Re: [QGIS-Developer] OSGeo4W updates (was Re: [Qgis-psc] QGIS grants?)

2018-10-15 Thread McDonaldR
Looking forward to 3.4,

I installed the latest QGIS master this morning via OSGeo4w (64bit) and
installed version 3.3.0-97 of qgis-dev on Windows 7. I get an error message
saying:

 "The program can't start because Qt5WebKitWidgets.dll is missing from your
computer."

Trying to start QGIS returns:

 "Could not load qgis_app.dll Windows Error %1 is not a valid Win32
application. Check qgis-dev-bin-g7.4.1.env for correct environment paths."

Is this because the builds are still building or has something changed in the
build process? I'll wait for another build and see if that fixes things.

I uploaded following updates to OSGeo4W (32[0] & 64bit[1]):

- Qt 5.11.2 (from 5.9.2; with sip, PyQt5, QScintilla, qca, qtkeychain and Qwt)
- Python 3.7 (from 3.6; including all 49 currently included extensions)
- PROJ 5.2.0 (from 4.9.3; plus datumgrids)
- GEOS 3.7.0 (from 3.6.2)
- SpatiaLite 4.3.0a (from 4.3.0; also with lwgeom from postgis 2.5)
- GDAL 2.3.2 (from 2.2.4; including updated/rebuilt dependencies ogdi &
  openfyba)

QGIS 2.18 are already rebuilt, but the builds of QGIS 3.2 and master are still
underway. Nightlies of 2.18 and 3.2 will follow.

For GDAL and PROJ there are also legacy packages (proj4dll and gdal202dll) with
the previos package's DLLs. So other dependencies (like GRASS) should work on
without a rebuild.

This has never been supported - all data defined properties don't currently
play well with the layer tree or map legends (and never have). Maybe something
for 3.2...

[QGIS-Developer] Data defined @symbol_color outlines

2018-02-21 Thread McDonaldR
Hi List

This issue (https://issues.qgis.org/issues/15132) refers to using the
@symbol_color function to make the outline of graduated/categorised features
the same colour as the fill. There is a fix by Nyall from over a year ago but
I wonder if there has been a regression?

I am using both the latest 2.99 master and 2.18.16 64-bit versions on Windows 7
and if I render a polygon layer using the categorised or graduated renderer and
set the outline colour using @symbol_color then the legend doesn't reflect the
style shown on the map. The features are rendered correctly (I like using
"darker(@symbol_color,150)") on the map canvas and the print composer but the
legend in the table of contents and on the composer layout show the default
outline colour.

The only way I can get the legend to update is to set the outline/stroke colour
to the fill colour for each category and then make it slightly darker - not too
much of a hassle if there are a few but a hassle if there are more than that.

Can anyone else confirm this? And has there been a regression or was the fix
for something slightly different?

Thanks in advance

Ross

Re: [QGIS-Developer] dataset icons in Browser tree

2017-07-05 Thread McDonaldR
Aye, you’re right.

If I press the info button in browser it lists the .DBF, .PRJ, .SHP, .SHX,
.XLS, .QGS, .ZIP, .FMW and .LOG files in my directory. This is for info only.
You can’t interact with these files.

In the Browser panel it lists the .SHP, .XLS, .ZIP and .QGS files and these are
the files GDAL / OGR can open. Which is correct.

Not sure if the screenshot will come through – from QGIS master 0f83a5f

Yep I'm down for that, would look pretty nice if we can I think. Bit like what

Would be still handy to see if it's line, point, etc so just need to consider

[Qgis-developer] QGIS install path changed

Good morning list,

I've just downloaded QGIS 2.18.1 for Windows (64-bit) and run the installer. I
have an existing installation of 2.18.0 installed at C:\Program Files\QGIS 2.18
and the .1 installer now wants to install into C:\Program Files\QGIS Las. I've
changed the path to my existing 2.18 installation and it has completed
successfully. However, should it have installed to the existing installation
rather than create a new directory?

[Qgis-developer] Upgrading QGIS via OSGeo4w deletes qgis-bin.exe

2016-06-17 Thread McDonaldR
Hi List,

Hopefully this is the right place to ask about QGIS and the OSGeo4W installer.

I'm just back from FOSS4GUK and wanted to update my QGIS installed on my
Windows 7 32bit machine.

I ran than OSGeo4W installer and selected all the updated packages and the
process completed successfully. However, when I want to run QGIS 2.14.3 I get
an error message saying that C:\OSGeo4W\bin\qgis-bin.exe is unavailable.
Checking the folder shows that it is not there. I've uninstalled and
reinstalled and still the 2.14.3-2 exe does not get installed. The nightly
QGIS exe is available. Oddly, QGIS Browser 2.14.3 is still installed.

Does the installation get logged somewhere? Should I just delete my OSGeo4W
folder and start again?

Thanks in advance

Ross

[Qgis-developer] Query performance in QGIS using psycopg2

2015-05-12 Thread McDonaldR
Hello list

I have a question about how QGIS (specifically the pgRouting Layer plugin) uses
psycopg2 and a connection to PostgreSQL to run a query and return a result.

I am using pgRouting with Ordnance Survey's Open Roads network for the UK. It
is a large network with over 3 million links and 2.6 million nodes. Using the
pgRouting Layer plugin in QGIS 2.6.1 and 2.8.2 to interact with the network.
It is really slow to solve routes ~ 1m20s per solution. I am also using
PgAdmin3 to run the same queries against the same network and they are also
slow (~1m20s) but I can speed them up using a bounding box in the query (in
some cases by 400x!). In the pgRouting Layer plugin I have updated the
djikstra.py file to use the query with a bounding box but the result is still
returned in ~ 1m20s. Running the same query in the SQL pane in DB Manager
returns the result in ~ 100ms.

So, I guess the question is "Is psycopg2 (or python) the bottleneck in running
queries in the pgRouting Layer plugin?" and maybe a secondary question is "how
does DB Manager connect to the database and run the query so quickly?"

The queries

Without bounding box ~ 1m20s
SELECT seq, id1 AS node, id2 AS edge, cost FROM pgr_dijkstra('
SELECT gid AS id,
 source::integer,
 target::integer,
 cost_len::double precision AS cost,
 rcost_len::double precision AS reverse_cost
FROM or_network',
   1190869, 586365, false, true);

With a bounding box ~ 200ms
SELECT seq, id1 AS node, id2 AS edge, cost FROM pgr_dijkstra('
SELECT gid AS id,
 source::integer,
 target::integer,
 cost_len::double precision AS cost,
 rcost_len::double precision AS reverse_cost
FROM or_network
WHERE geometry && ST_Expand(
(SELECT ST_Collect(the_geom) FROM
or_network_vertices_pgr WHERE id IN (1190869, 586365)),2000)',
1190869, 586365, false, true);

Thanks in advance

Ross
