You might be seeing the same issue I've been getting recently as well.
When you import a project into QField it's just excessively zoomed in.
You have to pinch-zoom with your fingers to zoom out a bunch of
times until you're at the right scale.

I guess someone should submit a bug report because it used to open
showing the same view you last saved in QGIS but now it's not only
zoomed in but also offset quite a ways from the QGIS view.

Cheers,
Adam.

Re: [Qgis-user] Qfield on TDC600

2021-02-05 Thread Bo Victor Thomsen

Hi Ivan -

I've experienced similar problems with other GIS applications and
platforms. In some of these cases, the problem was caused by the GPS
delivering "to many" positions to the application. Instead of generating
(perhaps) 1 fix/sec the GPS generated 10 fixes/sec and overwhelmed the
input buffer in the application.

The visible symptoms is that the GPS position trails behind the actual
position. If you stop walking, the the GPS position eventually catches
up to the actual position.

You might try the slow the number of fixes/sec (if it's possible). This
is just a guess. I have no experience at all with the Trimble TDC600 at
all.

Med venlig hilsen / Kind regards

I would like to ask you for advice with a problem that occurred after
installing the Qfield application (latest version, but also older
versions) on the Trimble TDC600 (android 8). I prepared a project in
QGIS (3.14.16).

The cursor on the screen does not move at the same time as I move,
there is a delay of about 70 seconds. I'm also sending a picture where
I've tried to illustrate the problem. After I arrived at a certain
place, I immediately made a point in front of the entrance to the
building. The cursor at that time was about 100 m from that place and
the position of the point was also recorded there (showing accuracy
below 1m). The cursor was still moving to my place. By the time I took
the photo (using a widget for photos), the cursor moved to a place
about halfway between where I was standing and where the point was
recorded. The coordinates of the cursor at that time were assigned.
But the photo (towards the entrance to the building) was taken from
the place where I was standing.

Occasionally, the cursor reached the actual position and pointed
accurately. But, if I wanted to add a new point, after saving, there
was a delay again after adding it.

There was no such problem with other applications (LocusGIS, Google
maps, TerraFlex). The problem also occurred in these applications when
Qfield was turned on simultaneously.

I have good experience using the Qfield app on other devices (Trimble
TDC100, android 5) or phones with higher versions of android.

Can you help me how to solve this problem?

Thank you.

Re: [Qgis-user] QField: adding photos, but how?

2020-04-20 Thread Ville Koivisto
Hi Bernd,

I haven't followed instructions in that link of yours precisely since I've
never had the need to capture several images for a same feature.

But I can guarantee that this functionality works and works great (at least for
me).

Have you tried without setting up relations, just having one field that's going
store captured image path and then configuring it as a "attachment" in layer
properties in QGIS? The correct place to do that is in attribute form. Skip to
the last part of the instructions found in your link.

Images will be saved to your mobile device, into a new folder (DCIM) that will
be located under your project folder. That's at least the default behavior.

Hope this help.

Hi,
for a long time I wish to use QField .. in the field, but as I do not manage to
set up a reliably working configuration, I still have to use Locus all the time
when I need to take notes in the field.

As the ability to take linked photos is crucial for me, I gave it another try
and tried to follow the instructions on the website.
https://qfield.org/docs/project-management/add-1-n-pictures.html

Can anyone confirm that it is possible to take linked pictures following these
docs? I have the feeling that there are missing some important steps or
settings or other infos.

Tried now for 2 days and will soon give up again for the next 2 years.

I think it would be much easier if there would be a tiny downloadable example
project , so I could cross-check the settings and configurations.

Anyway, grateful for any kind of input,
Bernd

Hi Carlos;

Am 20.04.20 um 22:46 schrieb Carlos Dávila:

Hi Bernd
If you don't need an unlimited number of pictures for each feature, as
in the example from QField website, I think you can forget about
relations and just add a field of type string for the number of
pictures you need, then select "attachment" widget type and image as
"Integrated document viewer". That way you'll have two buttons in your
form in your mobile device, one which opens your camera to take a
picture and other to select an already saved picture from your device
file system.
That's the theory, but I'm having problems to save pictures taken from
within QField. Camera is opened and picture is taken, but when I
return to QField, picture is not saved. It seems as if some "Accept"
of "Confirm" action is missing. As a workaround, I take the picture
with the camera app before adding the new feature. Then I go to
QField, add a new feature and select that picture using the second
button mentioned above. The only drawback of this system is that I
then have two identical files for each picture, one in the camera
directory and a copy of that in QField project directory.

well, if I have the chance to take multiple pictures, I would not like
to miss it.
But as I asked, would it be possible to set up sth like it is advertised
using the instructions here?
https://qfield.org/docs/project-management/add-1-n-pictures.html ?

I really would like to get it running AND make suggestions how to
improve the documentation. But as long as I do not know what is missing,
I can't propose any changes (aka vicious circle).

As there are nearly no traces to be found that QField is used this way
on the web (stackexchange, youtube, vimeo), I have the feeling that
people simply are not able to set it up with this documentation cause
vital parts are missing or not explained enough.

The next question then would be, if it really works as described, or if
there are other bugs.

But as long as none steps up to solve the first issues, we will not get
far with the others.

Cheers,

Bernd

Good choice to look into the log, can you explain how you did that and

And maybe also share the data?

Hi Wouter,

unfortuantely, the area is located in Germany, well-known for its

basemap, I'm stumbling through the forest and have a hard time finding
the positions.

The project area is huge, around 400 square kilometers! I have a Mrsid
file of the area of 1.6 GB with 20 centimeter resolution,
transformed with gdal_translate to tiff is 42.5 GB,
compressed with gdal_transform with jped-compression 50% 968 MB,
resampled to 40cm resolution and 50% jpeg has 295 MB

I used the QField sync plugin to generate a baselayer in gpgk-format
from this ,which has 540 MB with 40 cm resolution.

Unfortunately, on the tablet, the baselayer is loading so slow,
that it
is impossible to work with it. Each redraw takes around 10 seconds in
the small scale, rising to infinity in higher scales.

I wonder if there are other approaches recommendable, for example
splitting the image into separate layers for bigger regions, which I
could then turn on and off, or if I should prepare the image apart
from
using the plugins converter to gpkg.

Due to the enourmous amount of time needed to process the image on the
PC, a trial-and-error approach seems not to be feasable, so I ask
you if
someone can recommend an approach for such a huge beast.

Thanx in advance,

Hi,

There is a gis stackexchange question open regarding this which has some
good inputs to consider.

There is also some information in the QField documentation regarding
this topic (although that could benefit from some improvements from your
findings, there's an edit on github link at the bottom of the page ;) )

Re: [Qgis-user] QField: possible to add entry from relation?

2019-03-19 Thread Bernd Vogelgesang

Hi Matthias,

actually I am already quite happy about what I managed to set up.

Found my final set-up at 3 a.m.. Especially the transferability of
styling of the layers (scale dependencies of labels, visibility etc) is
really great, but act a bit different than on the PC. Basemap rendering
is a bit slow..

I will have to enter the ID manually for now, which will definitely
produce some errors, but it is a first test.

So, now I'm on my way to my first QField-test in the field :) I will
definitely test more things and report back!

Thanks for all your efforts,

Bernd

So for now, you will have to work with a plan B, but if you can wait a

Btw, there is a "fix me" link at the bottom of each page in the docs,

I created a Geopackage with this layer and also a non-spatial table
where I would like to enter the results/actions which were taken on
the boxes (value maps etc) and created a relation between those two
layers via the box id.

In QGIS itself, I can easily add a new entry in the non-spatial table
via the form for the point layer.

The same does not seem to work in QField, there I just see the
attributes of the point layer and thats it.

Is there a way to use relations in QField? It's not mentioned in the
docs (https://www.qfield.org/docs/index.html) that it is not
possible, but actually threre is not a lot mentioned anyway ;)

Any ideas?

Subject: Qfield: adding new columns to a postgis table

Good morning to all,

I've created a Qfield project for my colleague, who's in the field updating
a dataset as we speak. Edited layers are postgis tables that I've been able
to edit successfully from my office's PC so far.

But today I hoped to create new columns for a couple of my postgis tables.
This was successful for myself, but for my colleague in the field with
Qfield, changes didn't occur. Now I'm wondering if this is something I could
fix or if Qfield isn't coded to display columns which were added after the
initial packaging.

Any idea anyone?

Cheers,

1) In the settings there is an option "Use native camera", can you try
disabling this one? The native functionality is unstable on some platforms

2) Define a default value for a field with the content

I just added some more docs here,

additional contributions to clarify even more are very welcome!

Re: [Qgis-user] QField doesn't see my data

2017-09-21 Thread Janneke van Dijk

Dear Edrouin,

I just had the same issue, trying to get qfield to work. I used the
QFieldSync plugin and copied the whole project folder in
Android\data\ch.opengis.qfield\files (on the SDcard - though it's
formatted as internal SD card) and it would not show the folder. I then
copied the whole folder to the root of the SD card, where I could find
it under /mnt/sdcard and it opened.

Hope that helps for you too,
Janneke

Re: [Qgis-user] QField Question

2017-06-27 Thread Matthias Kuhn
Hi Tyler,

Yes, that would be a very interesting feature. In the latest release of
QField last week, support for directly connecting the GPS to the add
vertex tool was added (before it was always two clicks: 1. center to
GPS, 2. digitize). This new feature is the ground work for the feature
which you are asking for. What's missing now is the ability to
repeatedly trigger the add vertex tool (in intervals), the required
development is some frontend work. If you have the possibility to
sponsor this feature, please let us know!

Best regards

Matthias

Hi Reginald,

Did you create pyramids in the gpkg rasters?

Generally, Geotiff should be well supported - definitely more tested than gpkg
rasters. I had a 1GB geotiff on qfield (on SD-Card) and it displays fast. I
haven't tested vrt files with geotiffs - if it works as well?

Hi Matthias,

Oh - thanks for the hint. So probably Reginald is just missing the
pyramids in the geopackage - to be created, f.e. with gdaladdo.

QField does not (yet) support tiff with jpeg compression.

See:
http://www.qfield.org/docs/project-management/dataformat.html#raster-data

GeoPackage worked quite nice in our experience and can also be built in
different resolutions (same page further down).

Re: [Qgis-user] QField

2016-09-22 Thread Neumann, Andreas
Hi Reginald,

You can use the JPEG compression inside Geotiff. Note that this can be
specified separately for both the full resolution and the pyramids. You
can also select the compression factor to decrease the file size in
trade off with quality.

See also http://www.gdal.org/frmt_gtiff.html and
http://www.gdal.org/gdaladdo.html for details.

I believe that modern QGIS versions have these options exposed in the
GUI, but probably not as default.

So maybe there is room for potential to get a smaller size Geotiff.

Greetings,
Andreas

Thanks Andreas,

Creating a Geotiff with pyramids did the trick. The only disadvantage is that
it created a file of about 1.7 GB (the original was 90 MB).
Now I am ready to test the app ☺.

I succeeded to publish a map on my phone but the aereal photo which was
published as a gpkg file doesn’t render. When I use the raster.gpkg on my
desktop it renders but very slow.
The gpkg file was created from a 90 MB jp2 file.

Hi Tyler,
both ☺ (i.e. http://ows.terrestris.de/osm/service? – thanks to terrestris GmbH

However, I must admit if encrypted services are used, I have SSL-Problems
outside the intranet with my self hosted custom WMS. The log file shows the
following error message: “WMS: Download of capabilities failed: SSL handshake
failed”. But I'm still near the beginning of my tests.

An additional note concerning raster data, it's best used in geopackage

Re: [Qgis-user] QField error data source is not valid

2016-09-14 Thread Reginald Carlier
Tyler,

What is a OGR dataset? I’m using a aereal photo raster and a shapefile in my
project. There are no date fields in the shapefile.
The documentation gives a 404 error. Who is the developer of this app?
Where can I find his mail address so I can give a notice about the broken
website.

Reginald;
I have been having problems with OGR datasets that have an assigned vertical
datum. I suspect Matthias is correct but if that doesn't solve the issue and
you are using a vertical datum that might be the issue.
On the documentation site http://www.qfield.org/ there was amention about some
possible issues with OGR datasets but I get a 404 error now so I cannot
reference the specific passage under the supported data formats.
Hope that helps some;

What am I doing wrong?
Also I could not find any documentation on QField. Any pointers in this

Hi Reginald,

It's most likely that your project is not portable (i.e. paths inside
are not relative).

The documentation can be found here:
http://www.qfield.org/docs/

And about the portable project in particular here:
http://www.qfield.org/docs/project-management/index.html

Best regards

Re: [Qgis-user] QField digitized shapefiles cannot be opended in qgis desktop

2016-05-18 Thread Neumann, Andreas
Hi Andreas,

I know it sounds stupid: but did you really transfer all connected files
and not just the shp? Note that the shapefile consists of multiple files
(.shp, .dbf, .shx, .prj and some more) - they all have the same filename
but different extensions.

Just to double check ...

Greetings,

Andreas
