That is helpful, Thomas. Thank you.

I can say with confidence I won't know how to fix it. I'm not a webby

I eyeballed the git project you listed below and see there are no open

It seems suspicious that both py3d.org and f0o.com have nameservers in

Hi,

Adding this to the list of antispam tasks for later...

Enable recatcha for users that are less than 1 month old. Most of the
spammers are currently people, so this will just slow them down a bit...
but it will stop most of the really annoying bots. That way it shouldn't
inconvenience people too much, since most legit wiki editors have accounts
older than a month.

Fairly easy way to implement it:

[pygame] pygame.org wiki spam

2012-05-11 Thread Winter

Hello,

I've been fighting the great fight against spam on the pygame.org wiki,
but there's at least 2 accounts that seem to be doing automated changes:
spainadmon and Ronald Derren. The Derren account is being
particularly nasty these past few days.

I've gone from direct editing to reverts, but it's hard to keep up. I
could whip up an automated removal tool of my own but that wouldn't
really fix the problem, and it just seems ungentlemanly to do the same
as the attackers (even though I have better intentions).

Can prevention tools be added to the site? Captcha's, IP blocks,
anything? I hate to see the site just plowed under by the BadGuys.

I feel for the webmaster(s), this isn't meant as a knock. The attackers
always have the advantage and I know it never ends.

Regards,

Winter

Hi,

every new function from 1.8 onwards is marked in the docs (or should
be). you'll see something like 'new in pygame 1.8.

You can download old docs from the ftp site, or from subversion.

The whole task of managing spam can grow without bounds, but a few
thoughts on this:

- only allow logged in users to send mail to other users (no anonymous
emails)

- a link could be put in at the bottom of the mail to report back to the
pygame server that the mail was spam. This could help track abuse, which
could lead to locking the abusive account, and perhaps other accounts

Emails could be per user, and per project. Authors are automatically
set to have emails sent to them for their own projects. Also other
interested people can select to get updates on a project update too.
Once a person is logged in, they could see on the project page a check

There is already a RSS feed for projects... So you can use that to

Maybe we could add a comment RSS link too. Not sure how this would

Even assuming there are legitimate things on pygame.org that don't

Even if there are some projects that don't use pygame, having a pygame

useless. I'm sure 95+% of the projects use pygame. In that case, it
would make a lot more sense to tag the exceptions as "No Pygame"

Not all projects use pygame. Some use PyOpenGL, Pyglet, WX etc.

If everyone does their own projects, things would get done really quickly.
Of course there are people who have posted projects and then forgotten
(What?!) about Pygame. There are outdated projects no one remembers, and
the entire "Gamelets" section...

I, for one, glad about the new reforms to the pygame.org website. The
Google search option is especially good.

Hi Luke,

I know. The reason why I went to the script side is for display reasons.
When the screen is not text based my screen reader can not read them. The
company that has written the screen reader program focuses on Microsoft
products first. They will write the scripts to handle such windows and allow
the screen reader to see the formats, colors, respond to certain screen changes
and make it work. Which is what I am trying to do with Pygame.

At least when sending stuff to the local host I can see what is happening
unless it is a video, thus the web based side is the way I have to go in most
cases. Like Linux and the text based part of the screen. Or the Control panel
part of Pygame. But with the help of others I can place sound to the buttons
and keys as I have posted.

I just have to wait until the MSAA version comes out to get more chance to
program using the Pygame window. Microsoft Accessibility for standard buttons
and such. For the text that is displayed will also be seen and spoken by the
screen reader.

It sounds like you might find the python tutorial very helpful if you haven't
read it already:

http://docs.python.org/tut/tut.html

There should probably be a prominent link on the pygame website for this,
since a lot of people seem to have questions on the mailing list about
classes and basic python data structures. Maybe on the tutorials page?

Hi Lenard,

Thanks for the docs. I discovered that I had downloaded the installed
back on the 14'th. I can not remember if I had installed it but I think I
did. I was too busy recovering from my broken leg&ankle to pay attention.
When you sent this yesterday I had spent the day making my own .HTML file to
reference all the notes and this version has done that already.

Thanks for helping, but I noticed that complete methods may not be in all
the classes but will have to go through them all and test them out. I will
ask questions as I read/test and see what happens.

I am writing my games as a sightless user and will incorporate all the
methods I can as I learn them. I have never programmed in Class format yet
until doing the examples now. All my previous programming was done in either
Assembly, MASM, my screen reader program, or in Basic my first game, then C++
and using only struct statements as my closest thing to Class format. For I
did not have the SP2/Screen Reader capability to run stuff using Windows to
deal with the C++ Class structures and there constant changing to prevent it
unless you spend lots of money to catch up. The reason why I went to Java
Script to be able to write a game and actually run it on Windows. For Java
used the combination of Basic and C++ in its structure.

For I finally got a cross-reference on "self," which was the "this"
version written in Java Script for records/struct statements. By seeing,
understanding the similarities, then it made more sense besides testing and
seeing results.

I am learning and studying examples as I go. I will try to use as many
comments as I can and also transfer my Java Script game over one function at
a time.

This is why I am striving for structured programming/tutoring. One step
at a time, waiting for the Windows version of PyGame accessibility to allow
mouse tracking by screen reader eventually.

Thanks again Lenard for taking the time to make the Windows version. I
think this is going to be fun learning now that I have gone past the stigma
of getting a better understanding of Class/Self construct. Knowing that all
stuff is just a memory location and pointers to the original. The rest is
just copies of the original and more depending how confusing you make it. The
reason for the Docs section of the function defined...that's if a person uses
it to explain the details.
