[Qgis-user] Copy and Paste Features not bringing in attributes

2015-04-30 Thread Leahy, Thomas A.
Hello,

   I have save as a layer to a new name and then deleted all the features it
had then I select the features that I want from the original file and copy and
paste them into the new file but even though they are the exact same structure
and field names everything other than the geometry comes in as NULL. Any ideas
why the data from the fields (other than geometry) are not pasting in?

  Thank you.

Re: [Qgis-user] Copy and Paste Features not bringing in attributes

2015-04-30 Thread Ramon Andiñach
Hmm, ok I noticed something like this today too.

I selected the polygons from the first layer and saved them in a new layer.

But I accidentally missed selecting a couple, so I copied and pasted them from
the old layer into the new one.
They showed up with null for the attributes.
Null on pasting.
Null after saving.
Null after closing and reopen info the attribute table.

Didn't have more time to play with it so I redid the selection properly and
saved it over again.

-ramon.

Re: [Qgis-user] show labels only, if objects are activated/visible

2015-04-30 Thread Andreas Neumann

Hi Bernhard,

Yes - we sort of have rule based labeling with the data-defined
properties and conditions. But for very complex labeling it is a bit
hard to track. The rules are so distributed in different
places/properties that it is hard to get an overview what is really
going on.

I mean the UI of the rule-based symbology is nicer and allows to change
multiple graphical properties of the same rule at once.

There is certainly room for improvements.

A coupling of rendering and labeling would be quite interesting (esp.
for the case Otto is mentioning where users want to selectively
enable/disable rules/categories), I think - but I don't know if it is
technically solvable (or how hard it is).

Re: [Qgis-user] show labels only, if objects are activated/visible

2015-04-30 Thread Bernhard Ströbl

Hi Andreas,

I agree, the UI is much nicer and it would be great to have a similar
one for the labels where you define a rule and then set text color, halo
etc. for this case (and even the label text itself). Currently you have
to click into data-defined properties and reenter the same rule at
several places.

Yes the coupling of geometry rendering and labelling would be good to
have. Currently features are labeled even if the are covered by other
features. No idea how much effect this would have on the rendering speed.

The GRASS module v.rast.stats does what you want. But it's not in the

[Qgis-user] differences between QGIS under KDE and GNOME for user manual 2.8

2015-04-30 Thread Larissa Junek
Hello

for the user manual I'd like to check the diffences of the
QGIS GUI between KDE and GNOME. We have a paragraph for
this in qgis_gui.rst. Can you help me by having a look at
this? Maybe the information is still up to date, I have no
idea (-;
Is there someone who uses QGIS 2.8 under GNOME GUI?
Anyway I can write the *.rst-file and just need updated information
about the QGIS GUI under GNOME.

Thanks.

Cheers, Larissa

[Qgis-user] QGIS 2.6.1 Brighton and GeoJSON CRS 2770

2015-04-30 Thread Paul Cleverley
Hi

I have three geojson files.

File #1 is in 4326 and has the following crs :
crs:
  {
type: link,
properties:
{
  href:
http://www.opengis.net/def/crs/EPSG/0/4326;,
  type: proj4
   }
  },

File #2 is in 27700 and has the following crs:
crs:
{
type: name,
properties:
{
name: EPSG:27700
}
},

File #3 is identical to File #2 except for the crs which is
crs:
{
type: link,
properties:
{
href: http://www.opengis.net/def/crs/EPSG/0/27700;,
type: proj4
}
},

File #1 and #2 load into QGIS and display as I would expect.

File #3 loads but does not display. While its properties shows an extent in BNG

xMin,yMin 476285.30,230902.30 : xMax,yMax 496530.40,256158.20

the layer spatial reference system shows:

+proj=longlat +datum=WGS84 +no_defs

I suspect what's going on is that the link type crs is ignored and QGIS
defaults make it ok - but with the link crs in File #3 it goes kerplooie...

Any thoughts?

Much appreciated
Paul

Hello,

I have a csv file with a list of coordinates. for example one of
them: X Y 12374462.4355 4877977.8396

notice the (to me at least) strange X coordinate: in the 12millon
range.

This might be a false Easting. In the Soviet Union, 3-degree or 6-degree
Gauss-Krueger systems based on the Pulkovo datum were common. To
distinguish the zones, a high value of false Easting was added.

I know the point should land somewhere near the Kazach town of
Shalkya, with coordinates in the EPSG3857 (WGS 84 pseudo mercator) of
+/- X: 750800 Y: 5472000

These coordinates end up in the South of France for me.
There might be one digit missing for the Easting.

Re: [Qgis-user] [QGIS-UX] QGIS fonts in print composer

2015-04-30 Thread Anita Graser
Hi Sarah,
I'm afraid this does not seem like a question for the usability mailing
list. Please use the user mailing list for problems relating to the use of
certain QGIS features. Also, can you provide the font you mentioned for
debugging purposes?
Best wishes,
Anita

 Hi qgis community,

 My team and I are having trouble with fonts in qgis print composer. we all
 have various versions as we all joined at different times. ( i use 2.4.0,
 while one other colleague uses 2.6.1, etc. ). We use a font set called Clan
 Pro, and only some of the fonts work at any given font size. What's more,
 which fonts work and don't seems to vary amongst all of us!

 does anybody know a solution? is there some version of qgis where fonts
 are better functioning?

 Thanks,
 Sarah

[Qgis-user] Add mssql non-geometric tables

2015-04-30 Thread Peter Schürch
Hi
Does anybody know how to add a non-geometric table from an mssql database to a
qgis project?
Do I need to add it in the table geometry_columns? If yes what would be the
appropriate attribute values there?

Thanks

[Qgis-user] Field expression for file name?

2015-04-30 Thread nicolas.cadi...@archeotec.ca

Hi,
I am building an index of a LiDar project (using .las files). I can use
lasboundary.exe to create .shp boundary polygon for each individual file
(using the merge option will only create one big polygon). I can then
use vector/data management tools/merge the shapefile to one to make
one file.

The problem is I need a field (the file names) for each polygon. Is
there an field expression for this?

This field is not created by lasboundary or my merge the shapefile to
one. Perhaps I can use the Advanced Python field calculator in batch
mode in the processing plugin but I don't know how to return the files
names. Can someone help or give my and idea of how to proceed?

Thanks in advance
Nicolas

[Qgis-user] Problem with loading layers from a project

2015-04-30 Thread James Keener
I'm trying to load a project via python (original project and the single
shp file (the extension should be .zip), along with the project after
saving, are attached). When I load the project, there are no layers,
and if I write the project out, it doesn't contain the original layer
either.

I'm sure (or at least hope!) that I'm just doing something little (and
non-obvious?) wrong.

As an aside: this is a condensed test. If you add a group into the
project, the group will show up in the layer list and will be written
back out, but no other layers will be found.

Thank you,
Jim
