[Qgis-user] American Red Cross offers QGIS training

2015-06-05 Thread Brent Wood

Things are very positive for Open Source (or at least QGIS) when the Red Cross
joins all the other institutions supporting & training users.

I think, with good reason!!

Hi ??
If you have problems like this - it is essential to describe the problem in
details.
EG: How does your attribute structure look like for GPX from QGIS and OSMand. -
Otherwise no one can help.

Emne: [Qgis-user] save as .gpx?

Has anyone got the .gpx files that qgis produces to work in apps such as OSMAND?

.gpx files produced by other programs seem to work ok with OSMAND but those
from qgis just show up as dots and it is not possible to label the points even
though the point labels are present in the .gpx file.

It appears to be a formatting issue with the .gpx files from qgis, I raised it
a year or two ago but the problem still seems to be present. It is very
annoying when trying to produce maps for people who need to go into the field
to specific points, they don't know which point to aim for as they just see a
screen of dots with no indication which is which.

Re: [Qgis-user] Loading OS Mastermap Data into QGIS

2015-06-05 Thread Saber Razmjooei
Hi Martin,

OS Translator II can load your files. But you need to install and configure a
PostGIS connection:

http://www.bostongis.com/PrinterFriendly.aspx?content_name=postgis_tut01

Once PostGIS is installed, you need to create a connection to your database in
QGIS. OS Translator II can be then used to load all your data into PostGIS:

http://www.lutraconsulting.co.uk/blog/2015/02/23/loading-mastermap-free-easy-fast/

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Subject: [Qgis-user] Loading OS Mastermap Data into QGIS

OS Masterdata. ITN files in the format .gz

I am struggling, as a new user to load all of these files into QGIS 2.8.

I can load files one at a time (or select all the files in a sub-folder), each
time getting a new window asking which vector layers to add (Road, RoadLink,
RoadNode - which appear to be all that any of the files contain) and then
having to hit Select All and OK. Each one of these then creates a new layer.

I've searched the internet and found several solutions (so called) that say
they can load OS data but I cannot find one that works. (add in OS Translator
II, and a few other external programs that I have now lost track of).

Surely there is a way to load all these files without having to do Select All
and OK, fo each single file, and to create one single layer?

Thanks for any help.

Actually I have the opposite problem, I want to show the point labels, my file
only has points in it. I can see the labels in the .gpx file if I look at it
with notepad++ but the labels will not show up in other programs such as osmand
or indeed google earth.

I figured out to set the Layeroption "FORCE_GPX_TRACK = YES" when exporting
from QGIS to see lines in OsmAND and not points.

If you have a polygon layer with the desired shape, you can put it on topo

On the other hand, you can also do that exporting the map to svg and do the

[Qgis-user] Problems with Override definition for simbol size

2015-06-05 Thread Alexandre Neto
I'm trying to use override definitions to set a circular symbol of a
specific size.

The symbol units is in mm, and the expression used is:

0.0025 * "field_1"

I would expect that once printed, a point with a value of 2 would have
a size of 50 mm diameter. But instead, it's just 22,5 mm.

This become more evident when, trying to create a legend for my map, I
duplicate the layer and create categories with some values and manually set
the symbols values. The 2 value is set to 50 mm, and the legend prints
at the right.

I'm still using 2.8.1, but it seams that 2.8.2 is behaving the same way. Is
this a bug? Or am I missing something?

Thanks,
