[Qgis-user] map projection in Myanmar

2013-01-28 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Good Day QGIS Users,

Would like to ask what map projection is suitable for Myanmar? Is it okay
to use UTM coordinate system or can you recommend other coordinate system?
Thank you.

[Qgis-user] Projection

2013-02-07 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Good Day QGIS Users!

I am working on a GIS project where my area of interest (drainage basin and
river network) cover two UTM Zones. In this case, I cannot use UTM to
compute for area and distance, and to perform other analysis in which
spatial data needs to be projected. What projection can I use? Is Equal
Area Cylindrical NSIDC EASE - Grid Global (EPSG: 3410) okay to use if
working on a very large spatial dataset? Is this widely used by GIS users?
Thank you.

[Qgis-user] TauDEM

2013-03-14 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Dear QGIS Users,

Can I ask somebody to share me notes on how to install TauDEM in QGIS. My
TauDEM seems to be not working correctly. This is how I install TauDEM.

1. I go to fetch phyton plugin in and install Sextante.
2. I install TauDEM 5.0.6 Command Line Executables for 64 bit Windows
PC for
ArcGIs 10.
3. I install MPICH2
4. I configure TauDEM under sextante and specify MPICH2/OpenMPI bin
directory (path is C:\Program Files\MPICH2\bin) and TauDEM command line
tools folder (path is C:\Program Files(x86)\TauDEM\TauDEM5Exe)

I tried running taudem but it is not running correctly, it says *Could not
load model watersheds. model ALGORITHM:saga:catchmentarea(parallel)*
*
*
Does anyone has successfully run TauDEM in QGIS? can you share your
installation notes.

I am using Windows 7 prof - 64 bit.

Thanks.

[Qgis-user] plugin for processing multiple raster files

2013-05-01 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi *QGIS users*,

I am working with daily rainfall raster dataset of one decade acquired from
*TRMM*. We will use this as criteria for our suitability analysis of a
farming system. I want to derive the following:

1. Mean daily rainfall *(*output is 365 raster files (representing *day
1-day 365*) with each raster file contain the *mean daily rainfall* derived
from one decade of daily rainfall data for a specific day*)*; and
 2. After computing the mean daily rainfall for one decade, I want to
compute the rainfall sum with the interval of 10 days (per dekad).

is there a plugin in QGIS that I can use that will automate this process. I
know this is possible using a script, but I do not have a background yet in
scripting. Right now I am still reading Phyton programming. Also I think it
is possible to do this in R, but right now I am still learning R.

Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you very much.

[Qgis-user] Customized projection

2013-07-10 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Dear QGIS Community,

Good Day!

I am currently working with a project that covers the whole country. My
problem is if I want to compute for perimeter, area, and when using terrain
analysis modules, the spatial datasets should be projected. But the country
covers two UTM zones and I want to use a much broader scale projection. I
want to use the Equal Area Cylindrical > *NSIDC EASE-Grid Global
Projection*but I want to set the central meridian to be in the middle
of my country of
interest. In this case, I can minimize the distortions in my country of
interest, right? I do not know what parameter should I change to do it.
Below is the code for the abovementioned projection.

+proj=cea +lon_0=0 +lat_ts=30 +x_0=0 +y_0=0 +a=6371228 +b=6371228 +units=m
+no_defs

Thanks in advance.

[Qgis-user] QGIS and QT Designer

2013-07-18 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Dear QGIS Users,

I am exploring the synergy of QGIS and QT on a tablet for field work and
field validation activities. I learn this functionality from Nathan
Woodrow. As I understand, I need QGIS-dev and QT-dev packages to facilitate
the integration of QT forms in QGIS. This require the use of OSGeo4W
installer to install the packages, hence this makes Windows-based tablets
appropriate to use.

Right now, the only way to use the QT designer in QGIS is to have a vector
point layer in which the fields are linked to the widgets in the QT form.
In this case, for QT form to work (*pop-up in the map*) a user should
digitize a point in the map canvass. Is there a way to use the GPS
location/coordinates (*like mark waypoint in GPS*) instead of digitizing my
points? For instance, I can use the current GPS location instead of
manually digitizing my points. Or it can be the other way around, where I
have an existing point layer and when you select on a specific point
feature in the map canvass the QT forms will pop-up and populate or update
the attribute information of that point. Does this makes sense?

By the way (if it is okay), can anybody recommend a good windows-based
tablet (that can support QGIS and QT, longer battery life, and with minimal
glare when used outdoors)?

Thank you.

Re: [Qgis-user] Qgis-user Digest, Vol 89, Issue 84

2013-07-19 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi Andreas,

Thanks for your detailed response and suggestions. I will certainly
consider those issues that you raised and suggestions, as well as try
NextGIS. We are really moving towards paper less fieldwork, that is why we
are exploring how tablets and QGIS can be optimized for field use. I have
limited experience in using Ubuntu/Linux OS, and for now I am more
comfortable in using QGIS on a Windows platform. Hence I preferred QGIS on
a Windows tablet. I would love to try QGIS on Ubuntu so everything will be
Opensourced.

I have tried running QGIS on our android device. I installed the QGIS
nightly in Samsung Galaxy Tab. I loaded a road map and administrative
boundary map. Everything is okay when I navigate, but when I click the
*Automatically
add point *in *Tracks* and *Automatically save added feature*, then after a
short navigation then QGIS will stop and exit.

I agree to you that QGIS on a tablet should be further improved. Anyone can
just carry a tablet device instead of the usual paper, ballpen, and GPS.

My preference on using Windows tablet is because I want to use QT forms in
QGIS as a platform for conducting field surveys. Although I have not yet
actually tried it before. But according to the blog and post of Nathan,
QGIS is working well in Windows tablet.

Hi Nathan, I really want to try QMap. Any documents or related web links
that you can share to install QMap (to have the interface like the one you
posted in your email). Right now, what I have tried is to use QT forms in
QGIS on my laptop (just to explore the functionality). I assume that
installing and using QGIS and QT is the same as installing and using it in
PCs and laptops.

Thank you,

-Leo

[Qgis-user] sextante GRASS r.statistics

2013-08-11 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Dear QGIS users,

Good Day!

I want to use the *GRASS r.statistics* module in *Sextante Toolbox* to know
the *majority* of *cell values* per *administrative boundary* (Provincial
level). To determine the cell majority per boundary I want to use the
*Mode*method (
The *mode* is the value that appears most often in a set of data
(wikipedia)). Below are my parameters:

*Base raster layer: *PHL_adm_1 (this is a raster administrative boundary
with x = 0.037 and y = 0.041 resolution; Data type: GDT_Float64 - Sixty
four bit floating point)
*
*
*Cover raster layer:* PET_1 (raster Potential Evaportranspiration layer
with x = 0.25 and y = 0.25 resolution, float type; Data type: GDT_Float32 -
Thirty two bit floating point )
*
*
*Method: *mode
*
*
*Cover values extracted from the category labels of the cover map: *Yes
*
*
*GRASS region: *default [Leave blank to use min covering extent]
*
*
*GRASS region cellsize:* default (value is 0.0)
*
*
*Output raster layer:* [Save to temporary file]

*Error: *Could not load layer:
C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp\sextante\grassstatistics.tif
Check the SEXTANTE log to look for errors

I do not know what is causing the error. Basically, I need to know the
majority of PET values per Province (PHL_adm_1).

I have configured the GRASS successfully.

*GRASS Folder:* C:\OSGeo4W\apps\grass\grass-6.4.3RC4
*GRASS help folder: *C:\OSGeo4W\apps\grass\grass-6.4.3RC4\docs\html
*Msys folder:* C:\OSGeo4W\apps\msys

Thanks for any help.

[Qgis-user] Vector to Rast

2013-08-28 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Dear QGIS Community,

I tried using r.mode module of GRASS in Sextante Toolbox. It worked well
but I have to convert my vector layer to raster layer in ArcGIS to generate

always gives me a GDT_Float64 - Sixty four bit floating point raster (which
is not a valid input as a Base Layer in the r.mode module), even though the
vector field that I am using is an integer type. How can I do this properly?

[Qgis-user] Converting null(no data) to 0

2013-08-29 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Dear QGIS Community,

Good Day!

We are currently processing srtm_5 minutes resolution data for asia. We
have polygons (125 features) that covers 9 raster cells each. Our task is
to compute the average cell values using the zonal statistics plugin. In
our data we have negative values and NULL values; we managed to mask those
negative values using raster calculator -- our syntax is *srtm@1 > 0) *
srtm@1*. But we are having a problem dealing with the NULL values. We tried
the raster > conversion > translate module and set the No Data value to 0.
It did convert the No Data to 0 values as indicated in the metadata. But
when we clicked on the pixels the value is -3.40282e+38. My observation
was, in the polygons where the pixel values are mix of actual elevation
values and -3.40282e+38, it creates inconsistency in the results. For
instance, we have a polygon that covers 9 cells -- the 7 cells contains
elevation values ranging from 4 to 4.59, and the other two cells have
values -3.40282e+38, the result was: *MEAN = -7.56182992530064e+22* and *SUM
= -6.80564693277058e+22*. If the NULL values have been successfully
converted to 0 the result should be MEAN = 2.90103 and SUM = 26.10925.

How can I do this properly.

Thank you in advance for any suggestion and help.

[Qgis-user] Python Script for Multi-band zonal statistics

2013-10-21 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Dear QGIS Users,

Often we want to compute for band statistics for our stacked layers (i.e.,
bands 1 to 9). In QGIS, the available plugin for this is the Zonal
Statistics plugin but it only computes for one band at a time, and as we
suspect if our input is a stacked layer the plugin seems to get the average
values for all the stacked layers in a polygon.

So, I searched for some answers in the web, and I found a python script. I
used it and it seems to be working well, but this only works for one band,
So, what I did was to copy the script and change the band number for each
copy. However, this resulted in a very long script, and I think there is a
much better script than this. Can someone help me improve my script. I am
just new to Python. I just completed a basic Python training course.

import qgis.analysis
vectorlayer=qgis.utils.iface.mapCanvas().layer(0)
rasterfile = qgis.utils.iface.mapCanvas().layer(1).source()

We used this tool most often to determine the average reflectance or
backscatter from our images per zone (polygon).

[Qgis-user] QGIS 1.8.0 Crash open Project Settings

2014-01-08 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Dear QGIS Users,

Good Day!

I have a problem with my QGIS 1.8.0. I have repeatedly install and
uninstall the program but the behavior is still the same. The QGIS crashes
when I *1.*) open Settings > Project Settings, *2.)* when I save as the
layer and select Layer CRS button or *3.)* Click the CRS Status Icon on the
lower right portion.

When I uninstall QGIS, I erase also *.qgis* folder under Users and Quantum
GIS Lisboa folder under Program Files (x86). I don't know why this crash
happens.

When I install, I also do rebooting to ensure proper installation. I have
not experienced this before. I am using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OS.

Thanks in advance for any help!

[Qgis-user] Sextante/Processing Toolbox

2014-01-21 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Dear *QGIS *Users,

Good Day!

Just would like to ask how to properly configure sextante/processing
toolbox GRASS and SAGA modules using the QGIS 2.0 standalone installer.

I installed QGIS 2.0 Dufour, GRASS 6.4.3 and SAGA using standalone
installers. Then in the Processing Menu > Options and Configurations I set
the following:

*GRASS Folder:* C:\Program Files (x86)\GRASS 6.4.3
*Msys Folder:* C:\Program Files (x86)\GRASS 6.4.3\Msys

*SAGA Folder:* C:\Program Files (x86)\SAGA-GIS

*I am not quite sure about the actual path name because I already
uninstalled QGIS 2.0 standalone application as well as GRASS and SAGA.*

When I ran each module of GRASS it says that my GRASS folder is not
properly configured.

I installed QGIS, GRASS, SAGA, and Orfeo Toolbox using the OSGeo4W 32-bit
installer and it is working okay.

I just want to ask how can I properly configure the processing toolbox
using QGIS, GRASS, and SAGA standalone installers. Because we are planning
to give training to our partners and I feel that the OSGeo4W will not be
practical to use as installer for the training because we might have
slow/interrupted internet connection.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Andrew,

Good day!

Thanks for your advice, I'll copy the downloaded files in my USB. BTW, is
there any other way to configure the modules of GRASS and SAGA using
standalone installers? or the best way is to use OSGeo4W installer?

Thanks

[Qgis-user] Field calculator

2014-03-26 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Deal ALL QGIS Users,

I have a strange results when using the Field Calculator. I have an integer
value in one of my column ranging from 1 to 13. I would like to get the
percentage of it when divided by 18. So in field calculator my expression
is "(DN" / 18) * 100. When I execute this expression I got all 0 results in
all cells. My column where the results should be stored is in Real with
Width = 3 and Precision = 3. I did the same in ArcGIS but the results were
correct.

Also, I tried another method, this time I created a column first, then I
just divide the DN values to 18 but still the results are 0 in all cells in
my column.

I am using QGIS 2.2 installed using OSGeo4W installer, with Windows 7 64
bit OS.

Could anyone help me troubelshoot?

Thanks,

[Qgis-user] Value Tool Python Error Prompt

2014-04-02 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi QGIS users,

Good day!

I installed/added the Value tool plugin in QGIS 2.2. The installation was
successful. But whenever I enable the Value tool and turn on a layer in the
map legend a Python Error occurs. It doesn't crash (after the error prompt
the value tool still works), but I don't know why there is a Python error
prompt. I did not encounter this one when I am using QGIS 2.0.

Below is the Python Error Prompt:

I am using QGIS 2.2 Valmiera installed via OSGeo4W installer 32 bit. I am
using Windows 7 64 bit OS.

Thanks,

Re: [Qgis-user] Tablet vs GPS accuracy

2014-04-03 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi Guys,

Thanks all for your valuable insights about my inquiry. I really appreciate
your comments. I can use your comments as reference on how we will also
evaluate GIS applications in Tablets.

Our application mainly falls on agriculture. We want to use the tablets for
surveying in Rural areas. And we want to use QGIS android so we can load
our shapefile and raster maps for validation. On the other hand, we will
also want to use tablets to take location of field corners of farmers field
to get the plot size (this is where accuracy is important).

I observe that when there is a wifi the location significantly increases in
tablets. But of course, wifi is not available in rural areas. So, if we
will use tablet we will just rely on available GPS signal, weather, and the
device.

Thank so much, and again I really appreciate the comments,
-Leo

[Qgis-user] Cell Statistics in QGIS

2014-04-13 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi ALL QGIS users,

Good day!

I want to calculate the sum of the raster layers, but I want to ignore the
no data values in the calculation. This is similar to cell statistics
(spatial analyst) enable the *Ignore NoData in calculations (optional)* in
ArcGIS.

So far I am doing all my process in QGIS (batch processing is great in the
processing toolbox). This is the only step that I am using ArcGIS because I
cannot find the right tool in QGIS.

Thanks in advance for any help.

[Qgis-user] Field Calculator Get lon values of points

2014-04-28 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Dear QGIS users,

Good day!

I want to get the longitude and latitude coordinate values of my points. I
used Geometry > $x and Geometry > $y to derive longitude and latitude of my
points. It give me correct values but when I exit editing mode the values
were rounded to whole number. For instance:

my Lon values is 95.94592 but when I exit editing mode this value is
converted to 95.0

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: [Qgis-user] Field Calculator Get lon values of points

2014-04-28 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi Alex,

Thanks for you comment. I have already solved the issue. When I first
created the field I set the width to 3 and precision to 5 - this is where
my values were rounded to whole number. But when I tried it the second
time, I leave the width to its default value of 12 and adjusted the
precision to 5 my value were not rounded (i got the correct values). The
width supposed to be the number of characters for the integer and precision
is the decimal places.

Thanks,
-Leo

Thanks Alex, it cleared some of my questions. Before I thought that the
width is only for the integer and do not consider the number of decimal
places.

[Qgis-user] Projection String

2014-05-08 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi ALL,

Good Day!

I have two files: 1) a raster data; 2) a vector fileI would like to
overlay my datasets in QGIS but I cannot seem to get the correct Projection
String.

I extracted the Projection Information of the Raster file in *Raster
*> *Miscellaneous
*> *Information*. And the details are as follows:

Driver: ENVI/ENVI .hdr Labelled
Files: Drive:/Folder/Folder/Folder/Folder/data_h30v07
   Drive:/Folder/Folder/Folder/Folder\filename.hdr
Size is 4800, 4800
Coordinate System is:
PROJCS["Sample Sinusoidal",
GEOGCS["GCS_WGS_1984",
DATUM["WGS_1984",
SPHEROID["WGS_84",6378137.0,298.257223563]],
PRIMEM["Greenwich",0.0],
UNIT["Degree",0.0174532925199433]],
PROJECTION["Sinusoidal"],
PARAMETER["False_Easting",0.0],
PARAMETER["False_Northing",0.0],
PARAMETER["longitude_of_center",30.0],
UNIT["Meter",1]]
Origin = (13343406.2363100,2223901.0392980)
Pixel Size = (231.65635825990,-231.65635825990)

The projection string that I created for the above projection is:

*+proj=sinu +lon_0=30 +x_0=0 +y_0=0 +a=6378137.0 +b=298.257223563 +units=m
+no_defs*

I created a custom projection in QGIS, but still it won't overlay. Is there
something wrong with my string?

The *+b *is the semi-minor axis right? If so, the values 298 is I think
weird.

Thanks in advance for any replies,

Re: [Qgis-user] Projection String

2014-05-08 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi Even and QGIS users,

Thanks for the reply.

I open the metadata of my raster file and copy the projection string:

+proj=sinu +lon_0=30 +x_0=0 +y_0=0 +ellps=WGS84 +towgs84=0,0,0,0,0,0,0
+units=m +no_defs

I used the projection string in the metadata to modify my custom
projection. But still it won't overlay...I open the .hdr file of my raster
file, and here is the metadata:

ENVI
description = {
  Applied Mask Result [Mon Oct 21 11:27:39 2013]}
samples = 4800
lines   = 4800
bands   = 368
header offset = 0
file type = ENVI Standard
data type = 1
interleave = bip
sensor type = Unknown
byte order = 0
map info = {Sample Sinusoidal, 1., 1., 13343406.2363, 2223901.0393,
2.3165635826e+002, 2.3165635826e+002, WGS-84, units=Meters}
coordinate system string = {PROJCS["Sample
Sinusoidal",GEOGCS["GCS_WGS_1984",DATUM["D_WGS_1984",SPHEROID["WGS_1984",6378137.0,298.257223563]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0.0],UNIT["Degree",0.0174532925199433]],PROJECTION["Sinusoidal"],PARAMETER["False_Easting",0.0],PARAMETER["False_Northing",0.0],PARAMETER["Central_Meridian",30.0],UNIT["Meter",1.0]]}
wavelength units = Unknown
band names = {

What could be the possible parameter(s) that I did not include in my
projection string?

Thanks again,
-Leo

[Qgis-user] r.recode in processing toolbox

2014-05-09 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Dear QGIS users,

Good Day!

I am recoding the values in my raster data. So I use the r.recode module in
the processing toolbox. I am using a recode rule from a text file that says:

I want to replace the value 3 with the new value 1448.8

3:3:1448.8:1448.8

It run completely Okay. No problem with the processing. I just find it
weird that when I select a cell using the Identify Feature it gave me a
value of 1448.800048828125. How can I retain the number of decimal places?

Thanks,

[Qgis-user] Share Python Script for Point Analyses Tool

2014-06-03 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi QGIS Users,

I am processing multi-temporal EVI data derived from MODIS, and the number
of datasets could be around 70 images. I have points and want to extract
pixel values from those points. I know that the Point Analyses Tool can do
it. However, it is cumbersome to load all the MODIS data because it takes
too long. Is there a way to extract the pixel values from points without
actually loading the datasets? Maybe a script (GDAL or Python) can do this.
Can somebody help me or point me to the right blog or website where I can
use as reference.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Have you tried to use the tool before that you suggested me

but I get an error message - I think I got the input-output argument right.
Can you help me debug it?

I am running it in five MODIS-EVI dataset first for testing. I am using

am using Windows 7 64 bit professional OS. I have the extract_values.py

Re: [Qgis-user] Share Python Script for Point Analyses Tool

2014-06-04 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi Saber,
The code does not want long shapefile filename - so I rename my shapefile.
I also modifed the argument not to take the whole directory but specific
files. Since my raster data are in ENVI format, it throws an error when the
code reads the .hdr files.

This is my new argument that I executed in OSGeo4W shell:

E:\Test_modis>python extract_values.py -c pts.shp 2013041 2013049 2013057
2013065 2013073

But it still throw an error message. When I look at the attribute table of
the pts.shp it created new fieldnames based on raster filename but all the
values are NULL.

Thanks,
-Leo

this is the error message that I got:

E:\Test_modis>python extract_values.py -c pts.shp 2013041 2013049 2013057

[Qgis-user] QgsZonalStatistics

2014-07-08 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Dear QGIS Users,

I am trying to run a script in python console to calculate zonal statistics
but it always throws an error. This is the script that I am running:

import qgis.analysis
vectorlayer=r'E:\filepath\vector.shp'
rasterfile = r'E:\filepath\raster.tif'
zonalstats =
qgis.analysis.QgsZonalStatistics(vectorlayer,rasterfile,str(1), 1)
zonalstats.calculateStatistics(None)

The error says:

TypeError: arguments dit not match any overloaded call:
QgsZonalStatistics(QgsVectorLayer, QString, QString attributePrefix="", int
rasterBand=1): argument 1 has unexpected type 'str'
QgsZonalStatistics(QgsZonalStatistics): argument 1 has unexpected type 'str'

However, if I load my raster and vector file in QGIS and run the script
below, it is working properly:

import qgis.analysis
vectorlayer=qgis.utils.iface.mapCanvas().layer(0)
rasterfile = qgis.utils.iface.mapCanvas().layer(1).source()
zonalstats =
qgis.analysis.QgsZonalStatistics(vectorlayer,rasterfile,str(1), 1)
zonalstats.calculateStatistics(None)

Thanks in advance for any help.

[Qgis-user] atcorr implementation in QGIS

2014-07-08 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi Users,

I want to run i.atcorr module in the processing toolbox but with no
success. The process throws the error/warning below.

I am processing Landsat 8 data. I've tried different options in the atcorr
interface - with DEM and no DEM; output is floating and not floating
number. But still gets the error/warning message below.

Other details:
Os - Windows 7 64 bit
version: QGIS 2.2 32 bit installed using OSGeo Installer

Thanks,
-Leo

Oooops! The following output layers could not be open

   - Name for output raster map:
   E:/Landsat_8_trial/LC81330482013106LGN01/Atcor/b1.tif

The above files could not be opened, which probably indicates that they
were not correctly produced by the executed algorithm

Checking the log information might help you see why those layers were not
created as expected

This algorithm requires GRASS to be run. A test to check if GRASS is
correctly installed and configured in your system has been performed, with
the following result:

GRASS seems to be correctly installed and configured

[Qgis-user] Vector symbology from attribute table

2014-08-04 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi QGIS users,

Is there a way to automatically define the symbology of vector layer using
a column in the attribute table that defines the RGB?

I want to do this to have a uniform color coding for each land use types.
Some land use types might have more or less classes than for each
administrative boundary. I am thinking if I can encode the RGB values in my
attribute table and later use it to define my symbology.

Thanks for any help and advice,

Re: [Qgis-user] Vector symbology from attribute table

2014-08-04 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi Zoltan,

I tried it and it was working, it defines well the symbology of my vector
layer. However, there is a little bit of problem. In my legend items it
only create one color (black). the color scheme of my legend doesn't seem
to follow the color combinations that I set in my attribute table. it would
be better if the color scheme of my attribute table will be reflected also
in my legend items.

This is how I encoded the color codes in my attribute table:
class  color (R, G, B)
1 197, 197, 197

Thanks,
-Leo

[Qgis-user] Python Path

2014-08-10 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi QGIS users,

Good Day!

Would like to ask how can I execute my python script in Python Shell? It
keeps on asking me that the module that I am using does not exist.

I converted the OSGeo4W shell to a python shell using the python command.
C:\> python

Then I execute my file >>>
execfile('folderpath\\multiband_zonalstat_pythonshell.py')

*Then it throws an error:*
*Traceback (most recent call last):*
*  File "", line 1, in *
*  File "folderpath\multiband_zonalstat_pythonshell.py", line 1, in *
*import qgis.analysis*

This is the script that I am trying to run in python shell:

import qgis.analysis
vectorlayer = QgsVectorLayer(r"folderpath/YEU.shp", "Ye-U", "ogr")
rasterfile = "rasterpath/cdz_raw_image.img"
for num in range(1):
zonalstats =
qgis.analysis.QgsZonalStatistics(vectorlayer,rasterfile,str(num),num)
 zonalstats.calculateStatistics(None)

I tried checking the system path (please see below), and I think it can
locate my OSGeo python installation path.

I also tried editing my system variables path and include the OSGeo python,
and OSGeo QGIS path but still it throws the same error.

I am trying to run my script in a python shell to test if the processing
time will be much shorter compare to running it in the python console in
QGIS.

On the other hand, I also tried to include the following lines in the
beginning of my script with no success:
*import sys*
*sys.path.extend([r'C:\OSGeo4W\apps\qgis\python',
r'C:\OSGeo4W\apps\qgis\bin'])*

it throws this error:

*Traceback (most recent call last):*
*  File "", line 1, in *
*  File "E:\Python_scripts\multiband_zonalstat_pythonshell.py", line 3, in
*
*import qgis.analysis*
*  File "C:\OSGeo4W\apps\qgis\python\qgis\__init__.py", line 35, in
*
*from qgis.core import QgsFeature, QgsGeometry*
*ImportError: DLL load failed: The specified module could not be found.*

I am not sure why it can't find qgis.analysis module or is there something
wrong with my script.

Thanks for the help and clarification,
-Leo

Can you help me create a syntax in field calculator to add in the attribute

Re: [Qgis-user] polygon centroids

2014-08-28 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi Alexander,

Thanks for your reply. In my understanding, this only applies if I have
point coordinates, right? If I have polygons I think I need another syntax?

I can create centroids in Vector > Geometry > Polygon Centroids tool then
apply $x and $y to extract lat lon coordinates, but in some cases I want to
skip this process if I am dealing with more than 300 thousand features in
my polygon layer.

Thanks,

Hi ALL,

I have two columns, namely "Date" and "Time" in QString format. How can I
convert these columns to Date Time (-mm-dd hh:mm:ss) format.

Thanks,

[Qgis-user] batch conversion of raster file to GeoTIFF format

2015-03-05 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi QGIS users,

I am having a problem converting my *539 raster* files to *GeoTIFF format*.
I tried using the GDAL *Translate* option in the *Processing Toolbox* but
it reads only the **.hdr* file of my raster not the file that holds my
raster data. When I execute the batch process file using *file.hdr* as my
input it returns:

Processing of the following files ended with error:
> ERROR 1: The selected file is an ENVI header file, but to
> open ENVI datasets, the data file should be selected
> instead of the .hdr file. Please try again selecting
> the data file corresponding to the header file:
> J:/MODIS_EVI_smooth/mod_2002345_EVI_smth.hdr

>> J:/MODIS_EVI_smooth/mod_2002345_EVI_smth.hdr
>

I cannot find the appropriate file type option when selecting which files
to load as my inputs. Even thought I select* files(*.)* type option, still
I cannot find my files in my directory.

I have also tried to load the *file.hdr* and later remove the **.hdr*
extension before executing the batch process but with no success.

This is the sample file that I am working on:

mod_2002345_EVI_smthFile...45,000KB
> mod_2002345_EVI_smth.hdr.. HDR.1KB

mod_2002345_EVI_smth.sml..SML File3KB

I have successfully converting one raster file using Translate module
under *Raster
> Conversion > Translate* but I can only process one at a time. But I don't
want to do this for my remaining raster data. Please also note the I have
tried the batch mode but with no success.

I copied the GDAL script (below) and I wonder if I can run a batch
processing of this script in OSGeo Shell. Just my guess.

gdal_translate -a_srs "+proj=sinu +lon_0=0 +x_0=0 +y_0=0 +a=6371007.181
> +b=6371007.181 +units=m +no_defs" -a_nodata -3000 -of GTiff
> J:/MODIS_EVI_smooth/mod_2002345_EVI_smth
> J:/MODIS_EVI_smooth_TIFF/mod_2002345_EVI_smth.tif

Can you help me with this.

Thanks,
-Leo

[Qgis-user] QGIS Export Map

2015-03-08 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi QGIS users,

I have a bit of a problem. I am using Open Layers Google Physical Layer as
background of my other layers. When I layout my maps in Print Composer, the
layers are well aligned. But when I export it to JPEG or PNG the output
product is misaligned. I allow on-the-fly option when the layer from Open
Layers were added. So, I thought this might be causing the issue. But then
I transformed all of my layers to EPSG 3857 but still problem persist.

Can you help me with this?

I am using QGIS 2.6.1 Brighton installed via OSGeo.

[Qgis-user] Zonal Statistics Computation

2015-03-12 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi QGIS Users,

I would like to ask if anybody have experienced getting different results
using *A)* Zonal Statistics Plugin and *B)* Zonal Statistics in Graphical
Modeler?

Here is the description of our *Dataset*:

*Vector*
5 features (2 features have area of 1.74 and 1.89 ha; 3 features have less
than 1 ha. area). These are farmer plots.

*Raster*
pixel size is 180m X 180m = 3.24ha.

*Processing*

Running Zonal Statistics in Graphical Modeler:
Only computes realistic statistics for 2 features (area having 1.74 and
1.89 ha) but gives weird computation for features having less than 1 ha.
For features less than 1 ha, it gives values 0. and 1.

Running Zonal Statistics in Raster > Zonal Statistics > Zonal Statistics:
It gives realistic values for all features.

This happens in QGIS "Brighton" and "Wien".

Thanks,

Re: [Qgis-user] Qgis-user Digest, Vol 109, Issue 23

2015-03-12 Thread Leo Kris Palao
HI Stefan,

Yes, I read the issue in the link that you gave me. In one thread, there is
an issue of both zonal statistics plugin and zonal statistics in processing
toolbox are not working. But in my case the ZonalStats Plugin is working
and the other is not. I browsed my data again and found that some polygons
are not in the middle of the raster. However, it seems that ZonalStats
plugin considers the polygons even though other the polygons are not in the
center of the raster. Is there a difference between the algorithm between
the two ZonalStats option. By the way, I am using the ZonalStatistics
under *QGIS
 geoalgorithms* > *Raster tools*.

Is there something that I missed from the threads that you shared with me?

Thanks for the help.

[Qgis-user] QGIS tracking/fieldwork application

Hi QGIS Users,

Good day!

I watched the live tracking video of QGIS in
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WevRW4tbzs&t=253
(Live Tracking and sampling with Quantum GIS, a tablet PC and a Bluetooth
datalogger)

I am interested to the same. I am particularly interested on how I can
customize my forms such that when I digitize a point, I can use drop down
menu options, combo box, etc. If you could point me in the right direction
(blogs, websites), will be very helpful.

[Qgis-user] Snap Raster

2015-03-20 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi QGIS Users,

Would like to inquire if there is an option in GDAL or in QGIS GUI to snap
cells of the other raster to another raster layer.

Reason for this is that, I have a raster projected in WGS 84 then I would
like to project it to MODIS Sinusoidal projection. But I want the output
reprojected layer to adjust and match the cell alignment of the
specified/reference raster.

Similar to Snap Raster option in ArcGIS Environment Settings.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS: great at sea...(teaching & research in the field)

2015-03-22 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi QGIS Users,

I have also a very nice experience with QGIS, that I would like to write a
simple case study for sharing. Last November, we used QGIS live tracking
capability to collect precise ground-truth data using medium resolution
imagery for complex land use pattern mapping. We simply overlay MODIS grids
(vector format) and landsat imagery in QGIS. By overlaying the grids in
QGIS we know our relative position on the ground with respect to each MODIS
pixels. Then we orient our eyes based on the extent and direction of the
pixels. We can accurately categorize the land use pattern for each pixel.
And this helps us a lot, since we might be collecting/evaluating ground
information for wrong pixels. We then use Add feature function to
automatically grab the current point. Thanks QGIS!

After clicking "OK" it loads QGIS. I have not tried to process anything so
I have no idea if this will affect some of the functions in QGIS.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit. Installed QGIS via OSGeo 32bit.

note: I already restarted my laptop.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS 2.8 runtime error

2015-04-07 Thread Leo Kris Palao
HI Ross and QGIS Users,

I tried the solution from the forum but still I am receiving runtime error.
I run process explorer and found that msvcr71.dll and msvcr100.dll in my
C:\OSGeo4W/bin\ directory. I tried to 1) remove both; 2) remove
msvcr71.dll, and 3) msvcr100.dll but still I am getting the runtime error
prompt when opening QGIS.

When I installed QGIS 2.8 I erased first all the qgis files in my C:\
directory before running the OSGeo installer. I do not know if this has
something to do with this issue. Because before I installed QGIS 2.6,
installed also using OSGeo installer, but I have no issue like this.

Thanks,
-Leo

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS 2.8 runtime error

2015-05-11 Thread Leo Kris Palao
Hi Ross and QGIS users,

I updated to QGIS 2.8.2 (thanks QGIS) but still I got the runtime error
R6034. I know this the issue is beyond QGIS, but can you give me some light
on how the procedure below works (if this works for most users with the
same issue):

Basically, I have the process explorer already and found out that there are
msvcr??.dll that is not in my windows system folder. msvcr71.dll and
msvcr100.dll located in path:\OSGeo4W\bin\ directory.

Step 6: Check the path before the application run. -- So I open QGIS and
the message is Runtime Error! Program: path:\OSGeo4W\bin\qgis-bin.exe. Is
this the path step 6 is referring to?

The solution is to remove the offending entry from the path using a batch
file. -- this is not quite clear to me how I will implement this one.

Thanks,
-Leo

   1.

   Download Process Explorer here
   <http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx>.
   2.

Start your application and reproduce runtime error R6034.
   3.

Start Process Explorer. In the "View" menu go to "Lower Pane View" and
   choose "DLLs".
   4.

In the top pane, locate your application and click on it. The bottom
pane should show a list of DLLS loaded for your application.
   5.

Locate "msvcr??.dll" in the list. There should be several. Look for the
one that is not in the "winsxs" folder, and make a note of it.
   6.

Now, check the path just before your application runs. If it includes
the folder you noted in step 5, you've probably found the culprit.

How to fix the problem? You'll have to remove the offending entry from the
path before running your program. In my case, I don't need anything else in
the path, so I wrote a simple batch file that looks like this:

path=
myprogram.exe

That's it. The batch file simply clears the path before my program runs, so
that the conflicting runtime DLL is not found.

Hope this helps!
