[Qgis-user] Atlas wont export a table when there are too few records
Hi, I have a composer and I use the atlas functionality to create PDFs. I have point features, and these are contained within different zones. I use atlas to create a map of each zone. The layout is 2 pages, the first page is the map, the 2nd page is a table, made up of 5 frames so I have space for around 250 features in the table. The table displays correctly when I preview the composers in QGIS, but when I try to export to PDF, it refuses to export some of the pages with the tables on (about 5 out of 20 zones). It seems like the pages it wont export are where there is under a certain number of points within the atlas feature. I can get around this if I make the frames smaller in height, but then I cant get all the features in the table for some of my zones. Is anyone else getting this problem? I cant share my actual data, and I dont have time at the moment to see if this happens with other random data. I can try to recreate next week, but just wondered if anyone else is struggling with this problem too. Re: [Qgis-user] SVG Fill
That would be great if you could release it if you manage to work something out. It must be a lot easier to get the point styles sorted as SVG files or just a QGIS styles. I may try and create the point symbol ones in QGIS anyway without using the SVGs for them. However, having now played around with some generously supplied symbols, I'm not convinced QGIS could symbolise them neatly anyway without tweaking the SVG itself (i.e. there's no way to specify distance between symbols for instance). I'm going to see if I can come up with something anyway and release it back to the community to augment Lutra's releases (I'm using different columns). The OS are nice enough to provide a single SVG file (here: https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/xml/resource/OSMasterMapStyles.svg) with most/all of their symbology in. My question is simple: How do I use these symbols in QGIS? I've found SVG fill, which is the one I'm trying to use (i.e., with nonconiferousTreesAndConiferousTreesPattern) and while it does allow me to specify the SVG file, that seems to be all I can do. QGIS seems to assume that the entire contents of the file should be used for styling, while the file has multiple stylings in. I'm guessing mutliple geometries in a single file is valid SVG (it passes the WGC validator), so is this something QGIS can handle, or will I need to source split files? When I try to change the text of the label using: item.setText(Hello World) The label changes on the composer but the text in the Item Properties panel for the label doesn't, it stays as what it was originally. If I call item.displayText() before and after I change the label text this returns the correct information. How do I get the text to change in the Item Properties panel? Using qgis 1.8. You can still do that by selecting singleband gray, and choose the default contrast enhancement in the options. This just turns the raster into 1 gray colour: 127, 127, 127 can you share a bit sample of your raster? Technically I don’t think I supposed to share the data as it is Ordnance Survey data. [Qgis-user] Raster Layers obscuring other layers using master
Hi all, Is anyone else getting strange behaviour with Raster Layers? I have had a few instances this morning where raster layers added to a project do not show vector data or other raster data above them. However the labels from the vector layers are drawing above the raster layer. In my current project, the vrt I have added of tifs is working fine, but the tif file I have added does not. RE: [Qgis-user] PostGIS query running in 1.7.4 but not 1.9
Hi Salvatore, I think that has just appeared from my editing the table names for including the query in this email. DB manager will execute the query and give me the results in the Result section, it just won't add it to the map in 1.9. It will add it to the map in 1.7.4. If I save the project in 1.7.4 with the query in it, it will not open in 1.9. I think I have worked it out. The query returns the same polygon multiple times, and as such the gid column isn’t unique for each record. I guess I just need to only return each polygon once for QGIS to be able to use the query layer. [Qgis-user] Saved styles and legends
Hi all, I have a categorised and a rule based style set up for a dataset. I would like to apply these to another dataset but my 2nd dataset does not contain all of the things that are in the first dataset. Is it possible to only show the items that appear in a dataset in the legend on a composer when you have applied saved style to the dataset? Or do I have to go through and manually delete them all (I can select show feature count on the layer so I know which items I do not need). I would like to keep the other styles applied to the layer just in case some of the other types are added to the map, just not to show them on the legend on the composer. [Qgis-user] Plugin to add a layer for each unique value in a column
I would like to add a layer for each unique value of a text column in a table. For example, if I have a column called type, and the values in it were tree, stone and plant I would like to add a layer for each type. So in this example I would have 3 layers. I know there is a plugin called Shapefile Splitter that splits out to a shapefile for each unique value, but I just want it to split to layers in QGIS. Thanks for the reply. This is the approach I am using at the moment. I was hoping to find a tool that did it in a more automated fashion, as my data would require me to add the layer 20 times, and query each of these 20 layers. RE: [Qgis-user] Plugin to add a layer for each unique value in acolumn
Hi Nathan/Andreas, I would happily use another method to deal with this but I haven’t managed to come up with one. My layer has site boundaries (20 of them) on it. I also have a layer with buffers for my sites in it. I have a buffer per site (20 sites) and these are from a PostGIS view as these alter whenever I change the site boundary. I would like to then add each site boundary and each buffer onto a map as a separate layer because: 1) I add the site boundary and the buffer to a group, then the users can then turn each one on and off as needed when looking at the project file in QGIS. 2) For map production (using composers) I have a composer per site. I lock the layers in the composer map item and then jpg all my maps at the end. To do this I need to have each buffer on a separate layer as otherwise it would show the other sites as they are quite close together. The only way I can think to do this at the moment is to add each layer 20 times, and then query it by each individual site. RE: [Qgis-user] Plugin to add a layer for each unique value in acolumn
I may have a look at seeing if I can use the shapefile splitter plugin and change it so it adds the layers as queries to the QGIS map canvas rather than saving out shapefiles. How would you add a selection of an existing layer as a new layer to the map using python(without saving the selection to a file and then adding that files to the map)? The spatial query plugin seems to do this but I cannot find the code to see how it does it. I am not sure if the EasyPrint or Atlas Plugin can help. EasyPrint allows to print each feature on a separate map. But it sounds like for your problem easy print would have to be extended to allow for maps per filter or using a group attribute. I am not sure if there is an out of the box solution for your problem with QGIS. For my own similar projects I set up a printing process using Apache FOP with XSL-FO and then use QGIS-server to print the map extents. I understand that this would be overkill/too much work to setup for you. [Qgis-user] Custom Projection for EPSG 27700 when opening shp and TAB files from other software
I just wanted to check that this was working ok (using QGIS 1.9 Master). I am a little confused by the different results I get from different data. The definition of a layer in QGIS using OSGB 1936 / British National Grid (27700) is: +proj=tmerc +lat_0=49 +lon_0=-2 +k=0.9996012717 +x_0=40 +y_0=-10 +ellps=airy +towgs84=446.448,-125.157,542.06,0.15,0.247,0.842,-20.489 +units=m +no_defs I have data in MapInfo TAB files that are created in software other than QGIS. When I open these they come in with the following custom projection defined which is different from EPSG 27700 and as such not recognised as it: +proj=tmerc +lat_0=49 +lon_0=-2 +k=0.9996012717 +x_0=40 +y_0=-10 +ellps=airy +towgs84=375,-111,431,-0,-0,-0,0 +units=m +no_defs I have data in a shapefile format not created by QGIS. When loaded into QGIS these have the projection defined as a custom projection as shown below which seems to match the EPSG 27700 definition but does not get recognised as 27700: +proj=tmerc +lat_0=49 +lon_0=-2 +k=0.9996012716 +x_0=40 +y_0=-10 +ellps=airy +towgs84=446.448,-125.157,542.06,0.1502,0.247,0.8421,-20.4894 +units=m +no_defs Is this the correct behaviour and are all the custom projections giving me the correct results? It never used to set the units to degrees – it should be metres. I think that QGIS is getting the default units wrong for 27700. The coordinate system definition states that the units should be m. Thanks to the hard work of Giuseppe Sucameli, the supervision of Martin Dobias, and the support of Google for its Summer of Code initiative, DB Manager is now available. DBManager's aim is to merge together some QGis DB plugins, e.g. PGManager, SLManager, RT_Sql_Layer. In this moment it works with both PostgreSQL and SQLite databases and it displays the list of tables, info about the selected table, table data and preview, but also allows to rename/delete tables through its GUI and run query on the selected database, so at this stage it replaces at all SLManager. Thanks to Mauricio De Paulo (mauriciodev), now DB Manager also supports PostGIS Rasters! The last DB Manager version has support to Import Vector Layer feature by drag'n'drop a layer from the QGis browser (or even DB Manager) to a database in the DBManager GUI. The Import Vector Layer feature allows to import/copy any vector layer QGis can load between different datasources, i.e. PostGIS/SpatiaLite databases and OGR files. It's available through the QgsVectorLayerImport class and it has just been merged in master branch. See [1] for an example of use. Faunalia is committed to support the development of this tool, and other DB plugin developers are welcome to join and merge their work, it this makes sense, to reduce confusion for users. Enjoy. [Qgis-user] RE: [Qgis-developer] DB Manager release
I cannot recreate the error now as the plugin manager is only finding version 0.1.0 of the plugin.
