Thanks Andreas. I know and appreciate (and cite often, during my
presentations) the sponsorship of Kanton Solothurn - thanks again!
Be sure I am testing it - keep an eye on the trac!
Having 1.0 preview1 packages for main distros would be an advantage for
wider testing - I can provide lenny debs for amd64 if someone finds them
useful.
All the best.

Hi Paolo,

the printing enhancements currently developed by Marco Hugentobler are
sponsored by the Kanton Solothurn and the City of Uster in Switzerland.

Templates that can be saved and loaded as well as multiple layouts in
the project files is definitely something that we want. So chances are
high that it will be included in the future. It will need some time
though. One after the other ...

I encourage people to test the new printing enhancements prior to the
final release of QGIS 1.0. This is important for stabilizing the
features and fixing the bugs.

When using Grass in QGIS a lot of the operations rely on you having data loaded
in the map first. Try loading a shapefile, and make sure it's visible. Then use
the v.in.ogr

Andreas,

I agree with you. I actually have postgresql installed on my mac.
But this would just be a temporary vector file (an input to a
satellite classification). So I am looking (if there are) ways just
to make it usable for now. I might consider postgis if all quick and
dirty efforts would be fruitless

Both should run on a Mac. Postgis is of course easier to install and

All my vectors are in GRASS database and I view them with QGIS.
For editing vector attributes, I basically browse the GRASS vectors in
QGIS then edit the dbf attributes with OpenOffice calc or base.
So far so good. This time I have a vector with more than 100K

When using Grass in QGIS a lot of the operations rely on you having data
loaded in the map first. Try loading a shapefile, and make sure it's
visible. Then use the v.in.ogr

that's because in the current mapset there are no available vector layers

Paul,

if you want to use GRASS into QGIS you don't need nothing than QGSI itself,
that natively comes with GRASS (and all its dependencies) bundled.
a different version of gdal than the one contained in the QGIS release will
never work with that version of QGIS

I created a GRASS mapset in c:\grassdata, a location = newyork and the mapsets

I installed GDAL in c:\gdalwin32-1.5
I added c:\gdalwin32-1.5\data to my path

I've copied my shape file sets to C:\grassdata\newyork\PERMANENT (I don't know

Then I tried to import a shapefile with v.in.ogr ,
