Re: [Qgis-user] Problems with development version

2019-10-18 Thread Mike Flannigan

I abandoned Ubuntu and went with Mint.
It installed immediately with just
sudo apt-get update
and
sudo apt-get install qgis python-qgis qgis-plugin-grass

So kudos to the 64 bit Tina Cinnamon Mint crew.
A little dingy to the Ubunto crew.

I am new to Linux.  FileZilla installed without

Release for Ubuntu
Release with ubuntugis-unstable dependencies
LTR

All had problems with dependencies.

I guess this will contribute to keeping me on

I noticed the install website:

the changes did not make it work.  I will keep

Re: [Qgis-user] Nearest point on line

2019-10-18 Thread Andrew McAninch
You can do this in the field calculator with the refFunctions plugin. It
gives you a function, geomnearest(), which will return the WKT geometry of the
nearest line(or geomdistance() if you want to limit your search radius). Then
use the closest_point() function to find the nearest point on that line.
something like:

closest_point(geom_from_wkt(geomdistance('lines','$geometry',10)) , $geometry)

[Qgis-user] Can anybody make v.net.centrality run in Processing?

2019-10-18 Thread magerlin
Trying to run v.net.centrality with as many default settings as possible but
it breaks down with:

ERROR: v.net.centrality: Sorry, is not a valid parameter

In other runs I do not get the above error but messages like "WARNING:
Unable to create table "

With small test-data I sometimes get output even with the warnings - If
these result are trustable I do not know.

Running on my full shape file QGIS just hangs: (Not Responding)
Whether QGIS is dead or something is going on I do not know - I will
probably take hours to do the calculation...

Re: [Qgis-user] Python Plugin creation

2019-10-18 Thread Raymond Nijssen

Hi Dinesh,

Not sure if I'm understanding your question exactly, but it sounds like
you are connecting a signal to a slot multiple times.

So make sure you disconnect it on closing the plugin or panel or
whatever. And reconnect it on opening again. Or make sure you connect it
only once, on loading the plugin.

Good luck,

Raymond

I am getting the same error. I have the following environment:

Centos 7.7
Qt5 5.13.0
cmake 3.15.14
qgis 3.8.3

Did you make any progress with this issue? Is there anyone that might be
able to assist? The next thing I am going to try is an older GCC version (I
am using GCC 8.30). I read in one group that the person got these errors
with the stock compiler but when they installed GCC 7.2 it compiled
successfully. I will update with any progress (or lack thereof).

Hi,

It's a known issue, the root cause is that the relations/joins are stored by
QGIS using the layer ID (which is unique) so the relations are lost in case of
layer copy or save/load from a style file, the good new is that I've got a
customer that has committed some budget to fix this problem and I'll start to
work on that soon.

The solution would imply storing some more information about the layers that
compose a relation so that we can at try to reconstruct the relation by
searching for "similar" layers in the existing project before giving up with a
broken relation/join.

The same issue applies to the value-relation widget.

Hi,

It's a known issue, the root cause is that the relations/joins are stored
by QGIS using the layer ID (which is unique) so the relations are lost in

[Qgis-user] QGIS 3 - Joins

2019-10-18 Thread Burghardt.Scholle
Dear list,

I have a postgres layer that is connected to other postgres lookup tables via
joins. QGIS does not take these joins into account when copying a layer (to
another project) or when creating style or layer files. This is really annoying
if you have to rebuild the joins by hand over and over again. Am I doing
something wrong? In the dialog window "Edit Vector Join" I see no further ways.
I only activated the option "Cache join layer in virtual memory".

Any hint is appreciated, thanks.
I'm using QGIS LTR 3.4.12

Regards
Burghardt

Ho caricato solo il vettoriale e funziona...può essere la basemap il

[Qgis-user] Nearest point on line

2019-10-18 Thread Christoph Jung
Hello list,

Does QGIS has a function to calculate the nearest point on a line layer by a
given point layer? In PostGIS i could query it with min(st_distance(...)) or
st_closestpoint(...). But I miss such a function directly in QGIS (I just
found the plugin Cloest Point, but it has some issues...).

Sincerely,
Christoph

Confermo, deve essere un problema locale. Qfield è usato in migliaia di
installazioni professionali, in produzione.

Re: [Qgis-user] GeoPackage deadlocks

2019-10-18 Thread Chavoux Luyt
Hi,

Just my two cents... this is IMHO exactly where postGIS will shine. Using
PostgreSQL as backend will avoid any of these issues (i.e. prevent data
corruption). For my personal projects I have never bothered with it, so I
cannot say how easy it is to set up, but once it is up and running
PostgreSQL is one of the most reliable database servers out there.

Cheers,
Chavoux
