Yep, I mentioned before launch that there were about 6,000 spam entries and
that clearly goy worse. I'm not sure how we're going to pull out any of the

I asked about the images, so I'm not sure myself.

As for adjusting menus, they're set within the sitetree on the admin.
I guess you need to be careful, though, because some menus link
directly to pages, and some are apparently "apps". I dont really know
anything about Django, but I screwed up the success stories by not
knowing this difference...or something like that.

If anyone has a few free minutes, would you be able to add a news item

I would do it myself but I don't currently have an operational

Text like "The Python Software Foundation is requesting the assistance
of anyone in the community who works in a company that has a presence
in an EU Community Member State. The Python trademark is at risk, more

Pat is requesting that PSF Board minutes be posted online, which has

typically take care of this particular task as it overlays with my
role as Communications officer for the board, so there's nothing here
to contribute.

Hi Pat,

This time instead of me posting them, I'm working on the finishing
touches of documentation to get you setup to be able to make these
postings yourself. I'll contact you off-list so we can setup a time to
go through it.

At least one reason why we require explicit agreement (the one I'm
most familiar with) is to keep track of all contributors in the event
that we need to change the licensing terms, or change the license all
together. As far as I know, this is not open for debate -- it's a
requirement for us.

You are wrong.

The "request for proposals" writing *itself* is what's being proposed, and
that, for hundreds of reasons, is being handled internally. When the
request for proposals document has been solidified, it will absolutely be

Not everyone has the time or interest to submit patches. I *know* you

If that's the case, in a full month some old 2.3 installers are being
hit around 2000 times. Subtract that away from each of the more

[pydotorg-www] Quick webstats question

2011-10-11 Thread Brian Curtin
This seems self explanatory, but I just wanted a quick sanity check
before I use these numbers in a report...

1. Open http://www.python.org/webstats/url_201110.html
2. Do a CTRL-F for "/ftp/python/2.7.2/python-2.7.2.msi". The hit count
is "163124"
3. Does this mean 163,124 people downloaded that 2.7.2 Windows
installer so far this month?

The reason I ask is because it would mean we average around 1.5M
Windows installers downloaded per month for the last year, unless of
course I am misunderstanding what that page means.

(I apologize if this is the wrong mailing list, I figured it would be
the most likely correct one)

[pydotorg-www] Request for commit access RE: download/windows page

2011-01-24 Thread Brian Curtin
Michael Foord reached out to Tim Golden and myself to work on and maintain
the currently outdated http://www.python.org/download/windows/ page, and I'd
like to help.

I'm new to this particular list so I'm not sure what crossover there may be
from python-dev and others, but I have CPython commit access and I'm one of
the seemingly few Windows users in that circle. If this is a reasonable
request, my key is attached here.
