editions I need to install SQL server I need to setup multiple test instances I need to install some features as well [Fulltext, SQLEngine, IS, MD5,SSMS] <-- don't know if these are even valid features , dont quote me -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group.
