[Qgis-user] Portable GIS

Hugh THANK YOU so much!! You were correct about the distortion. When I checked the length of sides with the measure tool (which I didn't do before) it was a square I also switched the coordinate system which also helped THANK YOU again!! [Qgis-user] Square Buffer
I apologize for posting what I think should be a simple task but I am stumped. I would like to create a 15 km square Buffer around a point for establishing a study site. I have used the buffer tool and set it to square and used 7.5 km as the distance. The buffer that is created is not square but instead is a longer on one set of sides. [Qgis-user] Field Names Changed
I apologize for bothering the list with this but I'm stumped. I have imported a .geojson into QGIS and it displays fine. I then exported selected features as a .csv to do some statistical analysis and this worked fine and the Field Names in the .csv are correct. But when I open the Attribute Table of the.geojson the Field Names in QGIS the Field Names are not the same. There is a correct number of fields for each of the categories, but the Field Names are changed. I'm stumped. I am using 3.18.2 Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. [Qgis-user] Creating Rectangle Around Central Point
Good Morning I am trying to create a square 1km X 1km around a central point that has GPS coordinates. I have tried every suggestion and plugin suggested but am struggling. I am trying to help a set of teachers that would like to run QGIS on Chromebooks. We were able to install 2.14 but would like to be able to run 3.X. The installation runs from the Linux terminal. [Qgis-user] Layout question
I have been using the Equal Earth projection for an example for schools. Is there a way in QGIS to shift the view so that a particular polygon of interest is centered in the layout? What I am trying to do is get a “head onto view” of this polygon instead of having it skewed. [Qgis-user] Help with Rectangles Ovals Digitizing plugin
Hello I would like to be able to create simple polygons of fixed dimensions that I can then clip imagery to. Ideally I would be able to center these over a location to create a boundary map for the imagery. This is for use by P-12 students and their teachers. [Qgis-user] Raster Extent After Clipping

[Qgis-user] Limiting File Choices
I am working with elementary students in using QGIS to develop spatial reasoning. I have created .shp files for them to use but when they go to the folder to add the .shp, all the supporting files are also present, so we are struggling. Is there a way to set the settings so that only the .shp appears as an option to them?
