Hi Don,
can you provide more information on your problem like:
- what are the errors, what did fail exactly?
- can you provide some example data in your choosen format?
- how did you import the data?

best
Stefan

Hi Dave,

You could have a look at "Rule-based" rendering:

[Qgis-user] Change Symbol

2019-12-09 Per discussione Dave Gardiner
Hi - I'm undertaking a crash course in using QGIS for a geological
application. I have imported field data into a layer which holds tabled
attributes against a symbol feature. Can someone please advise me how to
change the symbol style (even to a different symbol altogether) depending
upon the value returned against the attribute. For example, The Feature is
"localityID" of which one of its attributes is "planeType". planeType has a
variable against it e.g. Bedding or Fault or Outcrop etc. Depending on the
value, I would like to differentiate as a unique symbol.
Hope someone can help

Don't know :-). I use self-compiled SAGA because all repositories for
a long time
offered only very outdated 2.3.x version. And because you can have
master version
only by compiling it.

If it was hidden you won't find/access it :-).

Hi Alexander,

what is the difference between self-compiled saga and that from
ubuntugis (now 7.4)?

Just by accident, I stumble about your repository mentioned somewhere on
stackexchange just a few minutes ago.
Is there a specific reason you hide your stuff this well? ;)

SAGA for processing just offers me SAGA 7.3, stuff is shown in the
toolbox, but a simple buffer on points did not produce a result, so
obvioulsy it's not working.
I'm not a BIG SAGA user as well, but once in a while you wish to use
some nifty functions the others don't have.

From reading the mailing lists I understand that following the jumps of
SAGA in each version is a pain in the a., but for feature completeness
,it's a real "nice to have".

Cheers,

Bernd

[QGIS-it-user] tipo di campi espressione in viste geopackage

2019-12-09 Per discussione francesco marucci
gentile lista,
ho un piccolo problema che però non riesco a risolvere:
all'interno di un geopackage ho creato una vista, nella quale ho generato
un campo con una espressione (tipicamente un count(*) as tot_comuni, per
fare un esempio);

il problema è dato dal fatto che questo campo, proveniente da una
espressione, in SQLITE non ha un tipo (pur avendo provato tutti i cast del
mondo), come leggo da qui:
https://www.sqlite.org/datatype3.html

   - 3.2 Affinity Of Expressions: "... Otherwise, an expression has no
   affinity."
   - 3.3 Column Affinity For Views And Subqueries: ... "expressions always
   have no affinity".

infatti un:
pragma table_info([mia_tabella]);

restituisce:

0 gid INTEGER 0 0
1 geom MULTIPOLYGON 0 0
2 nome TEXT(58) 0 0
3 tot_comuni 0 0

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/54480436/how-to-get-sqlite-column-types-from-view-columns

nel caso specifico sono in QGIS 3.4.10 sia deb che win, SQLITE 3.26.0.

che ne pensate?
apro un ticket?

grazie.

saluti,
francesco

[Qgis-user] 3.10 Feature: Data defined settings in text formats

2019-12-09 Per discussione Stefan Giese

Hi all,

I am just preparing a workshop for thursday "The very best of QGIS
3.10". I am struggeling about the new layout feature "Data defined
settings in text formats" which is or would be fantastic - defining a
project variable @myfont="courier" and changing and setting the text
font project wide with one click - fantastic! I can't find the settings
for data-defined text settings for legend items and labels in the
layout. for scalebar it works...do I miss something?

Best regards

Stefan

Re: [Qgis-user] problems running saga tools in QGIS 3.4.13

Dear Nicolas,

You were exactly right, the problem was the spaces and accent in the
path. I did ran the interpolation in SAGA but the it was just a part of
the whole process which is much more easier to run completely inside qgis.

Jonathan.

[Qgis-user] Expanding the height range of an altitude Bil file

2019-12-09 Per discussione Jeff Smith
Sir / Madam

I would like to know if is possible to expand the height range according to
the Bil files ratios?

For example if I have a Bil file with a range of 500m to 750m and I would
like to make it 500m to 3000m in the same ratio of increases in height
ratio.

I have had a problem with exporting large images, where if the pixels go
over 2 the program gives an error and shuts down. It would be nice if
it gave you a warning and allowed you to make parameter changes instead.
