Re: [Qgis-user] Problem zooming in on ECW files in QGIS
I had the same issue. Unfortunately I did not find a way to solve it, however, I am doing a workaround by converting the ecw-files into JPEGs using gdal_translate (in QGIS this would be under Raster Conversion translate). The JPEGs will have the same size as the ecw's and you get rid of that zoom-problem and many other issues caused by ECW. On 05/31/2014 03:41 AM, CornGiS [via OSGeo.org] wrote: I opened a 490mb ecw image in QGIS on my mac (using the ecw 1.10.1 GDAL-ECW plug-in 5.1.1. ERDAS Image Compression SDK read-only for desktop). If I open the ecw file using IrfanView I can zoom in without any problem and get a decent picture.. Did anybody have a similiar experience? Does anybody know how to fix this problem? ok, I have to update/correct my last post. So I did exactly as described above (trying to upgrade QGIS 2.0 by re-adding http://qgis.org/debian repo), and when I upgraded all qgis-related packages were kept back except for python-qgis and python-qgis-common, which were installed successfully. I have a point layer (parent entity) and a child-table that I joined to the parent point layer (1:1 relation). The join is working fine and I can see the attributes of the child table once I open the attribute table of the point layer. Re: [Qgis-user] edit joined fields
Thanks Matteo, you can save the joined layer (parent+child) as a new layer. This way, when you load it in QGIS, its attribute table is *unique* and you can style as your wishes. my problem is that both of my layers are stored in a Postgis database and it does not help me if I have to create a new layer which would then not refer to the original tables anymore. Of course, a workaround could be a new layer inside the database that would then update the original tables with a trigger function. But I was wondering if there is an easier way to go in QGIS. Re: [Qgis-user] Lao font not workng under QGIS 1.8 on windows
Solution 1: - Go to folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Quantum GIS Lisboa\bin - open file 'qgis.bat' in a text editor - add below '@echo off': 'SET SHAPE_ENCODING=UTF-8' (without quotes) If this does not help, move on to Solution 2: within the folder of your shapefile, create an additional .cpg-file that contains the ID of the encoding used. For example if encoding UTF-8, .cpg-file contains the following record: “UTF-8” (without quotes). Make sure the cpg-file has the same name as your shapefile , e.g. if your shp-file is named mymap.shp the cpg-file should be named mymap.cpg).
