[Qgis-user] Field Calculator/Python Plugins

2013-10-31 Thread Pretorius Deon - Lieutenant Colonel
Hi,

1. Where can I learn more about on how to use the Field calculator as
well as the Python Plugins as Iam new to this.

2. I need to determine the unemployment rate for each district. There
are over 10 000 small_place_codes and just over 1000 district. The majority of
the small places overlaps with districts so I did an intersection for the two
layers. An example of the results are as follows:

3. How can I now calculate what the average percentage are per
Small_Place_Code and also what the results will be for each district?

Small_Place_Code

Districk_Name

Small_Place_Areakm2

District_AreaKM2

Unemployment_Rate%

2013-10-30 Thread Pretorius Deon - Lieutenant Colonel
Hi, How can I copy only selected attributes column is the attribute table
without have to copy the WKT_Geometry column which is not visible in the
attribute table but visible in the excel spread sheet when pasted because it
takes a lot of space in my excel spread sheet.

[Qgis-user] FW: Using one vector layers to calculate the unemplyment rate in another vector layer

2013-10-28 Thread Pretorius Deon - Lieutenant Colonel
Hi Everybody,

I have a vector layer that exist out of about 1000 polygons of the different
police districts. Then I have a Sensus sub-place vector layer with over 10 000
sub-places which indicate the number of unemployed citizens per polygon. The
Sensus sub-place layer therefor overlaps with the police districts and when
visualize some sub-places can make up 1% up to 100% of a given police
district. Most of the police districts also contains 4 or more sub-places.
The problem is I want to calculate the approximate unemployment rate per
police district by using the data from the Sensus sub-place layer. Is there
perhaps an explanation on how I can determine approximately proportionally
what the unemployment is per police district. I am new to QGIS and not up to
date with programming, however any assistance would be appreciated.

[Qgis-user] Topological editing of two vector layers

2013-10-14 Thread Pretorius Deon - Lieutenant Colonel
Hi, Iam new to QGIS. I have two boundary vector layers, the one exist of
polygons of all the provinces and the other of all the districts. The district
boundaries must be aligned with the provincial boundaries. Since there is so
much errors that needs alignment and rectification I was wondering if there
isn't an easier way as to snap to the boundaries without to drag each vertex
which is very time consuming. Is there perhaps a way where the whole
identified segments/vertex of the districts can be aligned easier to the
provincial boundaries.
