[Qgis-user] OpenID autherntication in QGIS

2024-06-20 Thread Newcomb, Doug via QGIS-User
Trying to connect to ArcGIS Portal behind an OpenID frontend . Suggestions
anyone? I have read through the detailed directions at
https://north-road.com/2022/09/16/securely-accessing-arcgis-online-agol-and-enterprise-arcgis-portal-sites-through-qgis-2022-update/
, but that does not quite seem to fit this situation.

since several weeks I can´t open existing .qgz files from inside an open QGIS instance
when they are located on a network drive. The error message that appears is "Unable
to unzip file: ..."

Hi Simon,
you wrote that the issue occurs "since several weeks": did you use the
very same QGIS 3.34.7 version even before several weeks ago when the
issue didn't occur?

Have the Operative System been updated?

Which installer did you use to install QGIS, the OSGeo4W network
installer osgeo4w-setup.exe or the OSGeo4W stand-alone all-in-one
installer QGIS-OSGeo4W-3.34.7-2.msi or another one?

Have you tried if the issue occurs also using a new QGIS user profile?

Please read the previous thread in this mailing list about a similar
issue

the previous issue report about a similar issue on GitHub

Re: [Qgis-user] problem when opening projects in open, instance

2024-06-20 Thread Garth Fletcher via QGIS-User

To further clarify:
I transferred both .qgz files from a USB disk to the user's Documents
directory.

One opened, the other gav the "Unable to unzip file..." error.
So not a network or shared volume issue.

I did not know enough about Windows to try unzipping the .qgz file :-(

Back on the Mac system, both .gqz files on the USB disk opened normally.

So, it seems to me that the possibilities are:
 1) copying error in transferring from USB disk to User's home volume -
unlikely

 2) .ZIP format issue between Mac OSX and Windows

I'll report further after I can test .qgs format on the Windows system.

2024-06-20 Thread Simon Dietmann via QGIS-User
Hi Richard,

tanks for your advice.

it´s possible to open the same .qgz normally when it is copied to local drive,
and its also no problem to open the .qgz (renamed to .zip) ON the network drive
and to open the .qgs inside.

I´m sure that this is not an issue about synchronous writing access, because it
happens very often with projects that are only used by me.

Seems to be a little mysterious ...

Simon

I think it is important to know if it is an issue with the actual file (maybe
corrupt etc, or maybe locked or so), or the combi of the file + on a network
drive.

If you copy that same qgz file to your local disk, is QGIS then able to open it
normally?
(if so: then it is network and possibly QGIS related)

Can you try 'unzip/unpack' the file with another 'unzip' program, when it is ON
the network drive?
(if so it is QGIS/network related)

Note that a qgz file is a 'normal' zip. Just rename it to .zip to look into it.
You will find the old .qgs file. Which actually is an xml file which you can
see in an editor.

One of the issues with 'network drives' could be that several people on the
same time are writing to it? Not sure if it can get corrupt in this way
that is why I propose to look into it, IF you can open it as a zip.

1) Use 'zip -t' on the mac and again (however you spell that) on windows.

2) use some sort of cryptographic checksum (sha1, or md5 is good enough)
on the file on both systems. It is possible that the file is getting
munged in transfer, especially if a windows system or SMB is involved ;-)

My guess is some incompatibility in ZIP handling...

Re: [Qgis-user] Raster Tools

Hello Michael,

I think the problem here are the 2 map units per pixel, because in your CRS
this means 2 degrees, so one pixel is about 200 km wide. You can try 0,001 for
about 1 m.

Hope that helps, cheers

Re: [Qgis-user] Rendering shared exterior boundaries of adjacent polygon features

2024-06-20 Thread Simon Dietmann via QGIS-User
Hi Tim,

If I understood correctly what you want to do, I would suggest the following:

  1. duplicate the layer
  2. in the underlying layer, define rendering for area and the interior
borders.
  3. in the layer above, choose “merged features” and define the outer border
lines as e.g. “Outline: Simple line”

Is that what you intended to achieve?

Cheers,

Simon

Hi Tim,

Are you looking for the "Draw line only inside polygon" feature described at
http://nyalldawson.net/2014/01/qgis-two-neat-features-in-2-2/
 ?

In that case you would probably have two symbol levels:

- one for the line pattern fill (cross-hatched)

- a second one on top of the other one drawing an "Outline:simple line" on top
of it using the "Draw line only inside polygon" checkbox.

This is only briefly described at
https://docs.qgis.org/3.34/en/docs/user_manual/style_library/symbol_selector.html

Quote:

Outline: simple line: uses a simple line symbol layer to represent the polygon
boundary (Rings) which can be the interior rings only, the exterior ring only
or all the rings). The Draw line only inside polygon option displays the
polygon borders inside the polygon and can be useful to clearly represent
adjacent polygon boundaries. The other settings for the outline simple line are
the same as for simple line symbols.

But perhaps I am totally misunderstanding your request ...

Greetings,

Andreas

Fellow QGIS Users –

I’m trying to determine if its possible to have QGIS render the exterior
boundary of polygon features only once when that boundary is shared with an
adjacent feature (don’t render overlapping exterior boundaries for both polygon
features). The data I’m working with is a county parcels layer and the
symbology I’m using for this layer is a cross hatched line fill with a separate
component for the outline of the polygons. I’ve tried a couple of expressions
(examples below) including one geometry generator and one data defined override
for the stroke width of the boundary line but none of them achieves my
objective. I’m using QGIS 3.34.7 and my coding skills are limited. I feel
like I’ve seen this issue covered somewhere but have been unable to find a
solution after extensive online exploration.

Method #1: “boundary( difference( $geometry, aggregate( 'union', 'intersects',
$geometry, other_layer := @layer)))” This expression was used on the outline
component of the symbology described above.

Method #2: “CASE WHEN intersects( $geometry, geom_to_wkt( boundary( $geometry
))) THEN 0 ELSE 1 END” Here I switched to using an expression on the stroke
width of a simple fill, but I got an error message saying “Cannot convert to
geometry”.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Tim
