Marco B will correct me if I am wrong but I recall him saying that the
installation takes a long time and seems to make the phone appear
locked. He was working on a patch to make a progress bar during
installation. So try just leaving the phone for a while and see if the
install in fact works.

Hi!

I had the same problem - and kept the download going by tapping the
screen once in a while ..
You should not let the screen lock ..
And it installed without any problems here (beside the big sized fonts
which are far too big for my mobile - but i guess it is not intended
to be used on mobiles ;)

[Qgis-developer] qgis on android

2011-12-13 Thread Paolo Cavallini

Hi all.
I'm trying the new installer on android 2.3, but it does not work for me:
- during downolad, if the screen locks, the download stops, and it has
to be restarted
- (maybe for the same reason) the installation fails, without detailed
notice.

Any hint on how to proceed?
Thanks.

Re: [Qgis-developer] Georeferencer produces wrong (shifted) result

2011-12-13 Thread Agustin Lobo
Manuel,

No, the correct one is the one on the left, which is the one made with
arcgis. I've made an screenshot
with transparency:
https://sites.google.com/site/openfiles2/home/errorgeorefARCG_QGIStransp.jpeg?attredirects=0&d=1
https://sites.google.com/site/openfiles2/home/errorgeorefARCG_QGIStransp.jpegw?attredirects=0&d=1

You can also note it in the first screenshot:
https://sites.google.com/site/filestemp2/home/error_georef.jpg

The points are correct (therefore the errors etc), but the
georeferenced image is shifted. May be the datum is not taken into
account
when the georeferenced image is created.

Re: [Qgis-developer] Writing new sip files

2011-12-13 Thread Stefan Keller
Hi Martin and Nathan

While searching for a solution described in a similar problem here
("Position on map centered on screen and smoothly updated by a GPS:
Any Python plug-in/code?") I found this thread.

Marco confirmed that currently there exists no Python binding for
accessing GPS signals. Class QgsGPSConnection which sends signal
'stateChanged( const QgsGPSInformation& info )' as soon as there's
something arriving from GPS.

Now since Martin encouraged us to ask him if a SIP file is missing,
I'm doing this now (unless there's a better solution around).

Thanks,
Stefan

thanks for your test case.
I did a quick test reprojection, but couldn't see a problem with the
georeferencer output, i.e. the coordinates generated by the transform fit the
destintaion coordinates within a few pixels, putting the max. error somewhere
in the ballpark of 1.5m. This relies on the destination coordinates being in
ED50 UTM31N. The georeferencer has no support for transforming the
destination coordinates, so they need to be specified in the destination CRS.

I suspect the discrepancy you are seeing might be a problem with the
WGS84<->ED50 datum transformation, so it would be helpful if you could provide
the ArcGIS output as well.

[Qgis-developer] Should icons from src/plugins/grass/themes/ be installed?

2011-12-13 Thread Niccolo Rigacci
In older (< 1.7.2) QGIS Debian packages the icons from
src/plugins/grass/themes/ where packed into
qgis-plugin-grass-common package and installed into
/usr/share/qgis/themes/ directory.

Building Debian packages for QGIS 1.7.3 that icon are not longer
installed. It seems a change into the CMakeLists.txt file, not a
Debian issue.

It that OK?

Thank you.

Hi,

FYI the patch that we have for gdal 1.8.0 is here :
http://hg.orfeo-toolbox.org/OTB-DevUtils/file/ef64ddb5b440/Packaging/ubuntu/gdal/do_not_disable_GTIFF_for_otb
and is not necessary for gdal 1.8.1

The problem appears because somehow you are using in Qgis a package
that links to libtiff (maybe from one of the python module loaded in
Qgis).

Using hasattr is very general and works in almost all the cases.

I didn't like the try - import - except block,
it may be a good option if you have to switch between functions,
classes or modules.

>> try:
>> from qgis.core import newFunctionName as function
>> except:
>> from qgis.core import oldFunctionName as function

But if you call a method within that block it could throw different
kind of exceptions (even user defined ones), so you should catch the
AttributeError only to really understand if the method is available.
On the contrary, if you don't call the method within the block but
just use the block to get the method (i.e. storing it in a variable),
than it's the same of calling the hasattr function.

I remember that when at the Wroclaw HF I added the
addPluginToDatabaseMenu method some people got a TypeError
probably due to a PyQt bug:

TypeError: 'sip.methoddescriptor' object is not callable

The solution was using hasattr [1] instead of the
try - except AttributeError block and it seems to work fine until now :)

Anyway, particular cases (e.g. a function is moved between classes
keeping its arguments like the changes made in QgsComposerView)
can be handle using a lot of other ways in python.

A very compat (and nice too) solution is to use the getattr's default third
parameter:
"""
getattr(composerView, 'addComposerShape', composition.addComposerShape)
"""

Another way may be to add a fake attribute to the new class object
that points to the method on the old class object
"""
if not hasattr(composition, 'addComposerShape'):
composition.addComposerShape = composerView.addComposerShape
"""
and then calling it as you call the API2.0 method :)
"""
composition.addComposerShape(item)
"""

... but this works fine only if the composerView is not deleted before you
call the fake method on the composition :(

It's time to go eat something.
Bye.

QTextDocument can be used for such functionality. An example in QGIS
where this class is already used is the text annotation item.

Hi list,
forwarding this thread because it relates to ubuntugis.
I'd also like to ask, why is ubuntugis-unstable still using
gdal-1.8.0, as 1.8.1 was released in July? It uses the same gdal
version as ubuntugis-stable.

Hi Pulkit

You need to modify the WFS provider to refetch the features after
changing the view extent ( but it should not be difficult ).

Hi,

I'm a new QGIS user. I'm using WFS plugin to connect my QGIS client
to a WFS server.
In WFS plugin there is an option to restrict WFS to fetch features
within the current view extent. I'm using this functionality and it
is working fine, but the problem is that after loading a layer if I
want to pan to different area then it won't fetch the data again. So
I want to know if there is any option to refresh the layer so that it
can fetch the data according to new view extent.

Thanks,
Pulkit

I had the problem again after upgrading to qgis 1.7.3.
The cause was qgis-sqlanywhere1.7.2. Removing it and installing
qgis-sqlanywhere1.7.3 fixed the problem.

[Qgis-developer] Re: Problem readingn geotif file with qgis 1.7.3

2011-12-13 Thread Agustin Lobo
The problem is caused by a faulty libgdal1-1.8.0 in ubuntugis-unstable

A solution has been suggested by Julien Malik
(see http://orfeo-toolbox.org/otb/) as he had had this problem few weeks ago
and actually made a correctly build libgdal for otb.

The solution is:
1. Make sure you have the otb repo in your list:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/otb/orfeotoolbox-stable-ubuntugis/ubuntu
(in my case, lucid)
2. Run
sudo aptitude install libgdal1-1.8.0=1.8.0-2~lucid2+otb2
libgdal1-dev=1.8.0-2~lucid2+otb2
3. Start QGIS. The tif files can be read and displayed again.

Now I have libgdal1-1.8.0 flagged as upgradeable in Synaptic, but will
not do it until the
package is fixed there.

Thanks a lot Julien!

I support Annes approach.
It's appropriate to use the Duck typing style in Python and not the C++ style
(if API_VERSION >= 2.0): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duck_typing#In_Python
If a method is called only once, one could also write
if hasattr(composerView, "addComposerShape"):
...

I've started a section on Marco's Wiki page for this:
http://hub.qgis.org/wiki/quantum-gis/API_changes_for_version_20#Best-
practises-for-Plugin-developers

Complete recompilation of core, gui libs and ogr, postgres,
spatialite providers takes about 10 minutes (should be less with
incremental steps in commits). Those libs + providers occupy about
60MB (RelWithDebugInfo). There are about 1700 commits to those dirs in
1.x line. Currently I have about 25 projects to test, each renders in
about 5 s, 10 iterations are used.

Compilation time: 1700 * 10 / 60 / 24 = 12 days
Space occupied by binaries: 1700 * 60 / 1024 = 100 GB
Benchmark time: 1700 * 25 * 6 * 10 / 3600 / 24 = 30 days

It seems feasible at least for recent history. It would be more
practical than ad hoc bisects.
