why do you need the same geometry type in order to make a join ?
You just need one common field.

With this new version the connection to PostgresSQL 9.3 database seems

[Qgis-user] OTB TrainImagesClassifier not avainlable? QGIS 2.10.1

2015-10-19 Thread Carl
Hi,
I just installed QGIS 2.10.1 and I get a: ERROR: Could not find application
"TrainImagesClassifier" when using Orfeo
Toolbox/Learning/TrainImagesClassifier (rf).

I previously had this working (2.10 I think) but had to reinstall. Other
Orfeo tools work, so I'm pretty sure I have things configured properly. The
c:\OSGeo4w64\bin\otbcli_TrainImagesClassifire.bat is present.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Carl

Working of Windows 7.

Re: [Qgis-user] qGIS and Avenza pdfMap

2015-10-19 Thread Laurence Béchet

Hi,

I exactly had the same question some time ago. Here are the few steps
I'm following for my maps:

1) in the composer manager, tick "world file on" as Goyo's explained and
export as a tiff file (actually you'll get 2 files, the tiff one and one
with the geo reference data). You must have qGIS 2.10 at least to get
that "world file on" option in composer, though
2) upload the tiff file in qGIS (you'll get the message that the file
doesn't have any CRS)
3) select raster/ conversion/ translate and your Target SRS to create
your final georeferenced tiff file (if you uploaded that new tiff in
qGIS, you would not get the message that it doesn't have a CRS)

4) upload that last file in pdfmaps!

Cheers
Laurence

I am a new user to QGIS, and interested in making referenced pdf maps for
Avenza App. I find this app excellent out in the middle of no where as the GPS
on my phone places me on the map. I tend to be rather adventurous, and often
can find images of maps for places I travel, but not with the geo referencing.
I have tried to use QGIS and was able to make images with references, but when
using print composer to save the pdf, Avenza says the map is not referenced. :(

Obviously I am not doing something correctly, could some one give me a short
tutorial or point me to a tutorial?

I have attached link of a map of interest.

Hello Andreas, thanks for your comment.
actually, I am working on a large report where I will have to make several
pages (+/- 10: a page for each layer in my project) and multiply them again
with the atlas generator. (times 50!) I hope it will work out …
I found your work-around this afternoon, studying basic HTML since supper now…

Re: [Qgis-user] repeat image on every page in print composer

2015-10-19 Thread Andreas Neumann

Hi Joris,

Currently, only the HTML item has a "Repeat on every page" option. So -
as your workaround you could write a very small HTML, which references
an image.

I agree, an option to repeat an item on every page would be useful for
any element - e.g. labels, image, etc.

If you talk about Atlas context - of course all the elements in the
Atlas template would repeat on every page ...

[Qgis-user] QGIS hardware recommendations?

2015-10-19 Thread Nicolas Cadieux
Hi,

We are building new (Windows 10) computers for QGIS and I was wondering if
there is any new hardware consideration to think of? I don't want a gamer style
debate on Intel vs AMD or nvidia vs ATI but I am wondering if the QGIS CODE is
evolving toward a better support of things like nvidia's Cuda support for
calculations or rendering.

First off for CPU we are considering the latest i7 on the z170 or X99 chipsets.
(We are not looking at zeon's for now. These are desktop and not workstations.)
I know the differences between both chipsets so no comments are needed here.

Any reason we should go with AMD (apart from the fact that they have more core
(currently slower) which could help in muti-threaded  rendering).  Is there an
advantage, code wise, to using amd64 cpu's?

Video cards: any nvidia Cuda support in the planning?  Has anything been
optimized for AMD/ATI or NDVIA?  Should I be looking for a particular version
of OpenGL or DirectX? (I guess QGIS uses OpenGL???) How about when we use GLobe
or Qgis2threejs?  Any future consideration needed?

Memory wise, we will get as much as the budget allows...

Thanks for any comments.  Again, I am looking for comments more from a QGIS
CODE perspective and future orientations, not a gamer hardware perspective.

Cheers!

Nicolas
