Re: [Qgis-user] Counting instances of points and representing totals

2015-09-29 Thread Christine
Good morning,

what about creating a buffer with a distance of your choice and counting the
points inside the buffer (count points inside polygon)? If you dissolve the
buffers, you should get the sum of accidents in a range defined by you
buffer distance. That could help in case your accident points have not
exactly the same coordinates although beeing very close.

For visualisation you could then use either the buffer area (e.g. classified
with colours) or points with the sum of accidents from centroids of the
buffers (e.g. symbol sizes).

What you want to do, seems to be a hotspot analysis that could be solved
with CrimeStat ( Wikipedia ,
Official Website ) ...

Regards, Christine

Re: [Qgis-user] Counting instances of points and representing totals

2015-09-29 Thread Randal Hale
If every Accident has an ID for location you can use the group stats
plugin to summarize the # of wrecks in each location. You could then
save that out to a text file and join it to a point layer and get the
graduated symbol you are after.

If not - I'm thinking you set a very small buffer in each location and
then use the Points in Polygon tool under vector -> analysis (I think).

Good Luck, We're all counting on you!

Hi,
The easy way out is to do a cross tabulation in excel or libre office calc and
to then link both data bases together based on the point id.  I think
there may also be a cross tabulation plugin in QGIS???  I would need to
look on a computer to make sure.

[Qgis-user] Error when "save as" the dataset

2015-09-29 Thread Andrea Peri
Hi,

I notice that in the qgis 2.10.
When try to export using "save as" a shapefile.

I have an error from ogr:

Esportazione nel file vettoriale fallita.
Errore: Errori nella scrittura dell'elemento:
Geometria dell'elemento non importata (errore OGR: )
Geometria dell'elemento non importata (errore OGR: )
Geometria dell'elemento non importata (errore OGR: )
...

In english

Exportation in the vector file faildes
Error: errors in the write:
Geometry of the elements not imported (OGR error).

I notice also that if I select a few elements and repeat the save-as
using ony selected elements.
All go ok.

Instead if I select ALL the elements of the dataset and try the export with
save-a (using selection)
have again the ogr error.

Perhaps a memory error ?

I'm use wndows 7 and qgis-2.10 32bit.

Should I open a ticket for qgis 2.10 ?

Thx.
