There is still quite steady flow of new bug reports worth addressing.
I would suggest max. 7 days (without affecting the schedule of the

+1. Stability of QGis 2.4 should be a priority of first class. There's
no hurry to release it soon, since many people will go in holiday in
 these days :-)

Actually there is a reason. This release is timed to meet the OSGeo Live
feature freeze to ensure that 2.4 makes it onto the version for Foss4g.
That includes the version given to attendees and used in some workshops.

That said, while the freeze is the end of this month, as long as the
release is out in early July we should have no issue getting it in.
So yes please take another week to fix more bugs, but hopefully not much
beyond that.

For the record, previous Foss4g version ended up with 1.8 instead of 2.0
which is what we're trying to avoid this time around.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for that!

Maybe we should extent the testing phase to six weeks and use only 10 weeks
 for
development for 2.6 (or 10+5 or 9+6 weeks, as we're going to start one week
 late).

Sounds like a good idea.

[Qgis-developer] Please give us more time for testing and bugfixing

2014-06-19 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hi,

I hate to be the one asking for it - but I think we need more time for
testing and bugfixing.

We have a very good release feature wise - but there are still a number
of rather severe or annoying bugs to fix (some of them haven't even been
reported yet).

One month is not enough time for testing and bugfixing. People are not
always in the office, then obviously the bugs can't be immediately fixed.

I would propose to have two more weeks for stabilizing things.

Yesterday we had the Swiss QGIS user meeting. We had workshops with QGIS
master. While the features are great, there were still some issues that
need to be addressed. I took notes but did not have the time to do the
bug reports. Will do that today. I would hate to have a release with
these issues not addressed.
