Thanks, Nathan Rerunning the OSGeo4W installer I see only gdal16-ecw, gdal16-mrsid and and gdal17-ecw, gdal17-mrsid. But the currently installed gdal is 1.9 and no ecw or mrsid libraries for this version. Am I missing something? Really sad. Is the problem with Mrsid the only reason why you have had to take the VirtualBox solution? Crashes of debian-nightly master are to be expected, though. So, we should all understand that the only way to use Mrsid on linux qgis is and will be that the user compiles gdal with that support? No we haven't lost support for those. We never really did it was just some uncertainity around license but those have been sorted now. Justin, I also have a copy of Geo_DSDK-7.0.0.2167 but I get the following error after sudo gdal-mrsid-build $HOME/Geo_DSDK-7.0.0.2167 configure: error: libgeotiff is required to build GDAL MrSID driver while libgeotiff is actually installed. This error has been reported a long time ago: http://trac.osgeo.org/ubuntugis/ticket/21 How where you able to go around this problem?
