Is fine, fortunately there are other users with access to OSX and is just
important to understand how our QA system works so we can generate all the
right tests.

Right now we are not doing that, because it depends on the release cycle.
These testing happens after the feature freeze for the next version. At the
moment QA is doing bug cataloging, confirmation, approve patches and
communicate with users/developers.

Guide to port Apache OpnOffice 4.1 to AppImageKit

2014-07-28 Thread Alexandro Colorado
I just got message back about one developer writing a small guide to
bundle Apache OpenOffice into the AppImageKit. AppImageKit is a
framework to make portable apps for Linux.

This will help users be able to run Apache OpenOffice on an
encapsulated fashion.
 https://github.com/probonopd/AppImageKit/wiki/Bundling-OpenOffice

I also want to encourage people to test it, and post the OpenOffice
build on the porting page. A task can be found on issuezilla.

Make sure Yu Zhen know that you are looking for test cases to
complete, make sure that you give your platforms available to you to
perform the testing (Windows (Vista, 7, 8, Server, etc), GNU/Linux (32

Also make sure that you get to know your way around testlink. There is
a good testlink guide on our wiki.

Regression test AOOTest-620

2014-07-02 Thread Alexandro Colorado
Looking at this instructions seem confusing on the naming of the path (step 5):

5 Click Add button, select a path, named path1, OK

The path1 is added to the list If there is bau file under the
path1,the bau file will be added to Auto Text as Categories

The path dialog doesnt allow any naming, only categories. If anyone
else is doing AOOTest-620 and maybe clarify when I went wrong, I will
appreciate it.

Regression tests AOO-223

2014-07-02 Thread Alexandro Colorado
I am having an issue with this one as it seems that Custom Animation
(nor Slide transition) shows up.

I tried on different occasions with new and old files. I already put a
failed test, but I want to get a second check out.

My platform is Linux 32-bits - RPM.

Re: Test Schedule - AOO 4.1.1 Test Starts! Call for volunteers!

2014-07-02 Thread Alexandro Colorado
Hi this is the first time I am doing automated cases, can I get some
resources on how to go about it. I looked on the wiki but so far I
haven't found a guide about it. It seems all the steps would be run
from a JAVA piece of code.

Then it would be run and the steps described on the TC would be
executed in an automatic manner.

Some question arise here:
Where do I get this script?
How do I run it? (version of java, etc.)
Do I run it from CLI or from internal AOO application.

If there is a guide about creating and executing these testcase
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/QA/test_automation_guide
and
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/QA/vclauto/A_step_by_step_example

However I have some questions about them, such as "Firstly compile the
project with the command under test module." Does that mean I need to
re-compile AOO or just the script?

Do I need to put JUnit and Ant on my system?

Re: Set up

2014-05-06 Thread Alexandro Colorado
Well the first step is to have the target OS running on the VM, the
second would be to install the version for each platform.

On the testlink platform you should be able to select which test cases
are for the target OS and repeat the process for each of the
platforms.

Your feedback would be important and saved for further analysis.

Here is the wikipage showing how to do the testcases:

Afaik Bugzilla should be automated, check your spam box. Or try to do it again.

The only manual process is to upgrade your account level to QA auditor.
You have the following permission bits set on your account:
canconfirm Can confirm a bug or mark it a duplicate
editbugsCan edit all bug fields
qa-team Members of the AOO QA team
registered-user All registered users

I also wonder if maybe Yuhzen can help speed out the process.

then get a confirmation email.
This confirmation email will have a url which you can click, or
alternatively just reply to it without modification. once you do that

Re: Wework Wiki: Test Case Management

2014-04-20 Thread Alexandro Colorado
The space still useful and available to insert the updated processes
and systems. I have seen many QA documentation that needs some work.
Unfortunately people 'create new pages' instead of updating the
existing ones. This makes a lot of outdated documentation remain
present.

Is a problem of people not understanding correctly the role of a wiki and DSCM.

Re: [Base] Maintenance or update of the PostgreSQL driver

2013-09-27 Thread Alexandro Colorado
Here is the documentation for the libpq for 9.2
http://www.postgresql.org/docs/9.3/static/libpq.html

Looking at the pgdriver make file seems is just a matter to bind the
libpq with a source code of pgsql 9.x and generate the driver from the
pg_config.h and pg_config_os.h

[Base] Maintenance or update of the PostgreSQL driver

2013-09-27 Thread Alexandro Colorado
I've try to test the PostgreSQL database drivers.
http://www.openoffice.org/dba/drivers/postgresql/index.html

Seems the driver no longer works for the more recent versions of
PostgreSQL and/or OpenOffice.org

After installing it, I wasnt able to find the driver in Base. From a
post at the forums seems also the more recent versions 8.x and 9.x are
also not supported by the driver.

Any way to review this and fix it? Looking at the XCU, the driver name
should be:
org.openoffice.comp.connectivity.pq.Driver

Looking at the source seems to be statically builted against the 7.3.2
version of postgresql (postgresql-version.mk, prj/d.lst). The source
can be seen here:
http://www.openoffice.org/dba/drivers/postgresql/postgresql.zip

I update the XSLT directly on the binary. Both stylesheets are ascii so you
can verify them here:
$[openoffice_home]/share/config/wizard/web/layouts/layoutX.xsl and
layout.xsl

Launching OpenOffice on windows 8 after a silent installation

2013-06-27 Thread Alexandro Colorado
Hello,

There are some issues about installing OpenOffice in a Windows 8 desktop:

I can find and launch all the program in "program" folder under my
installation path. (Refer to the attached screenshot)

But I still have two problems:

1. After installation, Openoffice can not be found both in "Programs and
Features" item of control pannel and "All apps" item of Metro UI.

   Whether is this normal?

2. Except going to the program folder, whether can end user launch
openoffice by other method easily?

I haven't found any launch icon or shortcut (including
desktop/metro/system tray icons).

Issues regarding selecting curve lines

2013-06-01 Thread Alexandro Colorado
There was a bug reported on the issue regarding selecting curved connectors
that have been modified.

I was able to reproduce it, however I am not sure if this bug still exist
in 4.0. Can someone please test it?

The process is, build a curved connector, modify the way the curve altitude
is selected.

Select away, and try to re-click on the vector.

According to Armin LeGrand he said he was working on similar issues,
however this date back to 2009.

IMO they definitely are. A complete test framework is a great part of

again I think a sandbox would be more proactive than passive reading
and gives the new volunteeer to experience our system.

i like what was done with testlink, for example. and usually
screenshots of the system help understand where is the options cally

Welcome in Daisy, happy to know you want to contribute, can you please tell
us more about your skills. Do you have any development skill? As a power
user you are well underway to help us our efforts to confirm bugs and test
development versions for possible showstopper bug.

Welcome in Marian, as my comment to Eph please help us go through the
different bug reports and help us confirm the bugs reported.

once you get the hang of it, other activities such as test cases might be
very helpful to get started.

Please review the open tasks in Bugzilla https://issues.apache.org/ooo/
and see if you can confirm the reports so that bugs can be escalated to
developers and QA Managers. These are the tasks that I see fit for the
power user but new contributor.

I would recomend trying to use screenr.com which allows to do
screencasting from the brower on a vry easy manner exporting it to
youtube.

This is a very streamline way to do develop small videos like this and
combined with youtube video editor it can be useful enough.

Changing status on a bug

2012-12-01 Thread Alexandro Colorado
I wonder how bugzilla is working at the moment on the issue of changing
status of a bug. I can't remember clearly, but I thought QA people were
able to re-label the bug, from UNCONFIRM to CONFIRMED IN-PROGRESS.

However this option is disabled. So we got a few bugs that are UNCONF but
at least one or more people have replied to it to re-task it.

Should the owner assign the bug to someone first?
Should someone be able to pass it on?

Should my user needs to be upgraded on the permissions (currently as
registered-user All registered users)?
