[Qgis-developer] QGIS for android got GPS and compass support

2012-01-31 Thread Marco Bernasocchi

Hi all,
Lately I’ve been working on adding native GPS support to QGIS on Android
and sucessfully managed to implement it. A big thanks goes to the
municipality of Schoten in Belgium which sponsored the developement.
This functionality is included in the latest nightly builds as of
yesterday and in master-alpha4.

Furthermore I've implemented a plugin that reads the internal compass
readings and shows the value in a small dock widget.

Other bugs like the font size have been fixed and the overall look is
much nicer.

As usual, all the latest news, bugs and downloads can be found at [0] or
on my blog [1]

As a last message, remember that any economic support will make QGIS on
android evolve much quicker, so if you can, or know somebody who could,
please consider sponsoring.

Ciao
Marco

[Qgis-developer] QGIS on android ALPHA3

2012-01-18 Thread Marco Bernasocchi
Hi all, last night i pushed a new stablish version of QGIS for
android. I've closed some tickets [0] and thanks to an improvement in
master (thx Jef), now the fontsize problem could be fixed as well (I
tested it on an asus transformer and it looks great).
I fixed some widgets as well which are now not too big anymore and can
now be closed. There still are some widgets that are too big (layer
properties and raster calculator for example, but we are looking into it.

As well I worked a bit on the installation, now there should be no more
first run crash. In this version I temporarly disabled the back button
which used to crash the app if used. This is not ideal but at least
avoids crashing your work when hitting that button. This is a necessitas
(Qt on android) known problem and should get fixed in necessitas alpha4
or beta1.

As usual you can find all happening around QGIS for android and the
installer at [1]
I hope in your feed back and remember that any founding you might
have/find will help a lot in getting all QGIS on android getting stable
faster.

Ciao Marco

Re: [Qgis-user] Re: [Qgis-developer] QGIS on android ALPHA3

2012-01-18 Thread Richard Duivenvoorde

Hi Marco,

just tested installation on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, getting really cool!

Had a little hickup during first installation try, but second try
revealed a really good looking QGIS on Android!!
Font and gui are really looking good now (only dialogs still have big
fonts, and tht tickboxes in the legend become a little small on my screen?)
I could load wms and rasterlayers, but shapefiles and wmsc freeze/crash
qgis (also creating shapes, something which was successfull in the
earlier alpha). Will try to put the tablet in eclipse/adb and sent you
log files if needed/

Thanks!
