Re: [Qgis-user] Atlas - Map series along linear object

2024-03-26 Thread Werner Macho via QGIS-User
Hi Michaela,

I once wrote the PolyStrip Plugin to create overlapping polygons along a
path and did the same you want to archieve using this created polygons (if
i remember correct I also calculated the rotation - so it was fairly easy
to use either landscape or portrait and rotate the north arrow along).

https://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/polystrip/

It's just - I think I have not used this plugin since a very long time and
also did not update it recently - so I don't know if it still works - but
it could be a start for what you want to do.
I do not have an example yet (@work) but somewhere at home I should have a
project using this to create what it sounds like is what you are looking
for.
But I think you could tinker around a bit and I am sure you will soon find
a way how to use the polygons (as long as the plugin still works ;) )

Hope this helps a bit getting you started.

regards
Werner

Re: [Qgis-user] Import ISOBUS vector files

2024-02-05 Thread Werner Macho via QGIS-User
Hi!

As far as I can see ISOBUS is a communication protocol and not a
GIS-datafile standard.

(
https://www.csselectronics.com/pages/isobus-introduction-tutorial-iso-11783#what-is-isobus
)
So my first question would be - why would you "import" that in QGIS and for
what purpose?

Re: [Qgis-user] Cannot save

2023-11-30 Thread Werner Macho via QGIS-User
Hi!
Good point Raymond, but I'd rather prefer to have a detailed description of
what has happened.
A simple sentence of:
"What is the problem as I cannot save."
is just not enough to provide a proper solution.

What are you trying to save? Where does the data come from?
Which operating system are you using? In which directory are you trying to
save to?
(local? network?).

without having detailed information all you will get is a rough guess out
of the "crystal ball".

And regarding spatialite ..
take a look if the -dev package of spatialite is installed ..
If you want to compile yourself you always need the -dev packages

According to the error message you provided you are missing:
Could not find a package configuration file provided by "Qt5SerialPort"

Try to install the package "libqt5serialport5-dev" (depending on which

Hi Roland,

without trying it my first guess would be that the file

QGIS/src/providers/delimitedtext/qgsdelimitedtextsourceselect.cpp
line number 587 has something to do with it ..

(trySetXYField( fieldList, isValidCoordinate, QStringLiteral( "longitude"
), QStringLiteral( "latitude" ) );
trySetXYField( fieldList, isValidCoordinate, QStringLiteral( "lon" ),
QStringLiteral( "lat" ) );
trySetXYField( fieldList, isValidCoordinate, QStringLiteral( "east" ),
QStringLiteral( "north" ) );
trySetXYField( fieldList, isValidCoordinate, QStringLiteral( "x" ),
QStringLiteral( "y" ) );
trySetXYField( fieldList, isValidCoordinate, QStringLiteral( "e" ),
QStringLiteral( "n" ) );)

maybe give it a try.

2021-07-08 Thread Werner Macho
Hi!

Just a rough guess - maybe you mixed up lat/lon to lon/lat during the
import?
GPS should be in WGS84 (EPSG:4326) so there is not much that could go wrong.

Re: [Qgis-user] replace '\' problem

2021-06-30 Thread Werner Macho
Hi,
As David already mentioned... Backslash is a special character and has to
be treated special.

Therefor you would have to write

replace("field", '\\', '.')

to replace a single backslash with a dot ..

special characters have to be "escaped"

Probably see
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_character
to find out.

Re: [Qgis-user] GeoJSON coordinate precision

2020-09-15 Thread Werner Macho
Hi Christoph,
back in front of my PC there is room for further explanation ;)

if you right click on the layer to export and go to "Export" -> "Save
Features As" the Export window opens ..
If you scroll down a bit there are "Layer Options" - and within the
Layer Options (depending to which format you want to export, but you
said GeoJSON - and within GeoJSON I just checked that the option is
really there) there is the "COORDINATE_PRECISION" Option in the first
line (followed by RFC7946 and WRITE_BBOX).
Default should be 15 as precision ..

Hope this helps

Hi,
only on mobile now, so not tested, but I think you can use the
COORDINATE_PRECISION

Re: [Qgis-user] STDM plugin

2020-07-24 Thread Werner Macho
Hi!

It should be possible to install different versions of QGIS on the
same computer.
I assume you are on Windows - and by using OSGEO4W it is possible.

And for updating a plugin to the latest version of QGIS you might
write directly to the plugin creator and ask for updating the plugin.
(Maybe it is already work in progress - who knows?)

Hi!
Am i right that you "just" want to open a shapefile in QGIS?

First would be: who is the creator?
does the shapefile open where it has been created?
Are all necessary files available? (shapefile can be several files)

maybe you can use ogr2ogr to transform it into a valid shapefile.

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS Server / GetPrint not rendering all the layers (XYZ Tiles for example)

2019-12-13 Thread Werner Macho
Hi,

To me it looks like the server cannot create the path to store its
credentials:

ERROR: Auth db directory path could not be created

Could you probably check permissions if the server is allowed to write
there?

 Hi Arnaud,

It looks like a cache write issue.

QGIS_OPTIONS_PATH must be a directory, not a file path.

 https://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_ogc/server/config.html#qgis-options-path

I would add QGIS_OPTIONS_PATH too. And check that the profile is
writable for QGIS Server (www-data?). After the GetPrint request, I think
you should see the cache folder created.

 This my config :

 QGIS_CUSTOM_CONFIG_PATH=/home/etienne/dev/qgis/server_home/profile
 QGIS_OPTIONS_PATH=/home/etienne/dev/qgis/server_home
 QGIS_PLUGINPATH=/home/etienne/dev/qgis/server_plugin

 Can you check that?

Re: [Qgis-user] Is there an equivalent to the Mutant plugin for QGIS 3.4.11?

2019-10-09 Thread Werner Macho
Hi Yann
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, the current mutant is only experimental because it was only a "quick"
port to QGIS 3.x.
If you find it can be marked as stable just drop me a not (while I am still
not sure about if everything really works as expected).
Due to illness and heavy workload I am currently not able to improve
stability and do programming work, so you are very welcome to create pull
requests or file issues if you find something.

kind regards
Werner

[Qgis-user] Announcement: OSGeo selected as an umbrella organisation for GSoC 2019

2019-02-26 Thread Werner Macho
Dear QGIS community,
(and sorry for crossposting)

we’re pleased to announce that OSGeo has been selected as an umbrella
organisation for Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2019.

@Mentors: In the coming days, we admins will be inviting the mentors
that have filled the form [1]. If you want to be a mentor and haven’t
filled the form yet, please do it *ASAP*.

@All members of the community: be prepared and responsive in the
coming days to welcome students and answer their inquiries. From
Google admins: “Students who engage with their organization early (and
often) are more likely to be accepted and then succeed. We encourage
you to get to know the students and help them get to know you! Please
continue to flesh out your ideas lists and documentation over the next
few weeks.”

Please, forward this email to your developer and community mailing list.

@Students:
According to the official timeline [2], student application period
will be March 25, 2019 - April 9, 2019.

For your convenience, this year you can also download the proposal
template from [3]. After filling the template and detailing the
proposal, it must be submitted following the guidelines given by
Google.

Remember to submit your proposal well in advance, so that you can make
the most out of the feedback from mentors and the community at large
and refine your proposal until final deadline. Read the application
instructions here [4]. The same page contains all the info you need
before taking action, read it all carefully! Good luck everyone!

We admins will be available as always at ,
however, consider using public channels if the topic is not sensitive,
i.e. soc mailing list [5]

We are looking forward to working with you towards another awesome
edition of GSoC!

Kind regards
OSGeo GSoC admins

Re: [Qgis-user] North arrow in QGIS

2019-02-13 Thread Werner Macho
Hi Richard,

Thats exactly the thing users can easily learn.
You have to connect the image to a map.
Of course most of the time there will be only one map, but if there are
more the computer does not know which map to connect to (Sync with map)
Once the connection is done (IIRC there is good documentation on this) the
image rotates the same way you rotate the map.
Thats it ..
Once you know how to do it - you'll never forget - and it is handy in a lot
of different ways and helps to know this broad approach.

This is what a search gives me:
https://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/print_composer/composer_items/composer_image.html

It's a life long learning isn't it?

Werner

Re: [Qgis-user] North arrow in QGIS

2019-02-13 Thread Werner Macho
Hi,

while I see that a lot of "other" GIS Software has its own button for north
arrows I am against adding a north-arrow button.

reasons:
While this is one of the few points which is not intuitive at a first
glance the user has to learn how to add the north arrow (and learn that a
north arrow is nothing else than an ordinary image).

During learning how to add the arrow I am sure the user will:
1. realize how easy this is done
2. realize that not only north arrows can be added this way but literally
every image
3. realize how mighty and handy this function can be due to just not being
specialized but rather be as open as possible

In the end while not being handy at the very first moment the user has
gained much more insight than just clicking a button (and hoping that it
adjusts correct to whatever map he wants).

This is the experience I've made with letting users play and search for
north arrows for like 3min.

regards
Werner

[Qgis-user] We need mentors for Google Code-In

2017-10-06 Thread Werner Macho
Hi Developers and Users (Sorry for crossposting, but there is not much
time left)

Google starts a new competition for Students. Google Code in.

GCI is a competition addressed to high-school students aged 13-17, as an
introduction to the open source world. They are supposed to complete as
much tasks as possible to win the contest. These tasks should be short
simple stuff (3-5 hours) from beginner stuff such as installing the
software and displaying a map to more advanced things such as proposing
a patch of code to fix a bug. However, since the students have to
complete several tasks to win, we need to plan lots of them and be
available to review what the students submit rather quickly, so they can
start with a new one. For that reason, it is better if we are more
mentors. Since the tasks do not involve only code stuff, everyone
interested is invited to propose tasks and join as mentor!

Extra info about GCI and examples of tasks might be found in the
dedicated OSGeo wikis:
- https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Google_Code_In_2017_Tasks

Re: [Qgis-user] Value Tool Maintainer? - Bilinear interpolation in value tool plugin

2017-05-08 Thread Werner Macho
Hi Lukas!

Good to hear that I am not alone anymore.
Drop me a note with your github username to get write access to the repository.
Would be nice to follow the path - and even more - to combine every
function into one plugin.

I am already thinking about implementing another graphical library
since PyQwt is more or less dead :( ..
But vispy somehow seems to be "not ready" yet .. we'll see.
With Qt5 PyQwt must be dropped anyway .. and matplotlib is incredible slow..

But lets discuss that once we are on porting.

Werner

2017-05-06 Thread Werner Macho
Hi Lukas,

A few days (well, to be honest I think it's actually years) I forked the
Valuetool to extend it with the ability to display temporal structured
raster data values.
I try to maintain my version of "Valuetool" as good as I can (though I
now have to finish my thesis about this topic before going back to
actually work on it again).
An update/upgrade for QGIS 3.0 is definitely planned.
So if you like to work on it (and probably migrate your patch over to my
version) you can take a look at

https://github.com/mach0/mutant

You are more than welcome to join. If everything works good I am going
to start porting to QGIS 3.0 with July 2017.

Please give it a try .. and please report errors or malfunctions ;)

(For better communications I would be in vienna at least once a month)

kind regards
Werner

Re: [Qgis-user] EasyCustomLabel

2017-05-03 Thread Werner Macho
Hi!

Hmm - one more idea ..

Plugin manager -> Check for updates on startup ...

Probably it is set to "every two weeks" or "every month" on linux ..
But the Plugin should be there for a longer time ..

But before you continue to find out what happened..
I just searched for it on my Windows Computer - and I could not find it too..

So maybe a version of it has been withdrawn.. or something else must
be happening there right now.. at least in QGIS 2.18.7
I just gave the latests nightly a try ( QGIS 3.0) and there it is available ..

I'm going to try to find out later in the afternoon where the problem lies..

Werner

2017-05-02 Thread Werner Macho
Hi!

Are the settings in the plugin installer options the same?
Are you behind a proxy (where one computer has the proxy settings and
the other does not)?
Is the path to the plugin repository the same?
Is the QGIS Version the same?

The plugin is there . and since a few days also for QGIS3 .. so you
should be able to install it..

Hi!

I never got that deep into LRS but to my knowledge you can include
points that are "near" a line and reference them.
While Qchainage is strictly bound to measure distances along a feature.

Re: [Qgis-user] [Qgis-developer] QGIS : vector Geoprocessing algorithms implementation

Dear Manish,

As you posted also in the qgis mailing lists, I assume you want to work on
your idea within the QGIS Project, but unfortunately your mail does not
tell exactly whithin which project you'd like to code.

In [1] you can find basic and important informations for proactive students
who are interested in this year's OSGeo-GSoC activities.
Please screen the ideas page at [2], read the GSoC recommendations for
students listed in [3] and then join the OSGeo's project communities of
your interest, introduce yourself and discuss your GSoC ideas, skills etc
with the communities. Explain your idea as briefly as possible and try to
find a mentor within the project.

Kind regards
Werner (on behalf of the OSGeo-GSoC admin team)

2017-03-27 Thread Werner Macho
Dear OSGeo community, students,

* according to the Google Summer of Code 2017 Timeline [1]:

April 3 16:00 UTC Student application deadline

there will be only 7 days left for student applications.

* @Students:

Browse the ideas page at [2] and carefully read the recommendation for
students, particularly the application instructions at [3].

* Quoting verbatim from Google Admins:

"Historically, the students with the best proposals reach out to the
orgs early to receive
feedback before submitting their final proposal."

So don't wait until it is to late to give you feedback, but instead
join the communication
channels of your chosen software community and discuss over the proposal.

*Please forward this email to your software communities*

Happy coding!

Dear All,

at today, we have only 9 registered mentors, which I believe is not
the final number. If you are willing to mentor a student for Google
Summer of Code, here's what to do: add yourself here [1], clearly
indicating the *title* of the idea you are willing to mentor (no link
to ideas page, please). I will then send you an invite to join the
OSGeo organization on the GSoC website.
The Google Summer of Code program is a great way to attract new
developers and expand our software communities. Moreover, I would
really much like to see more of our former GSoC students engaging in
mentoring this year's fellows students.
Please, forward this email to your software communities!

Kind regards,

Dear All,

It’s that time of the year again!

Applications for Google Summer of Code 2017 are now open for would-be
mentor organizations, and we are in the process of applying on behalf
of OSGeo. At this stage, it is extremely important that we put up a
nice and informative ideas page, that Google will look at in order to
evaluate OSGeo’s application.

*We need your help!*

As previous years, we will create an OSGeo Ideas page, that links to
software communities ideas pages. If you wish to participate, please,
start listing the ideas and the corresponding mentors of your software
community and send us the link to your wiki page latest by February
5th.

And spread the word as much as you can!!

*Please note that from this year we have set up a group email for
admin purpose where you can reach all of us OSGeo GSoC admins at once:
 gsoc-ad...@osgeo.org.*

For further GSoC-related discussions e.g. inter/cross-project
ideas/proposals, ideas discussions, etc please use the long
established OSGeo’s SoC -- Google Summer of Code Coordination mailing
list (https://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/soc).

Thank you

https://hub.qgis.org/wiki/quantum-gis/Google_Summer_of_Code_2017

Did I miss something or is QGIS out of ideas? ;)

I really like to encourage you to participate and write new ideas,
which can be solved during GSoC on this page.

[Qgis-user] Google Summer of Code ideas page: action required latest by February 5th!

2017-01-22 Thread Werner Macho
Dear All,

It’s that time of the year again!

Applications for Google Summer of Code 2017 are now open for would-be
mentor organizations, and we are in the process of applying on behalf of
OSGeo. At this stage, it is extremely important that we put up a nice
and informative ideas page, that Google will look at in order to
evaluate OSGeo’s application.

*We need your help!*

As previous years, we will create an OSGeo Ideas page, that links to
software communities ideas pages. If you wish to participate, please,
start listing the ideas and the corresponding mentors of your software
community and send us the link to your wiki page latest by February 5th.

And spread the word as much as you can!!

*Please note that from this year we have set up a group email for admin
purpose where you can reach all of us OSGeo GSoC admins at once:
gsoc-ad...@osgeo.org.*

For further GSoC-related discussions e.g. inter/cross-project
ideas/proposals, ideas discussions, etc please use the long established
OSGeo’s SoC -- Google Summer of Code Coordination mailing list
(https://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/soc).

Thank you
the OSGeo GSoC Admins Team 2017

Find attached the working csv and csvt file - And remember - this csv is
now NOT to be loaded with delimited text but rather as a "normal" vector
layer.

Re: [Qgis-user] Importing CSV files

2016-07-15 Thread Werner Macho
Hi!

As I wrote in my first guess - ""87%" is not an integer while "87" is.
As long as you have the "%" sign after the digits it will not be read
as integer.
You can try to read it as String - and convert it afterwards - or you
get rid of the "%" sign.

Something like:
Balranald (A);87;6;0

will surely be read like you want it.

Werner

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS 2.14 LTR

2016-02-29 Thread Werner Macho
Hi!

Even on Linux, depending on the Distibution you use, it might take a
while until first packages hit the repository servers.
Sometimes it helps to add an "add-on repository server" in case of
ubuntu -> ubuntugis.

Other distributions might follow this scheme too.
(But with Linux you always have the chance to compile the version you
want by yourself ;) )

Hi!

QChainage is more for measurements - it will not split the line feature.
If you really want the feature splitted I'd rather use something like
the "Station Lines" plugin to make lines crossing the line I want to
split - and use the "Split lines with lines" tool from the processing
toolbox.
And use QChainage to check if everything worked ;)

Hi!

Which version of QGIS are you using and with which OS? (Might help in
finding the cause of troubles).

But my first guess is that those two layers do not have the same
projection. Using and applying algorithms (functions) to layers you
should always make sure that the layers are in the same CRS and
projection. Though it might work with OTF switched on - it is always
better and a sure way to compare them in the same CRS.
If this still does not work .. Version and OS would be helpful (and
probably some sample to reproduce)

Hi Lene,

I am not 100% sure what exactly you would like to archieve and how
many additional layers you might accept but what about:

Using the QChainage plugin to chainage the layers in exactly the
distance you would like to - style the newly created point layer so
that the points are invisible and label the point layer by its created
cng_ Attribute which has the accumulated distance in it.

If it works and you need something additionaly added to QChainage -
let me know ;)

Re: [Qgis-user] QGis GMesh

2015-07-24 Thread Werner Macho
Hi!

I am pretty sure you already know about the crayfish plugin for QGIS
.. which tries to do exactly these things for hydrodynamic modelling.
The first thing is - do you need that mesh as a shape or do you want
to render results?
Second thing - I am quite sure it is possible to implement loading of
these msh files either inside crayfish or through a plugin.

I suggest you to get in contact with the crayfish developers
(lutraconsulting - http://www.lutraconsulting.co.uk/) and ask if and
how it would be possible to implement loading this mesh.

Probably a update of the tools triggered a reset of the processing
settings for it.

And probably switch to the Advanced interface at the bottom of the

Ahhh nice - a flamewar .. I am in :)

Right yesterday there was a nice article about exactly THAT problem -
unfortunately it is in German - but probably google translate helps:

http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Open-Source-Rawkonverter-Darktabl
e-Windows-Version-scheitert-an-mangelnder-Initiative-2750592.html

I fully agree with them.
I think we all would like to have the superperfect application running
everywhere. But like Sandro already said - it seems that windows users
tend to have a high demand while doing nothing.

Just one sentence as a quote out of that article:
They (the developers) complain that many Windows users have
misunderstood the open source idea fundamentally .

Don't get me wrong - I DO like to have QGIS running everywhere
smoothly (and in fact it already IS) but I also use Linux and don't
want to bother around with Windows so .. people using windows should
actually try make the update on windows smoother (isnt it already
nice with OSGEO4W?) but - and there I also agree with Sandro - without
breaking the functionality on Linux and Mac ..

kind regards
Werner

My personal cause is to make QGIS useful for me. I'm very selfish.

It's very useful for me that QGIS is open source as many people
can help me making QGIS more useful for me.

It's very useful for me to NOT ruin others workflow as they might
stop investing time or money in QGIS, so I'm surely not
intentionally working to break any use of QGIS on non-free
 systems.

It is not useful for me to make QGIS work nicely on a system I
personally don't use. Unless it was a paid service, which I
 currently don't offer.

Granted, it might be useful for me if QGIS had more users, in case
those users will become funders of QGIS enhancements. But users of
proprietary systems are often not even willing to pay for their
systems, let alone pay for systems that are offered them for
 free...

So I, as a developer, choosed not to work on making QGIS play
nicely on windows. Thanks to the free software nature of the
software, others developers have other approaches on the matter and
do care more about (or do offer support for) running QGIS on those
defective by design systems, but I finds it perfectly
understandable if it's not so much supported as it is on free
systems (by the mere fact that more free developers use free
systems and more oculated investors invest in free systems...).

2015-03-25 Thread Werner Macho
Hi again

Still the problem remains : processing metadata file should indicate that
the minimum version of this update is for a newer QGIS like 2.6...

You are completely right .. I think (though not sure) this should only
be a matter of changing
qgisMinimumVersion=2.0 to
qgisMinimumVersion=2.4 in the metadata.txt file ..
(or 2.6 - as I don't know when the necessary dependancy changed)

I will ask the devs to take a look at it ..

Thanks for the hint anyway.

Hi Again!

The Identify Results Dock has got a button on top that is called
Clear Results on mouseover.
That now works for me every time (but it took me also some time to
find it - but once you got it it is clear that it belongs there)

As the Identify Results Dock is automatically focused when you use
the tool it should not be a problem any more.

https://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/joinlines/

As the description of the plugins tell- it is not an easy task to do
that because the lines do have directions and the computer does not
automatically know which point should be connected to which other
point (even if they are the same point).
To make it short: For OUR brain it is an easy task :)

But try this plugins and please report if they did what you wanted.

Re: [Qgis-user] Publish a book about the optimal use of QGIS

2014-11-18 Thread Werner Macho
Well

I guess there is no optimal use of QGIS. Everyone has other
priorities and everyone is using QGIS in other ways.
So unless you are not writing a book for your own usecase I guess
there will never be THE book for you.
Information about howto use and optimal workflows for different things
will always be cluttered in different books or in the net.

The Documentation is there and (I hope) it covers all of the core
functionality of QGIS. The way you assemble this functionality is
completely in your hand.

Speking specifically from where to download shapefiles - There is a
lot of open data available .. too much to for one book. And for some
information you will find literally NO open data (unfortunately).
There is no golden way for that. (Beside that - downloading data is
very country specific).

Sorry to say that.

But there is light.. If you have any specific question - just ask here
on the mailing list and I am sure you will get some answers (for your
book :) )

kind regards
Werner

Re: [Qgis-user] Android Camera App with compass bearing

2014-11-05 Thread Werner Macho
Hi!

I know a lot of Compact Cameras that are able to write bearing to
exif .. but I doubt that there will be an App writing bearing.
I might be wrong but IIRC the mobile/tablet has to be held
horizontally while looking at the compass to get best results. Some
promise to have a 3D Compass but honestly I never had one that
worked reliable.
And to take a picture (I assume) you have to hold the mobile/tablet
vertically which is the worst position for the built in compasses
anyway so I would not rely on information collected in that way.
Just my few thoughts .. I might also be wrong .. good luck for your search!

 Maybe, http://geopaparazzi.github.io/geopaparazzi/
 georeferenced and orientated pictures

And now my long rant before I remembered the above link...

I manually downloaded the latest version (newer than that on Play Store) and
it still does not record bearing - even though the app does have a bearing
 tool.
I checked the website and recording bearing into EXIF is not even on the
developer's long wish-list I have emailed the developer, with a hope to at
least get it onto the wish-list.

GPS data is an on/off toggle on most Android devices. Bearing does
appear possible according to the exif specs, but in practice is rare.
 http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/TagNames/GPS.html

Yes, I checked that last night too - TAGs 0x0017 and 0x0018 relate to
 bearing info.

However I don't see any obvious apps for telling the phone you want to
capture that. I'm also not sure all phones are capable of calculating
 bearing when not moving.

So my suggested work around would be a GPS Logging application of
which there are several. Then you can pull the bearing calculation out
after the fact, if it was while moving.

 Sigh, nope.
(In my kind of) Field trip data collection ( photography) often involves
driving to a feature, leaning out the car window and taking a snap-shot, so
recording moving direction will not help at all.
Note that bearing accuracy is NOT that critical, it needs only to be
 reasonably indicative.

If stationary, you might need to write your own app which lets users
indicate which way they were facing when taking a picture. For someone
who's made an Android application I don't think this is hard.
 http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/sensors/sensors_overview.htm
l Indicates all version of Android support the Magentic sensor.

This example shows how to get the bearing from the API
 https://www.codeofaninja.com/2013/08/android-compass-code-example.html
So GPS+Orientation+Camera should be all required.

Yep, true, but the purpose of this thread is to see if this wheel has
 already been invented :-)

Kinda busts my GPS logging idea, since the bearing information comes
from a different sensor than the GPS it won't be in the NMEA strings
 even if you captured them.

What? You not 'hard core' enough to intercept the NMEA stream and insert
bearing-on-the-fly by back-calculating the incoming coords?
(Just pulling your leg - thanks for your interest in this topic :-) )

 Thanks,
 Alex

The original number in attribute table is: 342,52189242800

Using binary editor I can see, that the internal format in dbf-file is:
 3.42521892428e+002

And when I load the shapefile to Qgis, the result is: 3.000

That is unaccepteble! In every attribute table all the digits beyond decimal

So, what to do? This kind of prevents me from doing any serious work with

It should be possible to do the export this way but you have to use
the OGR creation options for Data source and Layer.

As far as I remember the SPATIAL_INDEX_MODE in Layer Options must be set.

As this uses GDAL/OGR function its best to look at the GDAL Webpage.
Depending on the version of GDAL you have there might be other issues
as well.

After all I can only support Ross - it's best to update to QGIS2.2

Re: [Qgis-user] Transfer QGIS files on new computer

2014-04-03 Thread Werner Macho
Hi!

There is the nice QConsolidate plugin available from Alexander Bruy!
It takes every source in your project file and stores them together
with the project file into a seperate directory as shape files.

I don't know how often you double used a source .. but keeping the
Projects together and migrating them to a new Computer this might be a
practical solution.!

Hope this helps

 Hi!

I think the same thing applies as for every plugin right now ..

If you are using master you should be aware that a lot of changes already
went into master (like multi-threaded-rendering) and some things changed so
that plugins must be adopted to follow this changes ..

As 2.3 is the master thing will not happen urgent .. You are on the
 development branch ..

If you need plugins to work you should currently go back to 2.2 and look
from time to time if plugins are already changed. (Or go change the plugin
yourself and make a pull request)

In your case have you tried contacting the author of the plugin?

 kind regards

 Hi,

I'd like to remind everyone that the 2.1 development cycle ends on Friday
(2014-01-24; 4 days away), we'll go into feature freeze and start the 2.2
release cycle in which we'll do testing, bugfixing, translating and release
preparations instead of feature development for the 2.2 release.

Please merge your new features before 2014-01-24 and prepare to start testing.
The 2.2 release will be on 2014-02-21 (32 days away).

 See also: http://qgis.org/en/site/getinvolved/development/index#road-map.html

There's also the question how the next release should be named. My first
idea was Dufive, but I'm sure there are better ideas around. ;)

Hi Gerba!

How did you manage to get on the list?
Usually every mail sent with the list has this little link where you
(and only you) can sign off of the list.
So it should be pretty much the same you managed it to get onto the list.

Hope that will help you

kind regards

Re: [Qgis-user] plugin icon visualization

2013-11-08 Thread Werner Macho
Hi!

I guess what you missed it to include the

import resources_rc

in your main python file ..

might be that running the script fixed that for you..
but without in importing the resources_rc file the icon will not be
available to Qt

 Hmmm, not sure then…

I had a similar problem with my icons not showing up and had to rebuild the
plugin using the two commands from the cookbook. That fixed it for me.

Maybe someone else on the list will have some more information and advice?

 thanks Ross for your reply!

Yes I did steps you're mentioning and below I report my plugin folder
 configuration.

Now I realized that the same situation (no icon displayed) happens with the
 OpenLayers Plugin 1.1.1

Icons are correctly displayed in the Plugin Manager as reported below:

It looks strange, migth it be a setting on my PC Windows desktop?

I'm just curious to understand the reason..

 Thanks in advance.

 Hi Fabrizio

Do you have “icon.png” in your plugin folder?

Did you run the two make commands to build the python files?

 pyuic4 -o ui_vector_selectbypoint.py ui_vector_selectbypoint.ui

 pyrcc4 -o resources.py resources.qrc

This is the updated PyQGIS cookbook recipe for building a plugin:

 Subject: [Qgis-user] plugin icon visualization

Hi all, I'm relatively new with QGIS environment and I wish to learn how to
develop a Python Plugin.. i'm reading useful info in the tutorial Building
 a simple plugin
 @http://www.qgisworkshop.org/html/workshop/plugins_tutorial.html

Probably mine is a very trivial question...

I'm able to activate my plugin in QGIS 2.0.1, but i have some problem with
icon visualization on plugins toolbar and in the plugins menu.

My plugin is present in the list but the button area appears empty, without
 icon icon.png

How can i activate the icion visualization?

I specified icon filename in the metadata.txt file..

Thanks in advance, for any help you can give me!

 Regards,

 Fabrizio
