Re: [Qgis-user] Batch Processing Tool for Wedge Buffers

2024-02-11 Per discussione krishna Ayyala via QGIS-User
Ujaval,
Thanks for the reply. When I add generate_series expression and click ok,
only one more row is getting added to the batch process tool. i.e.90 degree
azimuth got added. 180 and 270 were not added. Is there a way that, the
batch tool can read directly from the attribute table and generate the
wedge buffers? The reason is; the example that I gave has only four
features. But my original file has 100 features. It will be difficult to
enter all 100 values manually. If the tool can pull these values from the
attribute table and generate wedge buffers that will be free of errors.

[Qgis-user] Creating Wedge buffers automatically

2024-02-09 Per discussione krishna Ayyala via QGIS-User
Hello,
I have a single point feature with the following attributes. I wish to
create wedge buffers automatically. I saw the "Create wedge buffers tool"
in QGIS but that does not work for me. The reason is; in that tool we have
to manually enter the azimuth, wedge width and radius. Is there a tool that
can automatically recognize the azimuth and radius (Dist) and create wedge
buffers as shown below. The reason is; I have to create wedge buffers for
50 points, each point having different azimuths. For example Point 1 has
azimuths of 0,90,180,270. Point2 has azimuts of 45,135,225,315 so on and so
forth.

I am looking to create a wedge buffer as shown below. Yellow dot is the
point feature of the above attribute table.

to a smaller size file? It can be any format, not necessarily a shapefile.
But, preferably a vector format. I tried to convert it into tiles, but that
didn't work as it was losing the resolution. I am looking to convert this
5GB size file to about 500MB.

Nicolas, I ran the Drape tool as shown below. It resulted in a new line
feature called "Draped" and added to my map. But this new feature has
exactly same attributes as that of "Lines" feature. i.e. it does not have
any new field such as Z added to the attribute table.

Elevation and grade profiles along each of these lines? Is there a way to

Hello friends,
I am reposting this question. Can anyone help me answer this question?

I have downloaded "comtypes-1.1.11.zip" from the link below. Unzipped it.
It resulted in several files and also folders.

I have copied all these files from the unzipped folder and pasted in the
following location on my computer.

C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.6

Then, I ran the tool. I am getting the following error message. I am sorry
I have no knowledge of python scripting.

[Qgis-user] Request help with importing tool

Hello,
Can anyone help me with this please? I wish to convert Arcgis map to qgis
map. I have downloaded "Mapqonverter.tbx" from the link below.

https://github.com/WhereGroup/mapqonverter

I have added the "Mapqonverter.tbx" to the arcmap tool box. In the tool box
there are two script files. 1.ArcMap Project to QGIS Project and 2. Style
Gallery Export. The script file "ArcMap Project to QGIS Project " is blank
i.e. there is no script in it. So, I copied the script from
"mapqonverter.py" from the above github link and pasted. When I ran the
tool, I get the following error message.

[Qgis-user] Drop the points and show only clusters

2022-01-30 Per discussione krishna Ayyala
Hello,

I am re-posting this question. I have a point shape with about 1000 points.
On the map, I wish to show only those points that are within 1000ft of each
other and drop the rest of the points.

I have used the "overlay_nearest" formula for my points layer.
Irrespective of whatever number I assign for "max_distance" I am getting
the value 1 for the new field for all the 1000 records of the points layer.
i.e. I am not getting 0 value for any of the records. I tried for various
distances starting from 1 upto 1000. For ex:1,5,10,100,500,1000 etc. I am
getting the value only 1 for all the records of the new field. My map units
are set to meters.

I have used the below formula and changed the max_distance to different
values as mentioned above. I am herewith attaching the points shapefile
again.

overlay_nearest('Points',max_distance:=1000)

Helo
I watched the video in the weblink below. I was able to get up to the layer
styling step. But,I am unable to figure out how to accomplish this task. I
am herewith attaching the sample data of 1000 points. Can anyone please
guide me the steps so that I will have only those points that are within
1000ft of each other and drop the rest of the points?

Regards.

Hello,
I have a point shape with about 10,000 points. On the map, I wish to show
only those points that are within 1000ft of each other and drop the rest of
the points. All I am trying to see is only the clusters. Can anyone help

up in the attribute table. There are other fields such as "description",
"timestamp", "begin", "end" which show in the attribute table. These other

Charles,
Sorry for so many questions. As I mentioned before, I am able to create
georeferenced tiff file as per instructions in the link below. But, when I
overlay this tiff file on top of the shapefile, the size of the points in
tiff file is not same as that of the size of the points in the shapefile. I
tried to export to tiff file with different resolutions, but that did not
work. Is there a way to fix that?

[Qgis-user] Point Shape file to Raster conversion.

2021-09-20 Per discussione krishna Ayyala
Hello,
I have a point shape file. Is it possible to convert it to a raster such
that the resultant file will also appear like points only. Similar to how
it was looking like when it was a vector file.

Regards.

[Qgis-user] Rule based to Categorized Symbology - Conversion

2021-08-24 Per discussione krishna Ayyala
Hello,
I have a layer in my QGIS map. I have symbolized it in Rule-based
symbology. Is it possible to convert it to categorized symbology without
losing the original symbology as it was in rule-based?

The reason is; I am trying to export the layer to kmz using the Export KMZ
tool (within KML tools). This tool exports only single, categorized, and
graduated symbol styles . Hence, I wish to convert "rule based" to
"categorized".

Hello,
I am reposting this question.I have few shapefiles that have QML style
files. The symbology of shapefiles works perfectly fine within QGIS.
However, when I add these shapefiles to ArcGIS online maps, the symbology
does not get translated. Is there a way to convert the QML style symbology
to ESRI compatible style?

Thanks for your reply. I am also using the exact same version7.3.4.8248

"big points". Just now, I checked, I see only 3 small points above the big
points while one is behind the big point. Second time when I open I see
only two small points above the big points.

Dear Charles,
Thanks for your reply. I am attaching the sample data which contains the
shapefiles and the kmz file. There are four small points (A,B,C,D) that
should fall on top of four big points (E,F,G,H).

Each time I open the kmz, I am getting different results. One time I
donot see any of the small points. Another time I see one small point on
top of big points. Another time I see two small points on top of the big
points. Is there a way such that, anytime I open the kmz, I should
always see all the four small points on top of the big points.

[Qgis-user] Layer Ordering for KMZ

2021-08-13 Per discussione krishna Ayyala
Hello,
I have a QGIS map with two vector point layers. Layer 1 is "Small_Points"
and Layer 2 is "Big_Points". I have the KML tool plugin installed. I have
exported each of these layers using "Export KMZ" tool. Everything exported
well including the symbology.

But When I add these two KMZ layers to the google earth, always
"Big_Points" layer appears on top of "Small_Points" layer. In the table of
contents, I tried to move "Small_Points" layer on top of "Big_Points"
layer. Despite of that "Big_Points" layer appears on top of "Small_Points"
layer on the map. Can anyone help me fix this such that "Small_Points"
appear on top of "Big_Points".

[Qgis-user] Single lines for road network

Hello,
I have a huge road network that has double lines such as below. We see such
roads mostly for express highways.

In the same road network, there are also some streets with single lines

Is it possible to convert the entire road network such that we have only
single lines and not double lines such as above. Since the road network is
huge, it may not be possible to select manually each segment and run the
tools. Is there an automated tool that can do this for the entire network?

When I enter the Polygon in the column field and calculate, I am getting
like this. When I select row 2 and Click Features --- Show Selected on map,
all the four polygons are getting highlighted.

[Qgis-user] Raster to Vector without losing the symbology

2021-07-18 Per discussione krishna Ayyala
I have an image on my qgis map that has 3 bands. Band1 (red), Band2(green)
and Band3(blue). This image has different colors. Is it possible to convert
this image into a vector which should look exactly like the image.

That means; Is it possible to have the vector file that should have the
same colors as that of the image.

Nicolas,
Thanks for your reply. They are not multi polygons. They are two
separate polygons. That means A with area 60 is one polygon and A with area
30 is second polygon. If I select one polygon on the map, only one polygon
gets highlighted. But, in group stats ,I have selected the first row which
is A 60. I clicked "Features" and then "Show selected on map" both the
polygons on the map are getting highlighted. As I mentioned before, only
one polygon should get highlighted. If I create a unique id, that will not
serve the purpose. I am trying to derive the polygon with maximum area
from the list of polygons that are labeled as A.

[Qgis-user] Group Statistics Tool

2021-07-17 Per discussione krishna Ayyala
Hello,
I have a polygon shape file with an attribute table as shown below.

I am using the Group stats tool to derive only those rows that have max
area for each polygon. After clicking calculate, I got the results below.
In the below window. I have selected the first row which A 60. I clicked
"Features" and then "Show selected on map" . Technically, it is supposed to
highlight only one polygon which is A with an area 60 on the map. But is
highlighting both the polygons i.e..A with an area 60 and also A with an
area 30. Is there a way to select only the polygon A with an area 60?

Stefan,
Thanks a lot for your reply. I have upgraded my QGIS version to 3.20 and
added the kmz file on to my map. Still I am getting the plain rectangle. I
am not getting the symbology as it is in the original Kmz.Actually my Kmz
has circles with colors inside it.

Re: [Qgis-user] How to convert multiple features to single Feature - Shape file

Tiago,
Thanks for your reply. Actually my shapefile is a polyLine. It is not a
polygon. My polyline shape file had about 6000 lines. When I ran
'multiparts to single parts" It resulted in a shapefile which also had 6000
lines. I was hoping it to be simplified to 30 or 40 lines but that did
not happen.

I have a line shapefile named "ShortestPath.shp". Whenever I select one
line feature for the "ShortestPath" shapefile, I see the following message
at the bottom left corner of the window. For example: "9 feature(s)

Is there a way, whenever I select one line feature, It should appear as
one line feature at the bottom left corner. The tools such as simplify and

Nicolas,
Thanks for your reply. Changing the field format and saving to a different
file format did not work for me. Just now, I noticed that, Whenever I
select one line feature for the "ShortestPath" shapefile, I see the
following message at the bottom left corner of the window. For example:
"2148 feature(s) selected on layer shortest path. i.e. More than one
features appear at the bottom left corner for each line that I select. I am
trying to figure out how this will appear as 1 feature instead of 2148
features. The tools such as simplify and dissolve did not work for me.
