Trust me, I'm doing lots of testing. Detecting unexpected behavior
in QGIS saves me lots of explanation time to its users.

Thanks for your quick fixes.

Gents,

i am not an expert in GIS and more or less a „learning by doing“ user
with working with the background functions by using PyQGIS (as i learned
how it is typically named if we use the QGIS classes within python).

However: We may never forget it is a „free community“ without any commercial
aspects and all the typically staff behind.
If somebody insist and insits of his right to claim we shall buy commercial
software, pay
for and then he can expect and insists on all the R and QS staff.

As long as we may use it more or less for free, we shall be glad to have - even
there is a bothering bug. and if yes make a workaround, downgrade or whatever
else.

sorry but all this claiming is boring and hard to accept

to the QGIS team: well done and fantastic job

AFAIK, no.

If you are interested in testing a particular function, I would suggest you
to get the name of the class or of the function that you wish to test, then
grep for that string in the tests directory.

QGIS already has a test suite and CI in place :
https://travis-ci.org/qgis/QGIS

320 tests currently and counting.

Perhaps you meant that QGIS needs a better test coverage.

BTW, tests can be also written in Python, that lowers the barrier for
occasional programmers that want to add a test.

[Qgis-user] QGIS 2.18.8: Update with issues

2017-05-26 Thread Claas Leiner

Hello,

QGIS 2.18.8 seems to bring a lot of issues.
The problem with the expression editor is fixed in the nightly release
2.18.8 (6768c89).

https://issues.qgis.org/issues/16589

However, another mistake has been noted:
QGIS is no longer able to load the results of modeller processes.
https://issues.qgis.org/issues/16621

In addition, the processing tools suddenly lack many translations into
german.

https://issues.qgis.org/issues/16622

Also, the problem with the CSV files.
https://issues.qgis.org/issues/16589

So better stay at 2.18.7. Strange, so far the 2.18 was very reliable and
it is actually a bugfix update.

Best regards,

Claas
