[Qgis-user] Help make Lisbon hackfest a success

2011-04-09 Thread Paolo Cavallini
Hi all.
Our next developer meeting is approaching:
http://www.qgis.org/wiki/5._QGIS_Hackfest_in_Lisbon_2011
26 participants, including most core developers, are expected to join.
During the meeting we'll discuss about future improvements of QGIS,
we'll squash many bugs, and hopefully we'll release version 1.7, another
major step forward. Even if you cannot participate in flesh, your help
is important. You are invited to be on the IRC channel, to participate
to discussions, to help tidying up the bug queue, etc.
It is not too late also to help financially: your donations will make
life easier and more pleasant for developers, by paying for their food
and drinks, traveling and lodging. Remember, we are all donating our
time, please do your part.
All the best.

Yes it is possible to define custom color ramps: either in Style
manager dialog (menu Options -> Style manager) or when selecting a
color ramp for categorized/graduated renderer, the last item in the
combo box is "new color ramp". There is a support for gradients,
random colors and colorbrewer ramps.

Btw. you are doing a great job with the "how do I do" pages on the wiki!

Re: [Qgis-user] print composer error?

2011-04-09 Thread Marco Hugentobler
Hi Kosza

Could it be that the raster map is transparent? QGIS tries to draw the raster
in several pieces with a certain overlap (to save memory). Therefore the band
appears only in the output with higher resolution than screen.

Probably it would be good to have (in future) the option to draw the rasters
in one tile.

Marco

Hi Subbu,

I don't think this is qgis related.
The plugin just uses other tools to download data from osm-api server.

If I convert your bounding box to decimal degrees:

78.7667 11.4167 10.3667 78.00

I get the following message from the plugin:

Download failed: Download process failed. OpenStreetMap server response:
Bad Request - The maximum bbox size is 0.25, and your request was too
large. Either request a smaller area, or use planet.osm.

It's just that the OSM server does not want to provide al this data via
the osm-api

You can either get small boxes of 0.25x0.25 degrees but it is easier te
get a data set from mirrors like:

http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/asia/

there are a lot of other mirrors for that:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Planet.osm#Mirrors

Additionally, you can directly download areas larger than 0.5X0.5
degrees from the xapi interface, explained here:

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Downloading_data#Construct_a_URL_for_the_HTTP_API

[Qgis-user] Dissolve a shapefile in qgis

2011-04-09 Thread Manuel Spínola
Dear qgis users,

I am trying to use the dissolve function of the ftools to "merge" 3 polygons
of a shapefile but qgis get stuck on the 66% of the "status bar".

Any idea why I cannot dissolve the shapefile?

Thank you very much in advance.

Best,

Manuel

Thanks for that.
If I see properly, for colour brewers, I get to choose a colour pattern suite,
how many colours are there and that's about it.
Now, what happens if I was looking for something that was approximately like
the Spectrum colourbrewer, but with the colours backwards (blues low, reds
high) (or even define whole new colour suites).
Is that possible?

[Qgis-user] error with r.cost

2011-04-09 Thread ambijat

Hi All,
I am trying to create shortest path between two raster points (converted
from v.to.rast) and I use the STRM data for the input values between the
two points. This is the error I get.

r.cost input=afg_rast@user1 output=salroute start_rast=salang@user1
max_cost=0 -k

G_malloc: unable to allocate 524288 bytes at setup.c:64

Finished with error

Any idea why I am getting this?

Thanks and regards,
