[Qgis-developer] Value Tool and Reproj. On the Fly for raster layers
Hi! Value Tool does not work for rasters displayed through Reproj. On the Fly. Any plans to include this feature? Displaying is good, but actually accessing to the values is equally important. Also, considering this is the only tool in QGIS for the interactive check of raster values, should not this plugin be considered part of the core? [Qgis-developer] GDAL Raster Merge
I have used the QGIS 1.7.0 / GDAL 1.7.3 raster merge tool to join a number of Os OpenData GeoTiff maps. There are two issues with this: 1. The file size of the merged GeoTiff is over 10x the size of the combined originals; 2. The merged map is in greyscale only, and needs to be in colour. Does anyone know if I am doing something obviously wrong here? Thanks :) ___ Qgis-developer mailing list Qgis-developer@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-developer

Re: [Qgis-developer] Decorations
By the way I don't know when you last disabled python, but QGIS starts up really quickly without it - I think scanning python plugins adds a lot more overhead than scanning C++ ones...or maybe its loading up the python bindings in general that kill start up time. I know, there is quite a difference. One thing that makes the loading slow is that the plugin installer walks through all the plugins (even those which are disabled) and calls their classFactory() method to find out whether a plugin is broken (due some import / syntax errors). @Borys: is it possible to get rid of this check during startup? Done. The check is now performed only when installing a new plugin: https://github.com/borysiasty/Quantum-GIS In my computer (186 python plugins installed) disabling this check decreases the loading time from ~12 to ~9 sec with all plugins (except the installer) disabled, and doesn't make any visible difference when they all are enabled (~21 sec). I counted from start to the splashscreen disapear; not included the first run after any modification. To optimize the loading speed I would like to move plugins' metadata from __init__.py to a text file (e.g. metadata.txt) - this would mean that the plugin code would not have to be loaded at all if disabled. Well, I haven't noticed any difference in this. Also completely disabling the installer gives loading speed ~ 8-9 sec (the 1 sec speed-up can be within the measurement error). Moreover reading of metadata would be simpler for plugin repository. without any doubts ___ Qgis-developer mailing list Qgis-developer@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-developer

I foresee we will do some backwards incompatible changes regarding the plugins (e.g. metadata in a text file, PyQt api 2), then we may announce that repository is ready for 2.0 only plugins. Do I miss something here? Like: is there a central page do write some information about the plugin (I normally did that on my own server, but are happy to do that somewhere else (rst preferably). On the hub.qgis when registered a project you get also a wiki, documents, news and files section - probably everything you would need for a plugin. Is there already a wikipage for this scenario?
