Re: [Qgis-user] failed to add WMS layer

2019-08-01 Thread Andrea Peri
Have you the cache to zero size?
I discovered this kind of strangenissue some weeks ago

If the qgis cache size is turn to zero the capabilities fail when go to add
the map to the Canvas.
This issue is on only with some wms (mapserver, geoserver) do not with
qgisserver.

I dont know with arcgis rest services.

Re: [Qgis-user] failed to add WMS layer

2019-08-01 Thread Stewart Holt
I use USGS WMS and WMTS layers. At some point in the recent past the WMS
layers stopped working. I am almost sure they have worked in QGIS V3. I
usually use WMTS because of the speed, but for final publishing, I have
seen some cases where a corresponding WMS layer is higher definition, so I
would like to be able to use it. Also the long timeout while starting the
project is unfortunate and I don't want to delete the WMS layer. Here is a
WMS layer which fails:

https://basemap.nationalmap.gov/arcgis/services/USGSTopo/MapServer/WMSServer?request=GetCapabilities&service=WMS

And a corresponding WMTS layer which works:

https://basemap.nationalmap.gov/arcgis/rest/services/USGSTopo/MapServer/WMTS/1.0.0/WMTSCapabilities.xml

On the failing WMS layer, I have removed it and added it back. When I test
it I get a message saying that a get capabilities request has failed. I
hope someone who might be able to figure out what is going on can give this
URL a try.

Thanks,

Stewart

[Qgis-user] Investigation into available services

2019-08-01 Thread Richard McDonnell
Hi all,
I am unsure if this is the right space for this, but was hoping someone might
be able to help me, or point me in the correct direction. I have posted on the
European OSGeo mailing list, but have had very few hits!

I am carrying out research into Service Providers, to see what options are
available to is in order to establish a full robust Enterprise FOSS4G solution
within the Organisation.

We are currently running

· Postgresql/PostGIS

· GeoServer

· OpenLayers

· GeoDjango…etc..

With most people within the Organisation using OSGeo4w for the instillation of
QGIS Desktop Software and ancillaries.
In our current state, keeping the systems up to date and Stable is quite time
consuming, so we are hoping to free up resources by having the systems/services
installed, managed and updated on an annual basis with a Maintenance agreement
for a defined period.
What we are looking for is to have the above, plus with a few additional
services we are currently missing:

1. Instillation/Updating and Maintenance of Postgresql and PostGIS

2. Instillation/Updating and Maintenance of GeoNode/GeoNetwork for Data
Cataloguing

3. Instillation/Updating and Maintenance of Vector/Raster Tiling Service
(Caching).

4. Instillation/Updating and Maintenance of GeoServer for Web Map Services

5. Instillation/Updating and Maintenance of OpenLayers

6. Instillation/Updating and Maintenance of GeoDjango

There may be more , but the above is the core we need to operate effectively.

It is important that the provided services are Open Source and not specific to
one provider, all services should be available through OSGeo/FOSS4G and free
from Licencing costs or other restrictions of use. Initially we are not looking
for cloud services, physical infrastructure will be provided, but advice on
this may initially be required to help establish a complete solution.

Regards & Thanks in advance for your help,

Richard.

Hi Christoph,

under processing tools you will find 2 vector smooth tools, one is
native QGIS, the other comes from SAGA

Re: [Qgis-user] Raster analysis , Proximity (raster distance)

2019-08-01 Thread Richard McDonnell
Hi Dimitris,

Best tool available is GDAL. You can use this from within QGIS, by going to,
Processing Toolbox and typing in repro select Warp (reproject), select your
Input layer, set your Source CRS and then select the Target CRS.
This should be able to do what you want.
Hope it helps,

Regards,

Richard.

To answer your question, use the Georeferenced coordinates and run, the
distances will be based on the resolution of your image, so 5m resolution will
result in a proximity raster of 5m intervals.
You might want to set the Maximum distance, as this will help to minimise
processing and Image size.

Does any of you know any workaround for this?

I am using QGiS 3.8.1 with GRASS 7.6.1

Kind regards
Dimitris

[Qgis-user] Raster analysis , Proximity (raster distance)

2019-08-01 Thread Dimitris sal
Hello to all ,

This is my first message here. I am trying to create a proximity map with
the Raster analysis tool. My problem is that I only get two options for
distance units , pixels coordinates and georeferenced coordinates while I
want to get them in meters.

I also used the grass tool , r.grow.distance that provides in advanced
parameters the option "Output distances in meters instead of map units" If
i check this option i get the following error ERROR: Raster map or group
not found.

Does any of you know any workaround for this?

I am using QGiS 3.8.1 with GRASS 7.6.1

Kind regards
Dimitris
