[Qgis-user] Problems with the tool: join by attributes

2019-09-17 Thread Jennifer Schubert
Hi,
I want to spatially join points with individual values to a polygon grid.
The resulting shapefile should have a column where the values oft the points
are summed up - according to the grid cell they are found in.
This simple operation works fine in QGIS 2.18 where you can click "sum" as the
method of statistics.
However, the newer versions of QGIS don't have the possibility to indicate the
method of statistics or I cannot find them, so I cannot get the task done with
it.
Does anybody now how to perform this tool successfully in QGIS 3.8.2?

Thanks in advance

[Qgis-user] Problems with the tool intersect

2019-09-12 Thread Jennifer Schubert
Hello Gis-user:
I have two shapefiles, one is a grid made from polylines, the other consists of
polylines. I want to cut the polylines of the second shapefile with the grid
via the tool intersect. (I did it successfully before). Unfortunately, the
resulting layer is empty.
I checked that the two shapefiles really overlap, that they have the same
coordinate system. This doesn't seem to be the problem.
What other reason could there be? Strangely, the intersect works fine in SAGA
Gis. I need to do it in QGis, though, because SAGA Gis doesn't give me the FID
column of the split polylines which I need for field statistics.

Thanks in advance.
