Hi Raymond,

Wouldn't the identify tool with auto open form with only the class field
widget available do that? Also, select tool with multi edit form to
classify several buildings in one go would save lots of clicks.

Hi Alex,

Thanks, that is pretty close to what I'm looking for! I didn't manage to
only show the widget for the field I want to edit though, so I'm seeing
the entire form. I tried to find it in the Form and Fields properties
and I tried to use hidden fields.

I have a layer with 17,000 buildings, all need to be set to 1 of 5
values. I'm thinking about making a (quick and dirty) plugin that:

- On clicking the building shows a popup menu with the 5 choices
- Clicking the choice would update the value and change the color
(redraw)

Every click less really counts here. I already set up a form widget but
also having the location of the menu near the building polygon is way
more efficient. (I mean, no need to cross the screen with your mouse

Thanks!

2020-05-28 Thread Raymond Nijssen

Ah, I found it! (With a little help from Richard..)

There is a widget type "Hidden" that prevents showing up on the form.

Still, if anyone knows of a way that also not needs to close the form
with an OK, could save me 17k extra mouse clicks. Using actions maybe?

Thanks,
Raymond

Hi, I would try to add a python behavior to the form that will trigger the
OK button just for you when you change the value of your edit widget. I
think this works.

Yup, hidden widget was what I was thinking.

A custom python form can probably provide what you want. I think you will
be able to listen to that specific field widget and close the form when it
changes

Sounds like a blogpost with a nice explanation, that is a problem I also
have sometimes (though not with 17K).
Once you solved it it would be nice to have a manual howto get there.

Hi Roberto,

You can do this with QGIS Reports and "Static Layout Sections".
Reports are covered by the documentation:

Hi,

I see many people have responded exactly to your question so I have a question
for you. I am playing the devil’s advocate. What are your classification? Can
any of this be classified any other way than manually? You could save time if
you could preclassify building and only check the results manually? Can size,
shape, or colour help? Can you use another data base like a city map or sensor
data help? Can you use satellite images to do some preclassification? Have
you thought of using AI with aerial photography?

If not, can you build a tool that will permit you to select multiple buildings
at a time and only enter the information once?

Yes we have been thinking of automating this, but we don't think it is
possible. We are interested in the roof construction material and in
case of certain material, if the roof is damaged or not.

As we are not interested in overall statistics but in the actual roof
state of houses (cause those people might get money to fix their roofs)
we will need to manually check them all.

Satellite imagery was not detailed enough, so a (slow) drone will be
used for mapping the area in high resolution. This will take days or
even weeks. In my experience the colours and quality differs per flight
(due to the weather and sun angle) making AI learning very hard.

Luckily we have many hands around and can split the task! My job is to
make this as easy as possible, in QGIS

If not, can you build a tool that will permit you to select multiple buildings
at a time and only enter the information once?

Yes, that was the 2nd step. It could also be some kind of tool that
works like a highlighter. Just pick the "red" one from a list and start
clicking all the damaged buildings. That would even mean only 1 click
per building.

Or, more generic, an edit tool where you can choose the field and the
value to set, and start clicking. I think I'm developing a new plugin
idea here!!

Re: [Qgis-user] manual classification tool?

2020-05-28 Thread chris hermansen
All,

Assuming the buildings are polygons, what about having five point layers,
one for each class? Select a point layer, open it for editing, add points
within building polygons of that point class. When done save and close the
point layer and move on to the next. Then use the point within polygon
overlap to set the polygon values.

No need to set any attributes.

Each classifier could have their own set of five point layers to use in
their own sector.

[Qgis-user] query of a layer from another layer in select by expression

2020-05-28 Thread Patrick St-Hilaire
Hi !

Could someone tell me how to query a layer from fields of another layer
using select by expression? I have already created a relationship between
my two layers in projects.

Thank you

[Qgis-user] Unable to save project to PostgreSQL

2020-05-28 Thread Cliff Patterson
Hi QGISers!

I am unable to save a project to PostgreSQL in QGIS version 3.10.4-A
Coruña. "Allow saving/loading projects..." is enabled for this DB. The user
is the db owner and I can insert into the table using PGAdmin with the same
creds. However, when I try to save a project to the DB in QGIS, I get the
following error:

"Unable to save project to storage [db info removed]

Unable to insert or update project (project=test) in the destination table
on the database. Maybe this is due to table permissions (user=mapleton).
Please contact your database admin."

Note that the qgis_projects table is created successfully in the DB before
error. Also note that other tables in the DB are editable in QGIS without
error.

Error Message in QGIS for PostGIS:

Re: [Qgis-user] query of a layer from another layer in select by expression

2020-05-28 Thread Yann Voté

Hi,

You can try the direct but implicit represent_value() function, if the
filtering is by the referenced column, like this:

represent_value("referencing_field") = 'filter_value_on_referenced_layer'

Or you can try the more verbose and more explicit
attribute()/get_feature() functions, if you want to filter by another
column:

attribute(get_feature('referenced_layer_name', 'referenced_field',
"referencing_field"), 'filter_field') = 'filter_value'

And be careful about quotes: 'foo' (single quotes) is a string (but may
designates a field in other layer in some functiones), while "foo"
(double quotes) designates a field in the active layer.

Hope this helps!

Yann

Re: [Qgis-user] Unable to save project to PostgreSQL

2020-05-28 Thread Jorge Gustavo Rocha
Hi Cliff,

Thank you for including the failing database insert/update. I think you
found a bug.

When QGIS writes the project to the provider, it encodes the project as
a huge hexadecimal string. But your project's hex string is not valid. I
don't know why, but it should not be invalid.

Please create a new bug report [1]. Include this insert statement (with
the invalid hexadecimal encoding) and the qgs project saved in the file
system (if the project does not contain private information).

Matthias Kuhn improved this encoding eighth mouths ago, but you might
have some "strange" characters in the project that might not be suitable
to convert with QString::fromLatin1. That's why it is important (if
possible), that you also include the original project.

This is just a guess from the insert statement (I've tried to run it),
so I added Matthias in CC, so he can correct me, if I'm wrong.

Best regards,

Jorge Gustavo

2020-05-28 Thread Priv.-Doz. Dr. Maria Shinoto
Hi Jochen,

these are really helpful advices, thank you. I will definitely try the cheapest
check with the aluminium foil as soon as I can go to the area ;-), but the base
station - rover or separate antenna solution seems to become a solution that
needs a bit of testing, will have to apply for the money first.

As for the total station, yes, we are starting from a ground point and create
low level ground points walking up the valleys at the moment; but we have to
consider measurement errors increasing.

Thanks again, I think I got a lot of really useful input,
Maria

[Qgis-user] Connecting to WMS does not work

2020-05-28 Thread Christoph Jung
Hello everyone,

I have a very strange problem with QGIS. Only one user in my company is not
able to connect a external WMS. If we try to connect via the data source
manager, a dialog appears with the information, that the host cannot be found.
The url of the service is not the problem because it is inserted via a plugin,
i.e. all users using the same url. And for all other users it works perfectly.
We copied the url from QGIS into the browser and we can get the capabilities.
The same url works without problems in other software (Smallworld, GSA,
WindPro). The proxy in QGIS is correct. If I remove the proxy settings we get
another error message according to the proxy. The parameters for the proxy are
the same for all users and also inserted via a plugin to avoid typing errors or
something. It is not a problem of a different IP segment or something because
only QGIS has this problem and we are not able to reproduce it with other
users.

Now the (for me very important ^^) question: does anybody had such a problem in
the past or could imagine other possibilities of problems?

Sincerely,
Christoph

It's unlikely, but there is only one thing I can think of: if the
user's QGIS uses a different QT version then his colleagues he might
be hitting this bug: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-76821
