Re: [Qgis-user] colorramp starting from white

2020-06-18 Thread Thayer Young
 Hi Raymond,
I agree with you that the color ramps should be easier to distinguish from the
default background color. The workaround that I have been using recently is to
set the background color to something else besides white. You can do this from:
QGIS | Preferences | Canvas & Legend It is not very satisfying though, and does
not solve the problem of what if you have more than one ramp on different
layers on the same map canvas? I have actually been calculating ramps outside
of QGIS and saving them as SLD files then load that style into QGIS.

Am I the only one who would like the color ramps in QGIS to NOT start
from (super nearly) white, but from a light version of the color?

For example, "Reds" should go from (light) pink to red.

Currently, the first class in my legend always looks white, as many
other parts of my map often do. Therefore it is hard to see where my
data is and where not.

Another thing, changing it manually is hard because of the 7 stops in
the ramps.

I'm happy to figure this out and make a PR, but would like to know
other's opinions first.

Regards,
Raymond

Re: [Qgis-user] [Qgis-community-team] Fwd: documentation v 3.10 - PDF ?

2020-06-18 Thread Alexandre Neto
Hi again,

Travis is returning an error because I have added pdflatex to the
requirements. I think the problem is that we are still using a 16.04
machine, with python 3.5 in Travis and PDFLAtex is only available on pip in
python >= 3.6

Is there a reason to keep this old setup for travis, would it make sense to
upgrade? at least for 18.04 now that 20.04 already available. Otherwise, I
can simply remove the requirement

Thanks,

Hi,

Based on some work done by Richard and Håvard, I have tried to revive the
ability to create PDFs for the main documents.

https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-Documentation/pull/5729

I only tested with English outputs, but I hope it works with most languages
too.

Thanks!

I have a virtual instance of Ubuntu 20.04 installed on my home computer and
have successfully installed 3.10.4 from the standard Ubuntu 20.04 repositories.
I suspect that you have different libraries and versions of QGIS left over
from your 18.04 installation and it may be complicated by the possibility that
you may have used the UBUNTU GIS PPA to install your previous version.Hard
for me to tell without more detail.

I would suggest that you use aptitude search to find all instances of gdal,
grass, proj, and qgis that you may find and remove them with apt. Then start
with a simple qgis installation using apt.

You can also make a virtual instance of 20.04 ( using KVM) and install qgis
there. I nfs mapped my base systems drives to the virtual instance to access
my data on the base system.

Re: [Qgis-user] How to determine the inner surface on a sphere or ellipsoid

2020-06-18 Thread Tudorache, Marian
I think I found a solution for this problem.
Instead of do the analysis over the entire polygon on the surface, I will do it
over the three consecutive points from polygon vertices not colinear and the
middle point is either most East, South, West or North.
detO = (bPoint.x() - aPoint.x()) * (cPoint.y() - aPoint.y()) - (cPoint.x() -
aPoint.x()) * (bPoint.y() - aPoint.y())
The sign of the determinant will tell me the direction of the three points
which coincides with the direction of the polygon.
In this way I can force the orientation of the polygon to match the one
required by Intermaphics.

Thanks,
marian

That's just a convention -- it doesn't change what the boundary actually
represents.

If you want to do analysis based on points which fall outside a digitized
polygon, you should use a "disjoint" relationship. The alternative is to do
what Nicolas suggested and make a polygon which covers the globe minus a small
hole, but you'll get terrible performance with any analysis using that
approach...!

Hi! Thanks for incluiding me.

I changed from Ubuntu 18.04 to Ubuntu 20.04, so I automaticly lost the qgis

"qgis needs 'this' or 'this' but its not going to be install" or 'its going

also "you have broken packages". I tryed to erase old packages, tryed to
clean caché, tryed commands like "autoremove", "autoclean", "sudo apt-get
-f install' and i followed all the suggested steps from the qgis original
tutorial but nothing worked!

Its there any other suggestions about how to install qgis? this vertion is
actually working? I even tryed to install qgis copying from the terminal
to the repository both latest versions (https//:qgis.org/ubuntu and https//:
qgis.org/ubuntu-ltr)

Please, anything will help, i'm in the middle of my final work to get a
master degree and i already lost 2 days trying to fix this. My plan B is
just, get back to Ubuntu 18, but its possible that that doesnt work easily
anyway.

Thanks for your atention!

To share the complete project with all layers and styles its best to ‘package’
