[Qgis-user] Error when saving a csv in a Shapefile
Dear list users, I am trying to save a .csv (add delimited text layer) file like ESRI Shapefile and I got the following error: Export to vector file failed. Error: Failed to transform a point while drawing a feature of type ''. Writing stopped. (Exception: forward transform of (9675.16, 17098.5) failed with error: latitude or longitude exceeded limits ) Do you know why is the error? Thank you very much Alex. I was rying to save the file in a specific UTM system for Costa Rica (CRTM05) but I left "save to the original CRS" and it works. [Qgis-user] I cannot open a shapefile with QGIS 1.5.0
Dear list members, I was opening shapefiles without any problem, but now I cannot open them. I am working with QGIS 1.5.0 on Windows 7 and the error message is: C:/ProyectosRespacial/ICE/SIG_Biotica_PHED/AID_ Biotica_121010_CRTM05_conrios5m.shp is not a valid or recognized data source Thank you very much in advance. [Qgis-user] Dissolve a shapefile in qgis
Dear qgis users, I am trying to use the dissolve function of the ftools to "merge" 3 polygons of a shapefile but qgis get stuck on the 66% of the "status bar". Update on the problem. When I try to bring any of the 3 options on View/Decorations: "Copyright Label", "North Arrow", "Scale Bar", from the QGIS Plugin Manager, QGIS crashes. [Qgis-user] Scale of colors on a raster map for a species distribution
Dear list members, I exported a raster layer (that is the name of the class in R) from R to different file formats: Erdas (img), ESRI (asc) and .tif, however, when I open the file in QGIS it show me only one color, not the scale of colors of the map. The raster layer is the result of a species distribution modeling. Any idea how can I display the scale of colors of the map? For the second option, what I need to know for this particular projection in order to define the projection? I mean, there is no CRTM (only for Costa Rica) in the QGIS predefined reference system. Dear list users, I am trying to save a shapefile in UTM to a shapefile in geographic coordinates (WSG84) using "save as" from the TOC but I don't get the result that I want, the shapefile is saved in the same UTM system. I don't think it's the reason - the plugin does it automatically. If you get the transformation error, probably your shapefile has wrong CRS definition - Qgis tries to reproject it on the fly to Google Mercator, but fails because the source CRS is declared wrongly. The OpenLayers plugin should automatically set the project CRS to Google Mercator and switch the On-The-Fly-Reprojection on. It's because vectors can be reprojected on the fly to meet rasters, not vice versa! Dear list members, I am using the field calculator in 1.8.0 (Mac OS) I am creating a new field (column) called NEW_COVER and I want to assign a value of 1 to the value A of the existing field (column) Cover and 0 to the value B. Field: Cover Values: A, B In the Expression window I have: 'A' = 1 But when I click OK, I don't get the result that I was expecting, to have a value 1 on the new field NEW_COVER. What I am doing wrong? [Qgis-user] Obtaining information for each buffer
Dear list members, I am doing buffers (Buffer, Geoprocessing tools) on 20 points to extract the percentage of forest cover within the buffer on a land use layer. When I do this with "Intersect" from the Geoprocessing tool I got a shapefile with all the information from all the buffer but without distinguishing each individual buffer. Is it possible to obtain the percentage of forest cover on each buffer (individualizing the information for each buffer)? Dear list members, I have a landuse layer and another layer with 20 circular polygons (buffers) and I want to obtain the amount of each landuse category within each circular polygon. I tried "clip" from Geoprocessing Tools but I dont get the information individualized for each circular polygon. Is it possible to get the landuse within each circular polygon in one step? The buffer could be considered a landscape for some species and some metrics could be obtained for these "landscapes", however, I found this task kind of difficult to do in QGIS. Any input on this? Thank you very much André. Yes, I am working with one color band (a raster exported from R), but I cannot solve the problem. The grey is automatically setted to 100 transparency, but that doesn't take the black frame away. Any other suggestion? [Qgis-user] Convrting vector to raster: rasterize (vecor to raster ) in QGIS
Dear list members, I am trying to convert a vector (shapefile) to a raster using the option Conversion -> rasterize under the raster menu, however I don´t understand the result that I am getting. [Qgis-user] Kriging in Mac
Dear list members, I am interested in doing a kriging interpolation in qgis in a Mac computer (OS X 10.8.4). It looks like the SDA4PP is not working and I cannot use Saga through Sextante because I cannot get Saga in my Mac. Is there any other way to implement kriging in qgis? [Qgis-user] matplotlib is not found in QGIS 2.1.0-Master
Dear list members, I installed the nightly build QGIS 2.1.0-Master and I installed the plugin Statist and asked me for matplotlib. I Installed matplotlib but still is asking me for it: "Could not find the matplotlib module" Why is that? I was thinking that QGIS 2.0 would have everything needed integrated to run, except the plugins. How can I solve the problem? I deleted the python 3.3 that I installed
before. Right now I have version 2.7.5., but still QGIS is asking me for
the matplotlib.
I don´t know much how to play with the Terminal.

[Qgis-user] Python Imaging Library for Mac and Python 2.7
Dear list members, I am using QGIS 2.0.1 Dufour in Mac OSX Mavericks and the Lecos plug-in ask me for PIL (Python Imaging Library). I tried to install de the source kit ( http://effbot.org/downloads/Imaging-1.1.7.tar.gz) apparently the only available for Python 2.7, but I cannot install it. [Qgis-user] Using GRASS through Processing
Dear list members, I am trying to use GRASS through Processing and I got the following message: Missing dependency.This algorithm cannot be run :-( This algorithm requires GRASS to be run. Unfortunately, it seems that GRASS is not installed in your system, or it is not correctly configured to be used from QGIS Click here<http://docs.qgis.org/2.0/html/en/docs/user_manual/processing/3rdParty.html>to know more about how to install and configure GRASS to be used with QGIS I took a look at the INFO in Processing and I got this message: GRASS execution console output /bin/sh: /Applications/QGIS.app/Contents/MacOS/grass/grass.sh: Permission denied /bin/sh: /Applications/QGIS.app/Contents/MacOS/grass/grass.sh: Permission denied How can I have access to GRASS to Processing?
