Re: [QGIS-Developer] Processing - Default Output raster extensions enumerator?

2019-09-19 Thread Alexander Bruy
Hi,

these options are not used anymore and should be removed. Correct extension now
determined automatically from the filename for file-based outputs.

[QGIS-Developer] Processing - Default Output raster extensions enumerator?

2019-09-19 Thread Alexandre Neto
Hi all,

I have realized that the processing option to determine the default output
extension as moved to the advanced settings. What I find odd is that the
value type is an integer and the default values is now 0. Changing it to 1,
seems to make the default shapefiles.

If exists, where can I find the enumeration for default values? this needs
to be documented

Thanks,

Alexandre Neto

[QGIS-Developer] Snapping map units

2019-09-19 Thread Alexandre Neto
Hi,

I have reviewing Snapping documentation, and I have a couple of questions.

Is snapping map units connected to the project CRS units? It seems to be,
because when I turn the CRS off (No projection), the snapping map unit
became . However. using say EPSG:4326 (WGS 84), the snapping
options show either pixels or meters. I though it would have to do with the
measuring settings, but try to snap a point you can see that it's actually
using the Project units (decimal degrees)

Any idea of how it was supposed to work?

Thanks,

Alexandre Neto

[QGIS-Developer] Running vs triggering/opening a custom process via Python

2019-09-19 Thread Paul Wittle
Hi,

Sorry if this is a bit of a simple question.

I have created a script in the processing toolbox and it opens a dialogue box
when you double click on it (as you would expect). Given that many users may
not understand or even open the processing toolbox I want to trigger the script
using a button in my custom plugin.

I know you can use processing.run(script/model, parameters) but I don't know
the parameters and I don't want to recreate the dialogue box in my plugin.

Is there a python command to simply trigger/open a process to run (replicate
clicking on it in the toolbox)?

Thanks,
Paul

Interesting. I'm copying this to Yves, he might be aware of who uses it and
react better than the Pr's author. If such a feature exists it would be
nice to advertise it and make sure it is self contained in qgis. Otherwise,
let's go for the deprecation warning and drop it in QGIS 4

I remember it was designed for implementing Inspire models. Not sure
about the status of this project.

But - to be harsh - this kind of hidden, implementation specific,
feature is the kind of thing we should be extremely wary of. Without
any documentation or publicly accessible explanation of how it works
it's of extremely limited use to QGIS users. At the minimum it should
have been accompanied by a documentation PR explaining how it should
be used.

I agree. I'd actually call for dropping this whole support, and if
someone will cry to keep it we'll have someone to talk with about
moving this whole support to a plugin ?

How about deprecating this functionality to drop it with QGIS 4 and
starting with 3.12 raise a warning that this is deprecated functionality?

This will leave some lead time to jump in before deprecation and some
lead time to react before removal.

Matthias
